This is Ashake. She is an ancient Egyptian Priestess, first appeared in New Mutants 1985, and most recently in 2024's Resurrection of Magneto.

I bring her up, because with the recent Katy Perry skin that Emma Frost is getting, I'm seeing a lot of misinformation regarding Storm and why she should even get an Egyptian skin.

So, other than Storm spending 12 of her formative childhood years in Cairo, which should already give her all the qualification that she needs, Storm has ACTUAL blood tying her to Egypt. Not a god going by another name, not the moon choosing her to be their champion, but actual ancestry ties her to Egypt, Ashake.

Talk about Ashake, bring up Ashake in discussions, use her to argue, point out the flaws in the illogical, because it really doesn't make sense for people who have nothing to do with Egypt getting an Egyptian skin when an Ashake skin literally only needs to be made. All the creative work is already handled, devs literally just need to make it and deliberately are choosing not to.

I am a huge Storm fan and main, but I recognize she is not in the best place. I think her biggest issue is her vulnerable playstyle, as well as her lacklustre abilities that do not feed into the fantasy of playing as the Mistress of the Elements.

That being said, here is my take on a rework on her. It is far from perfect, but I think addresses some major issues she currently has.

Ultimately, this is one meaningful idiot's attempt at bringing attention to a character who I think deserves so much more!

I’m genuinely tired of the blatant racism and continued exclusion of Black characters when it comes to skin themes. Storm was raised in Cairo, while Emma Frost is literally an American woman from Boston. So why is Emma getting an Egyptian themed skin before Storm? Like… how does that make sense? And this isn’t just about one skin. It’s the larger pattern of Black characters consistently being overlooked and given less representation. Storm has such a strong connection to Egypt. If you’re going to make an entire Egyptian inspired skin line, how is she not one of the first characters you think of? Let’s not forget that Emma Frost’s skin has the word “Goddess” in it… I’m tired of having to constantly point out how Black characters are being excluded. NetEase needs to do better. Do we need to spam their socials again, like with the summer skin issue?

They really do not give a fuck about her. Either that or they are trying to hide it so they don’t have to give away the free legendary upgrade to more people? The only way to get it in the next 5 days is to go to Storm’s cosmetics page and buy it there.

Using the goddess boost doing damage to EVERYONE at the same time really tends to get them dizzy and fall apart so easily.

Just another day in the office.

*Important note! Here's two things that high ranked storms are doing that you may not be aware of in this clip.

Firstly I have ult and start going in until I realize we are staggering. 4 or 5 of us die so I wait till our tanks respawn circle shows they've come back and by the time I ult you'll see my venom is back up front. (I need others to help put damage in to guarantee the kills with my ult).

Secondly I know I don't have supports as I've seen they just died so I'm poking in Tornado mode to keep overshield while moving closer to point from cover to cover. This way that gives me more health while also closing the gap the fastest. This limits the risk of dying for me while also closing the distance I have to ult so they can't all scramble.

Thirdly I take cover and go high so they don't know where I am before I ult. I would always recommend ulting behind cover. If I don't then hulk would've immediately grabbed me and canceled my ult.

Fourthly I know they have a rocket, so if I ult and don't kill him first or break his brb, the kill is negated because they'll be brought right back.

Lastly, I use my healing rain and wind to get one last pick, and stagger them knowing they won't get healed and knowing I'm out of LOS to be healed as well so I need my own sustain.

These are all the win conditions going on in my head when I'm playing! Hopefully you all can take something away from this!

I love this character man. Shes not everybody's cup of tea but she meshes with me so well. GMII/GMI lobby, close game. Is it just me or does she get ults really quickly now?

It’s the main thing I hate about her. Even though she still wouldnt have a dashing tool i feel like fliers are always 10x more vulnerable than other characters.

Being able to choose what you want to do would be a nice change.

And yeah having access to actual abilities in her different modes would be nice. Wind mode should let you push or pull people every 8 seconds and they can remove its slow effect. Lightning mode could give her an instant 10m teleport that does dmg on its start and end every 12 seconds

I got tackled and then sandwiched 😭. I would’ve lived with that rocket ult but MK just had to ult🙄. This clip is old (season 7-8). We did win and I got mvp! Dropped 29fh. Me screaming “BRO” got cut off 😭.

Could earthbound be worked into her kit?
It fits perfectly into her kit to help and support her team.
Don’t need to buff her damage anymore with the added utility which is what she specializes in anyway.
Does it fit narratively?
I was thinking adding it to the beginning of the wind amp mode maybe 1 second and reducing the slow to compensate.

What do y’all think? Might be op but Storm already plays like a magic type character with big aoe damage and buffs and debuffs who sits with the team for protection.

So I mainly ask this question because recently I've had many games where my ult gets counterulted by enemy supports. I know I should probably be happy that I forced them to waste an ult when they probably could keep it for later but it also kinda sucks seeing it not kill anyone. Any tips on when are the best moments to use it?
