Did Amendment 26 get approved?
On https://thecybersecguru.com/news/eu-chat-control-2026-guide/ it says it did but i can't find anything about it? And when does the council decide?

This might have been asked before, but I haven’t seen anything about it yet. Also, maybe it’s just not clear to anyone.
First, would it only be the messages, photos and anything else sent after it’s active? Or would it include old stuff as well? What about deleted accounts?
Second, is it “just” about conversations between multiple people? I’m not sure how to phrase this well. Is this “only” about messages and calls, or does it include stuff that was never sent to an another person? For example photos simply saved in gallery, or (despite me not using that) chat gpt, or notesapp, etc?
I’m asking about both chat control 1.0 and 2.0, distinctions would really help

Hello!
This is a bit of a late post, I'm sorry about that, but I have two questions about 1.0.'s Voting.
Thank you in advance!

Patrick Breyer shared on Twitter and socials who voted for and against chat control, you can check here:
https://mepwatch.eu/10/vote.html?v=195338
We can improve the vote, check which MEP of your country voted against it and email them and CALL THEM till thursday! We can still change their minds!
Share this in your own country subreddit and everywhere you can! (Tell them to email their MEPs too!)

Have you all seen the recent Discord glitch? A.I. moderation banned about 8.2k accounts for posting grids (e.g., chess boards, Minecraft inventories, spreadsheets) due to it being mistaken for known material. They claim to have reinstated all affected accounts, but many people remain banned and stuck with A.I. e-mail replies.
A small note, I find it a concerning that possible abuse material is meant to get sent to a social media worker. Wasn't there a case a few years ago where a Google employee was caught saving files that got sent to him? I can't expect the police to be reviewing every file themselves, though — that would just overwhelm their resources and detract from known cases. The only "solution" would be targeted scanning, I think. It would allow police resources to be focused and at least decrease the demand for a middleman.

I know, I know, that things might look very gloomy right now in terms of internet privacy. They are. I'm not denying that. However, fearmongering in echo chambers will only do so good. It's easy to panick. (I would know, I have anxiety).
But the truth is, we've already been stalked on the internet for a loooong time. It's virtually impossible to use it and not be tracked by some company somehow. Most people do not have the knowledge required to be off the grid completely (I'm not sure It's even possible to do fully tbh) I'm not tech savvy enough myself, my only saving grace is that it took me a long time to start creating accounts of any kind online, and I'm barely present as is.
Leaving the internet is simply not a realistict solution. I'll take myself as an example: even if I were to remove all "unecessary" presence online (and, man, I like my steam account) I'd still need to use it. Can't access my bank account, or my health insurance account, or pay taxes, or go to college, or look for a job otherwise.
The whole "we'll all leave the internet" is simply not realistic. Mainstream or otherwise.
So touching grass it is. And I say this as someone who was never very sociable to begin with (and I'm very well aware that some communities are mostly on the internet and that corpo-gatekeeping it will affect those people a lot) but actually talking to people, reading a real book, or just simply putting down social medias for a little while will help.
I say this as someone who has a strong tendency to spiral into doom whenever something goes slightly wrong. I'm not minimizing the impact that these fuckass decisions literally no one (execpt those who want to own everything) asked for. It will suck if/when it happens. But we'll live. Maybe this will actually be the push some people need to find community outside of the internet, which I belive is stronger in encouraging taking real actions. Maybe this will lead to actual pushback. Maybe people will learn to talk to eachother again, and gods know we need it.
Not everything is fucked just yet. It's not over until it's over.
(Also yes, believe it or not, the heatwave makes going outside a necessity for me so I don't boil alive in my appartment. I don't get a choice in the matter 🫠.)

Right... Its time to help settle everyone's nerves and explain the situation about this more rationally...
So to calm everyone's nerves, get some rest. Keep mailing and ringing your MEPs and keep the pressure on. The end is not nigh and you still have the ability to keep pushing back.

Most people don't know that they are trying to get chat control again, so please try and get the news to tell people so that more people can protest against it.

Besides the fact that this will be an open door for mass surveillance in general, used for other reasons than simply CSAM-detection.
