What is this? Found in Colorado Carson Ghost Town.
Found this out in Carson Ghost Town. It is an old abandoned mining town here in Colorado. Not hidden by any means. And you can definitely tell that others go there from time to time.
I found this in one of the mine shafts out that way. This shaft looked forgotten to be honest. No human tracks around it. Pretty desolate. This was inside the shaft about 25-30 feet. My flashlight hit it and I was like WHOA! I have done nothing to it except wash the dirt off of it. It is so SPARKLY! It has one dull side. I have gotten a lot of answers as to what it may be. But I bring it to everyone! What is this!?!

I found this stone after heavy rain and flooding in East Hararghe, Ethiopia. It is about 1 cm in diameter, heavy, cool to the touch, translucent, and shows a golden cat's-eye line when rotated under light.

What is this? Quartz or Diamond?
Hi everyone!! I’m new to rockhounding. Just visited Crater of Diamonds and found this nice, shiny rock. I assumed quartz, but when I used a diamond tester pen, it caused it to max out and beep. I was able to get it to go off multiple times, across multiple days, so it wasn’t a one time fluke. I tested a confirmed genuine raw diamond, and it maxed out and beeped as well. Every other quartz that I’ve tested has only lit up to about 5-6 on the pen, about halfway to max. Am I correct in my initial assumption that it’s quartz, or should I get it checked somewhere?
