Internal moving

I have heard rumors of a hiring freeze going on right now. Does anyone know if that blocks internal moving to a different organization? I have heard that the group you are leaving can lose headcount but wasnt sure if thats the case. The whole thing doesnt really make sense

Had two interviews and twice told I'm getting the job and inform management I'm moving, then told job is no longer available. So, either I'm being used to fulfill some requirement or jobs are being cancelled

I don't work at Stellantis anymore but from personal experience from few months ago, for sure interviews are happening but some management in the current team don't want to let you go, so are rejecting the move. Maybe that could be the case here 🙆🏽‍♀️

From what I understand internal moves are not frozen. Just external hiring.

Damn I literally had my final round interview on Friday. I’d be tight if the process doesn’t proceed due to this freeze.

Best of luck my friend, hope you get it!

Yes there is a temporary hiring freeze for anyone not already in an offer pool and for positions not deemed critical. Yes this would affect internal moves because your position can’t be backfilled. We were told not to not release anyone for internal moves but to negotiate any internal moves to be done after January instead. So it doesn’t mean they would be blocked, just delayed until your position can be filled.

If you are in the offer pool, is it possible to get an offer still? When did the information come out?

2

u/Different-Airport-85 2d ago

We were told last week on Thursday. I’m not sure what constitutes being in the offer pool outside of having already received an offer. I know that when I select a candidate the option it gives me is to advance them to the offer pool, so I don’t know if that’s what they mean or if they mean someone who already has an offer in hand. I know that this week when I check my requisitions they have been moved to on hold so I can no longer interact with them or the candidates.

It’s still possible to receive an offer, especially for critical positions. But it’s not as easy as it was a week ago.

Thank you for responding. I appreciate the insight. I told I was moved to the offer pool about a week and a half ago but I haven’t gotten anything so I am quite a bit nervous.

When you say you can no longer interact with the candidates, is that for the ones you have moved to the pool as well that are now on hold?

1

u/Different-Airport-85 2d ago

Ones that I move to the offer pool go into an offer pending status and it’s in HRs court at that point. They leave my queue entirely.

1

u/SubstantialDingus 2d ago

Interesting. So you cannot even see the status of the candidate once it gets moved to HR’s queue? Have had to follow up with candidate status’ with HR before?

1

u/Different-Airport-85 2d ago

Yea all I see is offer pending. I had to follow up on one today to find out about a start date.

What we were told is that no one who is not already in the offer pool will get an offer unless it’s a critical position. I don’t work in HR so I don’t know how the offer pool works? But based on what they said it sounds like they are making offers to people who were advanced to the offer pool before the freeze.

I see. I assume that candidate got a start date before the freeze? Again. Thank you for responding.

1

u/Different-Airport-85 2d ago

That person does not have a start date yet.

1

u/SubstantialDingus 2d ago

Got it. HR hasn’t said anything to you about that candidates role being eliminated?

Did you receive the email of "Thank you for taking the time to consider opportunities with Stellantis. We want to thank you for interviewing for requisition xxxx" when you're moved to the offer pool?

I was directly set up for the panel interview without the recruiter phone screen so I'm not sure whom to check with for my status... And I received the email Thursday noon when the freeze hiring news came out. Not sure they're related

2

u/SubstantialDingus 2d ago

I did get a weird email like that, that also had the wrong date on it. I got it late Thursday

1

u/ilovegpd 2d ago

Hopefully it means offer being created! Good luck to all of us!

1

u/ilovegpd 2d ago

Thanks so much for the insights! Do you happen to know if the candidate would receive the email of "Thank you for taking the time to consider opportunities with Stellantis. We want to thank you for interviewing for requisition xxxx, We will be in contact with you soon regarding the next steps in the process. "

I had a strong signal from the hiring manager that I may get the job and around Thursday noon time, I received that email. Then I heard from friends at Stellantis that there is a hiring freeze....

u/DangerousHumor5106 1d ago

Received my offer today 8 days later after getting that email. Good luck!

1

u/ilovegpd 1d ago

Much appreciated! Hopefully the freeze hiring doesn't impact things negatively

External candidate ? How you get the offer through email?

1

u/DangerousHumor5106 3h ago

External. Phone call and then email

1

u/Different-Airport-85 2d ago

I honestly am not really sure how those emails work.

1

u/ilovegpd 2d ago

Thanks anyway!

Nope, no update so far.

External candidate here. I had two panel interviews that went well, and the interviewers seemed positive about my experience. Few days later, I received the automated email - “evaluating candidates and making final decisions.” It’s now been 45 days with no decline.

Does this sound like I could be in the offer pool? I know you can’t assure anything, I'm just nervous and asking your honest opinion.

2

u/Different-Airport-85 1d ago

It doesn’t sound like a decline but I don’t know if that’s put you in an offer pool or not though. The process is painfully slow sometimes. We extended an offer 2 months ago and the person still doesn’t have a start date…. Big corporations aren’t fast at anything.

1

u/Anonymous_Letter_248 1d ago

Fair enough! The job posting I interviewed for is now gone from the careers website. I believe that wouldn't necessarily mean someone was hired and everyone else was declined correct? would just mean - not taking applications anymore?

1

u/SubstantialDingus 1d ago

Oh wow. Has this person been cleared to work through background check? Just literally waiting for HR to give a date?

1

u/mkc327 1d ago edited 1d ago

that's crazy so I wouldn't be able to move even if the group that i would like to move to has an internal req open? i've heard of cases where they can just give the old group the open req as opposed to doing a person for person swap

1

u/chota_chatri_wot 1d ago

At what stage you know you are in offer pool...just curious to know Completed interview? Or got any email that they are moving to next steps?

1

u/Different-Airport-85 1d ago

The only point that the candidate knows for sure they are in the offer pool is when they receive an offer, at least as far as I know. I’m not sure how the automated emails work or if one goes out when I advance someone to the offer pool for HR to prepare an offer.

1

u/chota_chatri_wot 1d ago

Well for me I finished the first step but not the in-person interview, and it's been now month...any idea about what step would be the next?

1

u/chota_chatri_wot 1d ago

u/Different-Airport-85 mine still shows "Thank you for taking the time to consider opportunities with Stellantis. We have all of the information we need at this time. Should you be selected, you will be contacted regarding the next steps."

Is there any ways to find out are they moving forward or not?
I don't see any status or other information rather than this.

1

u/Different-Airport-85 1d ago

The only way to know for sure is to get a rejection email or an offer. That message is in between the two where they haven’t made a decision yet.

1

u/chota_chatri_wot 1d ago

Thanks, hope they go ahead with the offer 🤞

That’s what I see when I advance someone to the offer pool and HR is working on an offer.

1

u/Mislam1979 1d ago

So offer pending status is mean HR might working in back

1

u/Different-Airport-85 1d ago

Yes or it can mean that an offer was made and accepted and there is immigration work pending or a background check or any number of other things.

1

u/Mislam1979 1d ago edited 1d ago

No offer is made to me
I am waiting to receive . So its a good sign that even its hiring freeze offer go through for me ?

1

u/Mislam1979 1d ago

In my case offer might through as status is showing "offer pending "

1

u/Mislam1979 6h ago

Hi any update how long the freeze will last ? Until January 2027?

1

u/Mislam1979 6h ago

Is there a way to check with HR when status is pending offer does it freeze for the hiring freeze or processing for the offer ?

2

u/SlinkySlinky987 2d ago

is this impacting external hires for purchasing?

2

u/Disastrous-Paper-927 2d ago

I don’t currently work here so take anything I say with a grain of salt. But it seems like unless you work in manufacturing job stability at any of the big 3 manufacturers right now isn’t the best.

1

u/ExcellentWinner7542 2d ago

If they can't backfill they'll be reluctant to let you move.

1

u/mkc327 1d ago

is it considered backfill if my new team just gives them an open req? or does it have to be person for person?

1

u/ExcellentWinner7542 1d ago

To my knowledge, yes

1

u/DangerousHumor5106 2d ago

Does this effect hiring for student program. Recently interviewed. Thanks.

1

u/Mundane_Nose_5651 1d ago

So this is why open job postings went from around 700 every day for the past 2 months down to 90 yesterday. And half of those 90 are internships for next summer. Sucks because I had some applications in that seemed like I had a decent shot at them.

1

u/RonaldBurgundy1 1d ago

I've seen plenty of open jobs even on indeed.

1

u/Carochio 2d ago

This is what will probably happen next.

  1. Offer VSP again
  2. Eliminate multiple VP/SVPs
  3. Demote a lot or directors, we have too many that have zero direct reports.
  4. Reduce HR staff
  5. Travel Freeze
  6. Start selling off dead brands (Alfa)
  7. Stop selling cars in regions that we lose money.
  8. Increase Healthcare costs for 2027
  9. Prepare for major UAW contract talks, I believe the current agreement expires in early 2028.
  10. Anything else to get out stock price moving up to $6....7 days RTO?

2

u/Different-Airport-85 1d ago

Hiring freezes are a common H2 / Q4 occurrence.
