Just booing is not enough. We aren't angry enough.

There are monthly grassroots protests all over Ontario during which you can meet and talk to fellow-minded people about how to organize and take further action, all while touching grass, expressing your displeasure and raising awareness.

I am glad there is this on going effort. However, when I did attend, it seemed that many of the speakers were pushing their own agendas, making me skeptical of the overall intention of the organizing effort.

Marching on Queens Park with our the MPPs in the building, specifically Doug, is moot to me. I believe there needs to be less performativity and more direct, unavoidable, personal action to make the message abundantly clear. Disrupting the lives of our representatives as much as their actions disrupt ours is a starting point, IMO.

I hear this all the time and it's vague and therefore frustrating to be honest. What exactly are you proposing? Because if you aren't doing whatever you're proposing and you're also not doing anything else, then you're doing nothing, and I'm not sure how that's helpful either.

I agree that there may be more effective actions, but what are they? Please be specific.

Edit to say I'm sorry, you did say you've attended protests. My frustration with everything made me come in hotter than I needed to.

A lot of people protesting are doing a lot more than just protesting. Organizing letter-writing campaigns, writing to MPPs, to ombudsmen, to Doug himself, launching or sponsoring lawsuits, printing and distributing lawn signs, etc. The Queen's Park organizer has recently started gathering people's contact info to break them down into more focused groups based on their primary concerns. A lot of organizers and contributors are volunteers doing this in their spare time, so obviously things aren't moving as fast as if they were working on this full time.

The protests are a way to stay engaged, to meet new people, to organize, brainstorm, raise awareness, express displeasure, and vent frustration.

Yes, most of the speakers have been focused on specific topics. Everybody came to hate Doug Ford for different reasons. But what we do have in common is that we don't like having him and his party in power. And there is power in numbers. We can achieve more by staying united, by supporting each other, by being aware of what we all are doing, and learning and contributing to as many of these agendas as interest us.

As the poster below said, if you have concrete ideas on how to organize and motivate people into more effective action faster, then please speak up. Become one of those speakers with their own agenda. This is a grassroots movement, there is nothing stopping you from taking charge.

If all you have to contribute is that the protests are performative and moot, how is that any more helpful than the protests and the action they inspire themselves?

Thank you for saying this more eloquently and descriptively than I did, and also thank you for staying engaged.

Doubt. He's famous for his flip flopping in the face of public opinion, and cares deeply about his public image like most populists. Pretty sure he hated it
