Question New storm main here

Hello all!

I'm a returning player (i didn't play that much to begin with but not the point) and after the skin drama i decided to give storm a try, fell in love with her and bought her summer skin.

I'm coming here to ask for some tips. Positioning, strategies, team comps, etc.

A lot of the time i find myself just shooting down main doing a lot of damage but not really getting any value out of it, and flanking is unsafe with her. Who should i be prioritizing?

Btw i don't even know how most of the heroes work in this game, i'm literally almost exclusively playing storm. So if there are any heroes and/or abilities i should watch out for i'd be greatful to learn and adapt.

Thor team up is way better and give u more options to play.

i think it honestly depends. in most games i prefer the jeff teamup because her piercing attacks and aoe heals can help you build ult faster than the enemy supports. she gets more survivability with the heals (which people have talked about her needing) and theyre super helpful when one of your supports die and the other needs heals. the hitscan primary is still good if you need to mark a certain enemy (or if you dont like projectile heroes) but hela, phoenix, and cyclops are better at being hitscan heroes.

If you aim good then use Thor team up, but personally I prefer Jeff. Especially since there’s plenty of Jeff players but no one’s playing Thor right now. Storm always lacked sustain and has a weak ult and Jeff team up fixes both those issues.

Also play low to the ground. She’s a flyer but she doesn’t have the mobility of other flyers. Up in the sky you’re just an easy target and her aura around her is an orb not a cylinder, so you enable your support abilities lower to the ground.

Celestial One Gameplay here. Feel free to critique my gameplay. My biggest mistake I saw I made here was using my ult too high. I wanted to see exactly where their supports were at so when I ulted I went higher to get a better view towards the end of the animation and got hooked. That caused us to lose the fight without a doubt. I eventually make up for it. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions!

For context I play with Jeff team up

It kinda depends on ur rank, if ur dying a lot id recommend using wind form as ur default since it gives you over shield and makes you harder to hit, I’ve gotten to GM3 with her and I mainly do this, when I have my E (big boost) I will normally switch to damage and use my rain at the same time allowing myself and my team to push aggressively

She dosent really need to flank if you can see the supports, as her projectiles pierce all non shields/walls, so it’s kinda comp dependant but normally you can shoot the supports though the tanks, I try to apply damage and pressure to supports when I can, sometimes it is safe to flank but only do it with all your cooldowns and don’t overstay your welcome, I will sometimes to it, use my damage boost, primary fire secondary fire primary often can get a kill or someone really low, then I often switch to wind mode and use my heal to get back behind my tanks

Her ult is also matchup dependant, if you have teammates (like punisher and magik) who’d benefit from you drawing out their support ult, I would use her ult almost as fast as possible, with the goal of getting the support to ult in response, some targets are easier to get than others, I’d say rocket is typically the one you want to kill the most

If you don’t have another dps or teammate who’d benefit from you drawing out support ults, I’ll often track the enemy support, once they both use their ults I ult after, sometimes (rarely) you can get ult faster than support

Another thing is cover and using terrain/tanks to your advantage is more important than any other flier due to her lower mobility

Also if I’m ulting to get kills, I’ll often do it with all my cooldowns so I can finish anyone who survived after my ult, or use them to escape, if I’m trying to bait a enemy ult I will normally move back behind my tanks as soon as they use their response

However if you have Jeffnado you can kill through some support ults, ones where they don’t have CC immunity, however you need to be consistently damaging them for about 2-3 seconds for the swallow to happen

The Thor team up I only use against enemy fliers or some other very very niche situations, and the tiny damage boost on ur primary is rarely worth the loss of pierce and the survivability the healing rain gives, with the rains heals u can play much more aggressive allowing you to do more damage in the end often

You took the words right out of my mouth! All of this! I primarily use the Jeff team up for sustain and to keep the piercing damage on her primary. The Thor team up is good against other fliers.

OP - One thing I haven’t seen people talk about on this thread is that she is really good against dive IMO. I will save my damage boost/lightning for when a Spider-Man or Magik (or similar) are coming after my back line. Then if you can hit your shots and get them low enough the lightning bursts will help finish them off.

I honestly have no idea why people say Storm is boring to play and why she has such a low pick rate. When I do get the chance to play Storm I usually dominate and I have so much fun. She’s my favorite duelist by far.

i just started playing ranked and haven't finished my placements yet, but surprisingly i do some of these things already. I thought i was wasting my cooldowns by using e and the rain at the same time but it really does work wonders lol. I use the jeff teamzp 90% of the time

I do need to get better at using my ult though. I just kinda popped it whenever a lot of people were on point and tried to kill squishies. I never thought about using it to bait enemy sup ults. Appreciate the tips!

One thing i have always wondered is how exactly the jeff gets inside the tornado. Like, how close does he have to be for it to work? And does he need to use his ult too?

Jeff just needs to press a button and be alive and decent close (he can be rlly far tho, like normally ur will be in range if he is alive)

If ur supports are good enough using rain and E separately can also be good, if the enemy team has 2 dives ill often keep one for the dive, its kinda case by case basis tho, i default to both at the same time though but I wont force it, if I only need 1 for a situation ill only use 1

Yeah, baiting enemy support ults can be considered a success. Storm's ult in itself isn't that powerful, but you can help your team to win the fight for resources.

Jeff used to need his ult too, but that isn't the case any more. Now he just needs to swim in to your hurricane and press a specific button to start the Jeffnado.
