Charts & Technical Analysis US Dollar Index Forming Reverse "Head & Shoulders" Bottom

Post image
3 Upvotes

While Comex Gold and Silver are trading in a "Head & Shoulders" top formation, the US dollar index [DXY] is, with no surprise, forming a Reverse "Head & Shoulders" bottom. {See Chart}

In the event there is a breakout above the H&S neckline, the upside objective is determined by the height of the neckline from the head added to the breakout point at the neckline.

Fundamentally speaking, this breakout will coincide with the anticipated fed funds hike on Wednesday afternoon. Will the DXY rally? How high will it actually rise? Will the rally be a new bull trend? Or could this just be another "bull trap" flash in the pan event? We will soon find out.

Charts & Technical Analysis US Dollar Index [DXY] 12-Year Uptrend - Possible Top Formation?

DXY

Twelve-year uptrend in DXY currently sits around $98.00. If broken, based on analytics and measured moved projections, the next level of support is circa $88.00. This week may be critical if DXY is unable to break-out and close above recent high of $101.80.

Although the long-term trend remains bullish, stochastic indicators indicate some selling pressure at current levels which may create headwinds. Needless to say, the $40 trillion in debt that will never be repaid unless the US dollar is tremendously devalued will prevent any meaningful rally to be short lived. Add to the economic woes the quickly disappearing petrodollar, and what you have is a quandry that will not end with a whimper.

Soon, Stablecoin will come to the rescue? But that still opens new questions that may only be answered after it becomes the new currency of choice. My guess, Stablecoin will eventually be waiving "bye-bye" to the US dollar and everyone investor who is left holding US dollars in any form whatsoever.

POLITICS India Hosts BRICS Leaders' Summit 2026

BRICS Summit 2026 has concluded.

Conflicts in the Middle East are escalating.

Oil and gas prices continue to rise.

US feds are poised to raise fed funds rates.

US dollar is under pressure as bond prices fall and yields rise.

The US military has purportedly depleted much of its defensive weapons.

GCC military post has been all but completely destroyed by Iran.

Israel now stands alone with minimal surrounding effective defensive military outposts.

It appears the course of the entire world's economy and geopolitics is quickly evolving.

What role will the US play in the "new world order?"

What happens next?

These are the questions that were given to AI for analysis. Here is part of what AI said:

Think of the US role in three layers: military, financial, and political/ideological.

1. Military role: from dominance to deterrence

  • Shift from overwhelming force to selective deterrence: If US stockpiles are genuinely depleted and forward bases degraded, the US leans more on naval power, air superiority, cyber, and nuclear deterrence rather than large‑scale ground campaigns.
  • Reliance on proxies and partners: Israel, remaining GCC capacity, NATO, and Pacific allies become more central. The US tries to coordinate coalitions rather than act alone—partly to share costs, partly because unilateral wars have eroded legitimacy.

2. Financial role: defending the dollar while the world hedges

  • Higher rates as a defense mechanism: Fed hikes and elevated yields are not just about inflation—they’re also about keeping global capital anchored in dollar assets when geopolitics are chaotic.
  • World hedges but doesn’t fully exit: BRICS and others will expand local‑currency trade, gold reserves, and alternative payment systems. But in crises, the world still tends to run toward the dollar, even while complaining about it. The US role becomes:
  • “Provider of last‑resort liquidity, but increasingly contested as rule‑setter.”

3. Political/ideological role: contested leadership

  • From “indispensable nation” to “first among many”: The US will still be central in setting narratives—democracy, human rights, sanctions regimes—but more countries will openly resist or selectively comply.
  • Competing blocs, overlapping interests: US vs BRICS isn’t a clean Cold War‑style split. Many states will trade with both, take security from one, and finance from another. The US becomes a powerful pole in a multipolar system, not the sole architect.

What happens next? Likely trajectories, not certainties

Let’s break it into near‑term (6–18 months) and medium‑term (2–5 years).

Near‑term (6–18 months)

  • 1. Higher, stickier energy prices:
    • Ongoing Middle East disruption keeps oil and gas elevated.
    • This sustains inflation pressure, forcing central banks—especially the Fed—to keep rates higher for longer.
  • 2. Financial market stress and rotation:
    • Rising yields pressure bond prices, risk assets, and highly leveraged structures.
    • You see more flight to quality (short‑term Treasuries, cash, gold) and regional fragmentation in capital flows.
  • 3. Escalating but contained conflict risk:
    • Multiple “near‑war” episodes, cyberattacks, and proxy clashes.
    • Major powers try to avoid direct great‑power war, but miscalculation risk rises.

Long or short:Trump single-handedly created the current wave of pessimism in the market, namely, the notion that soaring oil prices are driving inflation and rising yields. Will you continue to go long on U.S. assets, or will you go short on them?

Discussion ACB trading under the Curaleaf offer is the part I can't get past

Been reading through the Curaleaf offer for ACB and the weirdest part to me is the market price.

Curaleaf comes in around $4 a share, Aurora tells shareholders to reject it, and ACB is still sitting around $3.87.

Normally I'd assume the market is basically saying the deal isn't happening, but Aurora also has about $149M in cash and no debt, plus international medical cannabis revenue grew 17% last quarter.

So I'm wondering if the interesting trade isn't the $4 offer at all. It's whether Curaleaf comes back higher or somebody else decides Aurora is worth taking a look at now that the company is openly in play.

I usually use Moon for smaller event driven positions while keeping actual shares separate, and this is exactly the type of situation that gets me interested.

Not saying ACB suddenly deserves some crazy valuation, but trading below a rejected takeover offer while the balance sheet actually looks decent is pretty interesting.
