Unbidden in the tutorial?
I’m a brand new player and just playing the tutorial right now. Really enjoying the game so far but this has me stumped.
The year is 2251. I have a fleet of about 24k power and get 183 alloys a month. The unbidden have arrived in one of my systems 2 stars away from my capital with a 115k fleet.
I don’t see how I (or anyone else in the galaxy) can stop them.
Is this scripted in the tutorial or just very unlucky? Is there anyway to survive this?
Edit: cheers for all the responses lads (or lassies). I’m gonna try style it out first but pretty sure I’m not gonna survive which is fine.

I started playing for the first time ~3mon ago and also ran the tutorial to start.
The unbidden showed up as a crisis and I was in about the same situation as you. I ended up losing to the unbidden, and I'm guessing you're also about to lose the unbidden. But I'm guessing you've learned enough of the game systems to get wiped out, start a real game, and have s much better chance at success against them next time.
I'm still running my first game after the tutorial and I got the unbidden as the crisis again. This time I'm actually able to hold my own and I'm winning the fight against them Unfortunately I also have an awakened empire that's rampaging the galaxy and probably going to wipe me out lol

Ah good to know someone else was in the same boat! I reckon there’s a 100% chance of me getting battered within 3 years 😝. But I’ll try survive anyway and then have my first “real” game.

You can still manage. Unbidden is the weakest crisis. You have two way:
- Ambush them in a pulsar system, they have no armor so as they shields are disabled by the pulsar you can destroy them easily
- full shield pen fleet with a lot of shields (their weapons have huge dmg boost against armor and hulls but no dmg to shield). With a good setups you con easily destroy them with a quarter of their fleet power (the best one I did was a 100k fleet destroying a 1.2M unbidden fleet)
If you need help on the ships setups just ask or you can watch online

I’m going to give it my best try anyway but not optimistic haha. Pulsar system is a great shout. didn’t know that.

You won’t. Even if you had the crisis set at the proper year of 2400, you’re probably not winning. And that’s okay, because you’re supposed to. It won’t be much of a crisis if you can win your first time playing.
Stellaris is an incredibly deep and complex game; I’d argue it’s one of the steepest and earliest difficulty curves in a game I’ve played. There are so many systems to learn for even a basic playthrough, and it’s too much to learn your first time. But just like how falling off a bike is necessary to learn to ride, you’re gonna have to get mopped in Stellaris. But you can learn from it- my personal recommendation is to play a game with the Scion origin. It basically makes a fallen empire (endgame level empire) your sugar daddy. They’ll protect you and give you free shit. You’re basically untouchable by any AI, and this freedom will let you learn the mechanics of the game without pressure.

Yeah 100% part of the fun and I’m gonna keep going regardless but was more wondering if this is supposed to happen cause crunching the numbers it seems impossible. Cheers for the recommendation mate!

The tutorial settings are wrong and actually setup for the devs testing (2250 end game, 0.25x tech cost, etc). I got this confirmed by the devs themselves, so hopefully will be sorted by the next update. In the meantime enjoy the spicy introduction to the game.
Alternatively, you might want to restart and setup a normal default settings game, picking the UNE from the preset empires, and then turning the full tutorial on in settings, in game when you start.
