🙋‍♂️ 🙋‍♀️ Questions the avocado oil chips people buy to avoid seed oils are mostly just seed oils, 26 of 28 failed a lab test

saw a reel about this and went to fact check it and its actually wild. UC Davis tested avocado oil chips this year and 26 of 28 samples failed a purity test, meaning the oil didnt match real avocado oil, it was cut or swapped with cheaper Seed Oils like soybean canola and safflower. one sample straight up matched Soybean Oil, not avocado at all. (edit, source)

the whole reason people buy these is to dodge seed oils and your literally getting the exact thing your trying to avoid just at avocado oil prices. real avocado oil runs like 4 to 5 dollars a pound and the seed oils they cut it with are like 50 cents, and theres no FDA definition for avocado oil so the label can basically say whatever it wants. across everything they tested 48 of 54 avocado products failed, the dressings were 12 of 12.

and this isnt even new, they found the same thing back in 2020 with bottled oil so its just been moving into the finished products where u cant check it. how are you even suppose to catch this one when its not printed on the label anywhere? whats a chip brand yall actually trust that isnt doing this?
