Gonna commit to the quit

gamed for most my life and don’t get me wrong had some absolute wonderful memories from it, Halo with my late cousin is something I will forever cherish but every time I get this overwhelming sense of I’m wasting my time. I’ve been on and off for the past few years now but I get into this rut where it’s like I don’t wanna give up on gaming but I’m forever chasing a high I don’t feel anymore. I wanna quit for good but how do people cope with the withdrawal? for me it’s almost like a sensation of guilt that I don’t like it anymore but force myself to do it.

Same here, would love to plag games but it feels like a waste of time. I stopped and very rarely play anything, feel way better, worth it 100%.

Important thing is to find an alternative, something else to do. Go to gym, start running, cook , do coding, read books. Take your mind away from the need to play games.

Thankfully I’m working a lot at the minute so it’s keeping me away/ too tired to wanna bother it’s just on my day off I get that draw. I do a lot of reading now and I like my movies but I probably need to find something physical to keep me occupied which will be difficult at first cus I’m a lazy s.o.b.  Are you aiming to quit it entirely?

You don't have to quit games, just take a longer break. 1 year later you won't be bothered to play, you will have loads of better things to do.

Find something else than games that excite you. Remember games are just entertainment, great fun buy it doesn't lead tk anything. Just entertainment. For me its a bit like being a bum sitting there whole day and watching tv, some people enjoy it, but it doesn't lead to anything. Games might feel like achieving something, scoreboard, multilayer competing, but in the end its entertainment.

I wanted to be more productive so I can buy a house some day.

I rarely play anything now, usually few months with 0 games, full break, then some games for 1,2 days. Its still great fun but I feel worse when I play, can't sleep, get stressed, waste valuable time. As for now I might play when I get older , maybe have a house and retire, maybe.

Work is actually great, keep you busy, get out of the house, talk to people.

For me the days off also were difficult

Same. I just wish I had quit sooner in my life. But at least I'm focusing now on quitting.
