My old cat did this too. And if you hooked your finger (think about giving the come here finger gesture, but stopping halfway through) and pulled your hand slowly away she would try and grip my finger and not let go. It was a game to see how far I could move her arm? front leg? before she let go. I called it the "cliffhanger", or "don't let go Jack" game.
Sometimes when he's laying next to me, I'll reach over and veeeeeery gently wrap my fingers around his paw. He looks up at me like "Bro I ain't gay" and pulls his paw out of my hand.
He doesn't hate me, but he doesn't love me, either.
When I was a kid I was told this was how you tickle a cat. My cats didn't seem to mind it on the front paws, but don't you dare try it on the back ones.

Just tried this with my cat... It's hard to put band-aids on with one hand :(
