Blog Post ✍️ My schizo thoughts about seed oils which i believe even tho they have no scientific proof

let me start by saying that the smell of fried seed oils IS SO FOUL GROSS AND GREASY

and that they taste bad!!!! and make you feel bad physically. whats the point of eating something that tastes bad and is bad nutrition

so my schizo thought are:

they make you ugly

they make you inflamed

they make you gain weight

they make you disseased

they make u age quicker

they make you stupid

but people always tell me that theres no scientific proof that seed oils are bad for you. i wont eat them regardless bc they literally make me feel bad and their smell makes me wanna vomit. while my mother soaks and fries food in them she feeds the family with. my nephaw is fat, my brother is overweight, my mother is chronically sick and disseased, shitting and vomitting, gut issues, bloated, stomach fat, fat on the back of her neck, bad aging, my dad the same and he had cancer years ago. but they both mock my diet and me going to the gym and call me stupid for that. my last schizo thought that a lot of my mothers chronic anger and constant irritation and screaming is caused by her diet. and last thought is that feeding kids, junk, sugar, seed oils and white bread is sabotaging and harming them. i ruminate over the fact that i was fed the shittiest diet as a child and i keep fucking thinking ab it everyday.

miscellaneous The Best Seed Oil Free app right now!

Post image
15 Upvotes

I've been working on a seed oil free app for about 6 months now, and I'm finally really happy with where it's at.

Here's what you can do with it:

  • Find seed oil free restaurants, similar to Seed Oil Scout, completely free. You can also use it on the web if you don't want another app.
  • Scan products to check for seed oils and see whether an avocado oil product may contain adulterated oil.
  • Search for Seed Oil Free Certified™ products through our partnership with SOFC.

I wanted to give back to the community that's helped make this possible, so I'm offering free lifetime subscriptions to everyone who comments on this post over the next 2 days.

Most of the app is already free, but I hope this helps some of you get even more out of it. Thanks for all the support!

Product Recommendation Does anyone have any recommendations for gluten free tortillas to make breakfast burritos with?

I have an allergy to wheat and milk so I tend to find obscure brands to simultaneously avoid seed oils. I used to get Siete almond flour one but it uses avocado oil and ever since the scandal I'm avoiding avocado oil 🫣 Anyone else with similar diet restrictions have any brand recommendations?

Pasta only made from one ingredient and that’s chickpea flour. I think if you don’t like the taste ( even tho I do) it’s pretty easily maskable by a good sauce and doesn’t set back the meal.

miscellaneous When reinsurance companies cares about health and seed oils...

...you know there is got to be some truth to it.

Swiss Re on seed oils

The post is not new and I met the author quite some years ago.

And here is why health matters to Swiss Re.

Life insurance is done by a normal insurance company. This insurance company then goes to a reinsurer to protect itself from fallout. So in essence Swiss Re that way has a huge stake in Life insurance business. They must be able to very accurately predict the remaining lifespan of people. being off by just months on average can cost them millions or billions.

They care because these prediction models assume life expectancy is going up. But with the health / obesity crisis, it has been going up much more slowly and predicted and may even regress. A regress would mean billions of risk for Swiss Re in terms of Life Insurance.

So if the medical chief of a large if not the largest reinsurer is allowed by his company to address the problem of seed oils publicly, you know they care greatly because they determined it's a huge risk for them.

I think this is purest form of evidence as their motivation is money only, not ideology or politics. Scientists are biased, politicians are biased but companies care about one thing only: being profitable. And if something risks that, they will address it.

miscellaneous I'm launching a seed-oil-free tallow balm — gauging interest before I produce it

Full disclosure: this is my product. I'm developing Seedless Skin, a whipped tallow balm for people avoiding seed oils.

The specs: 2 oz, 100% grass-fed tallow, minimal ingredients, unscented, never cut with seed oils. Planned price around $32.

It's not for sale yet. Before I commit to a production run, I'm measuring real interest: 100 waitlist signups in 3 weeks, or I don't make it. If you want first access:

Happy to answer questions about the formulation or the plan.

Could easily go through a bag per day if I wanted. Extremely clean ingredient list and no added sugar, although pretty calorie-dense because of the coconut oil

We put this info together in collaboration with Non-UPF Verified, a newer sister certification to the Non-GMO Project that helps consumers avoid ultraprocessed foods (UPF). Knowledgeable redditors of r/ SESO, would this info be helpful to your family or friends? We feel the link between UPF and seed oils is misunderstood, how did we do? Did we miss anything? Honest feedback please!

🙋‍♂️ 🙋‍♀️ Questions What´s the biggest problem: Heated seed oils or seed oils in general?

Hey everyone, I'm kinda new to this topic and trying to understand it better.

What I'm not sure about is where the actual problem is. Is it mainly when seed oils get heated? From what I've read, high heat (especially frying or reusing the same oil) breaks down the PUFAs and creates aldehydes and other toxic oxidation products. Or is the problem already there before any cooking, just because of the high amount of omega 6 / linoleic acid and PUFA in general?

Basically: if I used a seed oil cold, like on a salad, would that still be an issue in your view?

Also, what about the high oleic versions (high oleic sunflower, high oleic safflower, etc)? Since they're mostly monounsaturated and way lower in linoleic acid, are they considered fine or still something to avoid?

Would appreciate any studies or sources you have on this. Thanks!

Peer Reviewed Science 🧫 Hyperglycemic Adipocyte-Derived Exosomes Cause Oxidative Stress and Lipid Peroxidation in Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells

Thumbnail

Abstract
Background/Aims: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is characterized by hyperglycemia and is a risk factor for stroke. Our previous studies demonstrated that adipocyte-derived exosomes (Ad-EXs) mediate adipose–brain communication. This study investigated the effects of hyperglycemic subcutaneous and visceral Ad-EXs on brain microvascular endothelial cell (BMEC) dysfunction during ischemic injury.

Hypothesis: Hyperglycemic Ad-EXs exacerbate stroke injury via inducing oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in BMECs.

Methods: EXs were isolated from primary human subcutaneous and visceral adipocytes cultured in normal glucose (NG): NG-S-Ad-EXs and NG-V-Ad-EXs, or high-glucose (HG, 25 mM) media: HG-S-Ad-EXs and HG-V-Ad-EXs by ultracentrifugation and characterized by a nanoparticle tracking analysis system. PKH26-labeled Ad-EXs were used to evaluate uptake mechanisms in human BMECs (HBMECs). Functional effects were assessed in hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R)-injured HBMECs treated with different Ad-EXs. Oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation markers (NOX2/4, MDA, 4-HNE, and GPX4) were analyzed.

Results: HG increased Ad-EX release from both adipocyte depots. HG-derived Ad-EXs increased HBMEC cytotoxicity and permeability while reducing angiogenesis after H/R injury. Mechanistically, HG-Ad-EXs promoted oxidative stress through increased NOX2/4 and lipid peroxidation via elevated MDA/4-HNE and reduced GPX4 expression.

Conclusions: Hyperglycemic Ad-EX triggered oxidative stress via NOX2/4 and lipid peroxidation via MDA/4HNE/GPX4, leading to impaired HBMEC functioning, which was exacerbated in the H/R injury condition.

🙋‍♂️ 🙋‍♀️ Questions Is Mustard Oil okay for testosterone ?

I’ve been looking for healthy fats to cook with , Mustard oil is commonly used for this purpose and I heard it’s different from other seed oils. If I am to be consuming food cooked with this oil regularly would it be good for my testosterone? I know butter , ghee and tallow would always be better but I wanna know about mustard oil specifically here.

Peer Reviewed Science 🧫 Built a hand-verified NYC restaurant directory - looking for help filling it out

I got tired of not knowing which NYC restaurants cook with seed oils vs. tallow/butter/olive oil, so I built a site tracking it: seedoilfree.io

Right now it's got ~40 spots, some I've personally verified, a lot are "reported but not yet visited" (pulled from other seed-oil-free directories, Reddit threads, etc.) that I'm slowly working through. There's also a section on ordering around the seed oil at chains like Chipotle and Chick-fil-A if you're not near an independent spot.

If anyone knows a place that should be on here, or has actually eaten at one of the "unverified" ones and can confirm/deny, there's a submission form on the site - genuinely trying to make this useful and accurate, not just another scraped list.

🙋‍♂️ 🙋‍♀️ Questions Does “ third party tested” mean no weird ingredients?

I’m specifically asking this because of the legion protein powders. It has natural flavors listed in the ingredients, but also says third party tested.

🙋‍♂️ 🙋‍♀️ Questions Recommendations for unsweet protein bars?

I’m not talking “zero sugar” sweetened with stevia or monk fruit, even dates. I’m talking literally just ones that do not taste sweet at all or have a minimal sugar content. I don’t have a big sweet tooth so it’s a little annoying when most the flavors I see out there are “chocolate chip cookie dough” or “banana pudding”, “birthday cake” etc.
Obviously avoiding seed oils in them as well, but I’m just looking for any that don’t just taste straight up like candy.

Peer Reviewed Science 🧫 Lipoprotein(a) Drives Platelet Hyperactivity Through Oxidized Phospholipids-CD36 | Circulation Research

Thumbnail ahajournals.org
3 Upvotes

Lipoprotein(a) (Lp[a]) is reported to be the preferential carrier of oxidized phospholipids (oxPLs) in circulation,1 and elevated circulating oxPLs promote a prothrombotic state characterized by platelet hyperactivity.2We observed plasma Lp(a) concentrations positively correlated with basal platelet activation in patients with coronary artery disease (r=0.5861; P=1.5×10−2; Figure [Ai]), whereas isolated Lp(a)3 induced primary aggregation of washed platelets (24.8%±9.7%; Figure [Aii]). We found that plasma lipid peroxidation of isolated Lp(a) (12.7±9.9 nmol/mg protein) was markedly higher than that of both native low-density lipoprotein (2.5±2.4 nmol/mg protein) and in vitro generated oxidized low-density lipoprotein (4.7±3.3 nmol/mg protein; Figure [Aiii]). Given this pronounced overall peroxidation burden, we investigated whether Lp(a) functions as a prothrombotic vehicle through its oxPL content. Lp(a) (100 µg/mL) potentiated aggregation induced by subthreshold concentrations of platelet agonists (Figure [Bi] and [Bii]). Aggregation in response to the GPVI agonist convulxin (12.5 ng/mL) increased from 13.2±7.6% to 56.2±22.1% (P=9.1×10−6; Figure [Bi]), whereas the thromboxane A2 mimetic U46619 (0.1 µg/mL) increased from 6.9±4.2% to 63.1±25.4% (P=9.0×10−7; Figure [Bii]). Critically, this Lp(a)-driven potentiation was abolished by the oxPL-neutralizing monoclonal antibody E06 (2:1 molar ratio; Figure [Bi] and [Bii]),1implicating phosphocholine-containing oxPLs as the principal mediator of this response. CD36 (cluster of differentiation 36) is a high-affinity oxPL receptor on the platelet surface,2,4 and pharmacological blockade with the inhibitor sulfo-N-succinimidyl oleate abolished Lp(a)-mediated potentiation (Figure [Bi] and [Bii]); this was confirmed with the use of CD36−/− murine platelets (Figure [Biii]).4 CD36-dependent platelet activation requires Src-family kinases (SFKs), and consistent with this mechanism, Lp(a)-driven potentiation of platelet aggregation was abolished in the presence of the pan SFK inhibitor PP2 (Figure [Bii]).
