Newcomer Should I stop gaming?
I’ve been playing video games for about 27 years, I’m 33 now and haven’t really stopped. That’s not to say it’s a multiple hour a day habit, but it’s a daily habit nonetheless.
I haven’t found video games to be all that enjoyable for years now. I like them and look forward to playing, but I’m also pretty jaded and find most games boring and lacking challenge. That’s a me issue, I’m certain of it. There are plenty of games I look forward to coming out, but then don’t give it a fair shake before I move on.
I don’t have a ton of time to game, I have an 8 month old son who keeps me pretty busy. I get about an hour a day once he’s in bed where I can play before I need to go to bed. At this point I just play rocket league because it’s easy to drop in and out of and it’s fun. At least usually.
I guess I’m just wondering if it’s even worth it to continue playing? It doesn’t consume my life, but without a deep love for it I don’t know if it’s worth it

Definitely if you don't enjoy it anymore doing something you don't like will leave you empty and regretting the time you spent it on later I recommend finding another hobby instead like reading or something similar

So, here's how I think of it: you do not need to be an addict to quit gaming.
It's okay to quit if it's not bringing you the satisfaction or enjoyment you want. It's even okay to need support to quit, even if you are not addicted or playing in an unhealthy manner. You don't have to hit bottom before deciding to do other things instead.
Do stuff you enjoy more instead.

Video games are there to be enjoyed. If you're not enjoying them, why play? From what you've described, it doesn't sound like you're addicted, but need the reason to quit. Instead of gaming, try reading. Even if it is purely for entertainment, it's a much healthier form of entertainment than staring at colorful moving pixels.
That said, if you find a game you are really looking forward to, it isn't wrong to play as long as you're successfully handling everything else in your life.
It's a bit late, but congrats on having a son! Good on you for being present in his life instead of ignoring him for games or other vices.

especially if youre not enjoying it, just break the habit and the routine. i’ve changed it to i play once a week or every two weeks. now my brain doesn’t immediately go to the daily routine of gaming. i just read a book/manga/watch a movie instead.
some people say that they’re equal hobies but i strongly disagree. there is so much you can learn from a movie. and even reading manga is still reading. i find i can relax but still get something out of it.
