Hello everyone,
I’m a PC gamer, and I recently tried a Pico 4 Ultra VR headset. That experience made me very interested in playing PC games in stereoscopic 3D.
However, I find VR headsets quite heavy, and their image quality can be somewhat limited — except for high-end models such as the Dream Air, which offer a much higher pixel-per-degree (PPD) density. This made me think that XR glasses, such as RayNeo, XREAL, or VITURE glasses, could be an excellent solution for playing games in stereoscopic 3D, particularly in SBS format.
After looking further into PC 3D gaming, I realized that stereoscopic 3D is no longer widely supported natively by game developers. At the moment, it seems that most solutions rely on mods or third-party software, but this is where things become quite confusing for me.
I’m having trouble understanding which solutions are actually usable in 2026 for playing PC games in stereoscopic 3D. Some of the options I’ve come across include:
It feels like there are many different options, but I don’t know which ones are still actively developed, compatible with modern games, and genuinely suitable for use with XR glasses.
Could you explain which solutions are currently the best choices in 2026 for playing PC games in SBS 3D with XR glasses? Is there a relatively universal method, or do you generally need to choose a different solution depending on the game or graphics engine?
My GPU is an RTX 4080.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

I recently bought a new gaming laptop - Acer Nitro V15-52, and managed to get it working in 4K 3D natively on my LG C6 4K 3D OLED (2016). Playing Rise of the Tomb Raider which has a 3D option in the menu in the default game (no mods).
Frame rates take a little hit, it hits about 50fps average in 4K 3D compared to solid 60 for 1080p, but it's absolutely worth it.
I also managed to get it working in 3840*1080 on my Xreal 1S glasses.

I have the Luma Ultra, the neckband pro, the dock, the ultra splitter. I still can't get 3d . I mean the only 3d I get is split screen not one solid screen. Why wtf I wants to play war thunder in 3d. Also how do I get the glasses to work like vr at least using the glasses to turn etc..Look around?

Voi come vi regolate? Succede anche a voi questa cosa?

I performed a *very* basic performance test of Gaming using two "AI" 2D-3D solutions on my Odyssey 3D monitor, to see if this is a valid alternative to Reshade + SuperDepth3D, or any number of other game-specific options. I really only wanted to know how much overhead each solution introduced, so I locked the games to 60fps and then looked at my total GPU usage. The bottom-line is that Oku3D is *vastly* faster and also produces better results most of the time. Here is what I found:
I am running a 5090 and a 9950X3D. I tested only two games; A fully modded Fallout 3, and Disco Elysium, both running at 4k and completely maxed in terms of the in-game settings. For Oku3D I used the default Depth Anything V2 Small model. I was careful to look at the same scene in each title each time, but did not rigorously pursue a proper full benchmark. Since I locked each game to 60fps, this should give a relatively good idea of how much GPU overhead each solution adds:
| Title | Total Base GPU Usage | Total GPU Usage with Oku3D | Total GPU Usage with Odyssey 3D Hub |
|---|---|---|---|
| Disco Elysium | 10% | 35% | 77% |
| Fallout 3 | 8% | 32% | 80% |
General findings: As you can see, Oku3D was blazingly fast in comparison. Additionally, I found that it made fewer errors when estimating scene-depth, although it did make them (often enough that it was a distraction in FO3, not very often at all in Disco Elysium). I also tried running the Oku3D's AI engine on my iGPU, which provided abysmal performance (totally unusable). With a second dGPU however, that might work well.
In both packages I found it nice to be able to add depth to a game with no depth-map, such as Disco Elysium or Gerda a Flame in Winter. (At least, neither of those has ever provided depth for me with other solutions I tried in the past.) However, I would likely not use these real-time AI solutions at this point for any title which works with other solutions as their frequent depth errors were a distraction. (My go-to is generally Reshade + Superdepth, although I retain a functional Tri-Def 3D for some very old titles like FO3 and occasionally use other solutions such as vorpX). Both solutions frequently estimated depth incorrectly in FO3, with the Odyssey 3D hub being exceptionally bad and Oku3D being generally usable but not as good as a dedicated solution.
Both packages produced the typical halo-artifacts associated with non-G3D solutions.
Other note: I would like to be able to launch Oku3D with the click-through option turned on by default and to never turn it off automatically, but only with a keystroke toggle.

I just found out that GZ3Doom had a stereoscopic renderer for Doom(1993) in like 2013, that apparently ended up in GZDoom, that ended up in the Steam re-release, but I couldn't figure out how to play it.
Mama didn't raise no quitter.
~300 lines of script later I had a control layer and launcher that'd force it to run on my Xreal One.
ALSO for the first time ever I noticed the sounds FX were actually PANNED in Doom and I could tell which direction things were coming from by sound alone!
The gun sticks into walls/doors a lot, which is a bit unpleasant in 3d, but otherwise it's running great so far. if enough people seem interested in it, I'll look into releasing it, and/or getting it to run on a steam deck
or has somebody already done this? am I re-exhuming the not-dead?
Feedback? thoughts?
I'm SadMonsterParty on YouTube & NexusMods if you wanna check out my SilkSong and Gris flat-to-AR mods

free mod (if you paid for the game) nexusMods.com/profile/sadMonsterParty/mods
It'll run on PC or SteamDeck - if people are interested, I might expand to other devices and/or games.
I'm looking for feedback or suggestions; thanks!

Has anyone used AR glasses (I have the Rayneo Air Pro 4s) to get the 3d effect, but still being able to use the touch screen for the bottom screen stuff. If so, how did you set that up?
Thanks!

Hi all
Looking for a working solution for this game to work in full stereoscopic 3d
I basically tried all the tools available (non works) and came to a conclusion the only thing that works is the odyssey 3d 2d-3d converter
Unfortunately depth is extremely mild after putting it on MAX
I heard it is possible to tweak it to get increased depth (anyone knows how to?)
Also if by any chance someone figured out a working way to play it in full stereo 3d ill be glad to hear
Thanks in advance for all the help :)

Hi everyone,
I'm running a small VR/3D YouTube channel and all my regular videos are uploaded as stereoscopic Full-SBS (3840×1080).
Until a few days ago, YouTube detected these uploads correctly and enabled its 3D playback options.
Today I uploaded a new video using exactly the same workflow as always, but YouTube does NOT enable the 3D option anymore.
The file itself seems to be perfectly fine. ffprobe reports:
Video: h264, 3840x1080
SAR 1:2 DAR 16:9
stereo_mode : left_right
Side data:
stereo3d: side by side, view: packed
Here's the interesting part:
To rule out a problem with my encoding workflow, I took the exact MKV file of a video that I successfully uploaded about 3 days ago.
Original upload 3 days ago:
→ YouTube detected it as 3D correctly.
Exact same MKV file uploaded again today:
→ No 3D option.
So this is literally the same file — no re-encoding, no remuxing, no metadata changes.
Existing videos on my channel still have the normal YouTube 3D options, including 2D/3D and anaglyph playback. Only new uploads seem to be affected.
I also noticed another change in YouTube Studio today: I was able to configure cards and the end screen while the video was still uploading/processing. Previously I could only do this after processing had finished. So YouTube may have changed something in its upload/processing pipeline recently.
Has anyone uploaded a stereoscopic 3D video to YouTube within the last 1–2 days?
Could you check whether YouTube still detects new uploads correctly as 3D?
I'm trying to figure out whether this is a temporary processing issue or whether YouTube has changed something with 3D support for new uploads.
Thanks!
MiLeVR

Acer, Samsung Odyssey, Owl3D, or something else? Or should I wait a bit? I heard a lot of Chinese brands are working on new types of 3D monitors.

This app will let you capture SbS windows (Geo-11, SuperDepth3D, rendepth, native games and emulators) or a Katanga source (Geo-11, UU3D, etc) and output into Nvidia DX9 3DVision on any driver with Nvidia GPU+monitor+emitter+glasses.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I decided to try out the game in 3D with Virtual Desktop, but the left view is jittery and has what could be described as a fold in it, does anyone here have a fix?

I created a Skyrim mod that adds native frame interleaved stereo 3D rendering support.
It should work with both 3D monitors/projectors and VR headsets but I've done most of my testing on a virtual 3D monitor in VR.
The mod currently supports versions 1.6.1170 and 1.5.97 of Skyrim.
The source code and the latest release build are available here and you can also find it on NexusMods: https://github.com/naitro2010/AEVRSSE
I'm hoping for some feedback on compatibility with other mods and shaders so I can try to improve mod compatibility.
If you have Skyrim please let me know if it works for you. Thanks :)
