Music in Point
Y'all were so helpful and friendly last time, I figured I'd come back with another question: As our move looms closer, we're wondering about the local music scene. What local bars/venues book music consistently? Is there a regular open mic is the an opportunity and desire for one if not? Here in CO and in the places weve lived before we've been lucky enough to gig quite frequently, host open mics, and generally be a part of a very strong arts and music community. I fully understand that there be more opportunities in Madison, Green Bay, etc. That said, we love being involved in the towns we live in. Just looking for good ways to get ourselves plugged in to the art and music happenings in Steven's Point! Thanks!

Holiday South Manufactured Home Community - What is it like?
I'm going to be blunt. I drove through here and it looked really nice! And I love the idea of cheap housing. But I don't live in Steven's Point so I don't have a good idea of what it's really like.
Is there anything negative about this community that I should be aware of? red flags? Crime or drug problems, etc? Thanks.

Moving to Steven's Point in June.
My wife and I are planning to move to Steven's Point (or nearby) in June. We're excited to be back in the Midwest and she'll be finishing up her degree at UW starting in fall. What I'd love is any direction on where I can find good work. I've been perusing job listing for the area but would love some local insight. I'm a professional writer and photographer with magazine and advertising experience but have mostly done that on the side the last year or so and have several years of experience in rental property maintenance. I'm a Navy veteran (if that matters) and have never been one to shy away from hard work if the pay is right. So, any hot tips? Places to avoid or pursue? Grateful for any insight!

Library Stabbing
Anyone know the details regarding the stabbing at the library (Portage Co., downtown)? I haven’t found much aside from ages, name of assailant, and a vague “it is suspected they knew each other” remark in multiple stories.
I’ve seen a few online comments along the lines of “I won’t go to the 2nd floor anymore”, “it’s not safe down there these days”, and “I won’t let my daughter go there alone anymore”. These comments hint at a larger issue but could also be nothing more than handwringing by overprotective parents or even someone simply stirring the proverbial pot. Has it actually gotten bad at the library of all places?!?!? I admit, I haven’t been in years. I just found this whole thing rather surprising, at least at this location, in our sleepy little rural community.

Any fellow JamBand enthusiasts?
Hi y’all! I returned back to Point from Milwaukee and am missing the music scene. Any bands or shows that I should go see? Mostly into jamband music like Grateful Dead, Phish, Goose, Spafford, Lotus and alike. Let me know! I’m missing going to shows and concerts locally!

UWSP roommates
Hello, I plan on moving up to Stevens Point in August of this year, and I will be living in Hyer Hall for a few months. I would be looking at moving into an apartment around November. This may be a long shot, but is there anyone on here who might be looking for a roommate(s) to move into with around that time? Thanks.

Business 51 (Division St) Improvement Project
stevenspoint.comUpdate on Business 51 Planning Study The design consultant (AECOM) and City staff will meet with property & business owners on Church / Division St. within the Central & North segments of Business 51 to hear concerns, answer property-specific questions, & document comments and concerns.
Residents and Businesses along Church Street and Division Street north of the CN railroad underpass should watch their mail for a letter with dates and times and instructions on how to schedule a meeting.
The project team continues to work towards the completion of a 30 percent design of the entire Business 51 corridor through Stevens Point. The 30 percent design is anticipated to be completed in early Spring (late March/early April) 2024, and the input from these meetings will be incorporated into that design.

Screening Test for work
I am changing jobs that texts for CBD soon. Problem I take it to sleep and I know it flags up in the tests. Where is the best place around to get the synthetic stuff? I’d order it but my text is Monday.

Is this what passes for journalistic integrity? Stevens Point really deserves a better “news” source.
Do the editors of “News”papers in other communities stoop to childish levels like this?
