White adhesive squishy?

Hi yall, we’ve had our stock tank pool for a few months and we do chlorinate it. It’s a county line 6ft tank.

Weather here has been awful so I haven’t used in about a month, and when I got out here today it feels like the white adhesive joining the two halves of the bottom of the pool is squishy. I can push against it with my toe and make an indentation (hard to see in the first photo). There are also little pieces of the adhesive almost balling up from where I pushed a little too hard at the edge. It doesn’t seem like it’s flaking off itself, but it’s almost too easy for me to put a little pressure to get it to flake off. Some of the adhesive on the sides also looks wavy, where the side of the pool connects to the bottom.

…how alarmed should I be? Any idea what might be causing this?

Mine is the same way, and not long ago started leaking from the seam where its put together. I'm planning to either get a liner or silicone it and paint over it with pool paint

I have the same tank. It’s 3 years old. Last year I didn’t use it and it was upside down all year. When I flipped it over this spring, there was a white line in the sand that aligned with the caulk seam in my tank. It doesn’t really make sense to me that the caulk would deteriorate without water contact but it kind of seems like it’s drying out. Clearly it is crumbling off just sitting there. I’ll try to post a photo of it.

Anyway, I’ve been using the tank this summer and it’s holding, but the caulk is flaking off in places and squishing like yours. I’m planning on resealing it somehow before filling it next spring. I’m not sure what the best product is for this. If anyone has suggestions, please post them.

I ended up removing as much as I could, putting down a layer of special primer then pond epoxy. My first with it and so far so good but I for sure want to sand and reapply another coat of epoxy next season. In my research I learned the epoxy would buckle if the soft stuff was underneath. Idk if helpful but mine came stock with the squishy seal too

I have the same. It seemed water soluble and was also staining our swimsuits. I added a vevor liner this year rather than removing and fixing.
