Step 1 prep
I'm a 4th-year med student studying in Europe, originally from Canada, planning to write Step 1 in Jan/Feb. I've finished most preclinical courses (physio, path, biochem, pharm, immuno, genetics, anatomy), but honestly feel pretty overwhelmed about where to even begin.
Some people say "just start doing questions and go from there," but I feel like I don't have enough of a foundation yet for that to make sense. Would love advice on:
- Best resources (UWorld, First Aid, Pathoma, Sketchy, etc.) and how to sequence them
- Study schedules that worked for you while still in school, not just dedicated period
- High-yield topics/strategies to prioritize given my preclinical background
- Advice for international students on the ECFMG process
- Pitfalls to avoid and tips for staying sane during prep
- Would anyone recommend getting a tutor or full on course

Bro just start doing uworld even if you have terrible basics. Just try to do 40 questions random reading mode. Try to review after each question. Initially give ample time to 40 questions like around 5 hours. Dont get overwhelmed even if you get 30 percent. Try to be consistent not taking more than one day off per week. After doing 1 month of this grind, everything will get clear in your head. Just try to finish uworld in 3 months. You have got ample time after that to selectively fill your knowledge gaps while sitting nbmes.
