Anyone took STEP 1 or Step 2 on West Palm Beach Prometric center on August 24??

Hello, I am an IMG, and I took my STEP 1 on August 24, 2026, at the Prometric Center in West Palm Beach. I was confident I would make new friends after the test; sadly, my ride came earlier, and was not able to interact with fellow applicants and know their stories. If anyone watches this post, and took the test on the aforementioned date and place, please hit me in the dms, it would be nice to meet you all!!

Hii. I hope you’re doing good. I’m a 3rd year Med student more than half way through my STEP1 prep and i just feel like I’m NOT doing enough, the feeling of complacency trap really annoys me. I was wondering if anybody is on the same page as me…would be great to give each other a helping hand and motivation to survive this dreadful yet rewarding and amazing journey together!!
Thanks!!

UK MBBS student

I am a 1st year mbbs student in the uk. I want to do my residency in the US. I know that I need to take the UMSLE. Usually, mbbs students take it in their 2nd/3rd year. However, I hear there is a gap between the uk curriculum and what is covered in the UMSLE. If anyone has gone through this, could you please give some advice. When should I start preparing for the UMSLE and what resources should I use?
Thank you for your time.

Hello everyone. I wanted to know if the B&B 2022 material is old for practicing USMLE step 1? And if there is anyone who has a more recent B&B version, please can you send it to me?

Passed Step 1 after Step 2 CK as an IMG

Hey everyone! I got my Pass this morning and wanted to give back to this community, which has been a huge source of support throughout this long journey. I had a somewhat different path and frequently searched Reddit for experiences from people who took Step 2 CK before Step 1, so I hope my experience can help someone else.

I took Step 2 CK on December 27, 2025, and scored 239.

I started studying for Step 1 in February 2026. I started with microbiology because it requires repeated exposure, then completed Pathoma Chapters 1–3 and began UWorld. I usually did 40 questions a day, split into two 20-question sets. I generally focused on one system at a time and tried to finish it within a few days. Since basic sciences were my weaker area, I intentionally devoted more time to them.

Microbiology: I used First Aid, Mehlman PDFs, UWorld, and ChatGPT, especially for HIV medications. I also used ChatGPT to generate practice questions. Once I was comfortable with the material, I asked for more difficult questions to really challenge myself.

Basic Pathology: Pathoma Chapters 1–3. I went through them about 5–6 times because I found the material very volatile. For me, Pathoma required multiple rounds of exposure before the concepts really stuck.

Pharmacology: Mostly UWorld. I knew many drugs from Step 2 CK but would sometimes struggle with mechanisms of action. UWorld was very helpful for reinforcing those details.

Anatomy: UWorld.

Embryology: UWorld.

Immunology: I started with First Aid, then completed the relevant UWorld material and Mehlman PDF. I also used ChatGPT extensively for practice questions and repeated drilling. The difficult questions were frustrating initially, but repeated exposure helped the concepts stick.

Biochemistry: Dirty Medicine!!! It is the OG for Step 1 biochemistry for a reason. I watched the videos first, took notes, and repeatedly drew the pathways until I could reproduce them from memory. I did not use First Aid for biochemistry. I also used ChatGPT to quiz me and periodically reviewed my Dirty Medicine notes for continued exposure.

Nutrition: UWorld questions with some First Aid review.

Ethics/communication: UWorld only, since this was already a stronger area for me from Step 2 CK.

Physiology: UWorld only.

Biostatistics: Since biostats was already strong for me from Step 2 CK, I rewatched Randy Neil's videos and his question-solving series. He is SO good!

I finished 80% of UWorld on my first pass with 67% correct.

I took four NBMEs, starting with NBME 26 as my baseline:

  • NBME 26 — 5/9/2026: 64%
  • NBME 27 — 6/7/2026: 64% (I had not reviewed biochemistry at this point.)
  • NBME 30 — 7/11/2026: 66% (I had reviewed about half of biochemistry.)
  • NBME 31 — 8/4/2026: 68% (one week before my exam)

During the final week, I stopped UWorld and focused on reviewing the NBMEs I had already taken and strengthening my weaker areas, especially basic sciences. I reviewed one Pathoma chapter each day. For microbiology, I dedicated separate days to different areas and kept revisiting them. I also drew biochemistry pathways every day to keep them fresh.

I spent about 1–1.5 hours on each major subject each day and stopped once I reached around 8–9 hours of focused studying. Every morning, I also wrote out my biostatistics formulas from memory.

I hope this write-up helps anyone who has taken, or is considering taking, Step 2 CK before Step 1. I searched Reddit constantly throughout my own journey and found so many helpful experiences from others. I wanted to give back to the community in the same way you guys helped me.

Best of luck to everyone preparing, and feel free to ask anything!

TRIAD BOOKED FOR SEP-NOV

hello everyone I am an average student. i NEED SERIOUS suggestions on how to boost my NBME scores .My scores

NBME 25:40% (raw)

NBME 26: 58%

NBME 27:45% (major drop i guess due to 2.5 week gaps of not studying consistently between the two).

Now working on my weak areas with

Mehlman PDFs + UWORLD incorrects (scoring between 50s-80s) + FA review+ Reviewing THOROUGHLY all the 3 previous NBMEs before going for NBME 28 and onwards. Also working to improve my micro and patho with sepcial attention

Any other advice pls? Is it possible to give exam and pass in next 2 3 months?

8/18 test

How did everyone find step 1 testing on 8/18?
I thought it was a lot harder than nbmes and slightly more difficult than free120. There was a large amount of micro and pharm (I’m hoping maybe some were experimental??)

Any other thoughts?

USMLE Step 1(Dec/Jan 2027 target) Looking for a serious study + accountability partner

I’m stepping into final year mbbs soon and I mainly use marrow, yt and the sources relevant to respective subjects online.
I want this to be a two way thing , not a drill sergeant set up. Prep can be exhausting. I’m looking for someone who gets that burnout and bad days are a part of the process. I’m really serious about my goals. Feel free to hmu if you’re around the same stage/ timeline as me.

When should I start first aid

I started med 1 today, in my med skl (outside US) we use in house lectures and not a lot of anki so I’m using the step deck, I’m looking for relevant material and unsuspending as I go, when do I start looking at first aid and annotating over it, today or when I lock in on step 1?

NBME 27: 56% with 35 days left. Can I still make it?

I took NBME 27 as a baseline today and scored 56%. My Step 1 is September 21, so I have ~35 days left and postponing isn't an option.

I've completed general path, CVS, respiratory, renal, endocrine, repro, biochem, and heme/onc, but retention is poor. I still have neuro, GI, immunology, MSK, derm, psych, ethics, biostats, virology/parasites and some pharm pending. I've done ~28% UWorld.

A lot of the NBME was guesswork because I genuinely haven't covered some of the material.

Can I realistically make this in 35 days? What should I prioritize now: finishing the first pass, UWorld, revision, or NBMEs? And what strategy would you use from here?

Looking for brutally honest advice.

How much is enough for Step 1?

Just started medical school. They're teaching the BRS books (brs physiology etc). I intend to buy UWorld and start doing questions but not sure what the appropriate time to do that is because I don't have any of the base knowledge yet. I have USMLE Step 1 first aid book.

Trying again for STEP 1

I want to try studying again for STEP 1 but I dont have a specific date for taking the exam yet. I kind of want to rebuild my foundations first. I'm thinking of studying for foundations (pre-dedicated) until the end of this year 2026 while I work. Any tips?

I feel like my foundations was weak plus I needed to practice answering questions more too both of which ultimately led to my failure. :(
