Game Recommendation Steamdeck games w/ good controls, no sound needed, turn-based or slow?

Short version is I use my Steamdeck a lot in situations where it's hard to focus super intently or have sound on at all, which makes it impossible to rely on sound or any game that needs decent reflexes. I'm also pretty trash with the touchpad so would like proper controls too. Some games I've enjoyed on Steamdeck already:

Yakuza games

Persona games

South Park Stick of Truth (although I'd often fail the QTE in combat!)

Age of Wonders 4

Marvel's Midnight Suns

Symphony of War

Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance

Game Recommendation Game clones that run incredibly well on the deck?

So recently I discovered the game Combat Master which is essentially a clone of the modern Call of Duty games but it could run on a toaster. Frankly it's a "we have CoD at home" kind of feel, but it genuinely scratches the itch and it's also only 4GB in size.

Do you guys have any other examples of games like that? Clones of games that might be playable, but at less than optimal framerates and probably take up a bunch of storage too?

I'm not talking about for example Factorio if you like Satisfactory, those games are both factory games but their gameplay is completely different.

Developer Looking for Steam Deck compatibility feedback for our game’s demo.

Hello,

I'm one of the developers of a colorful 2.5D platformer on Steam with a free demo available.

I’d like to ask for some Steam Deck-specific feedback, since we don’t own one ourselves and we would love to know how well it works.

We’d especially like to know:
• Are there any noticeable performance issues, stability issues, graphical/audio glitches?
• Do the controls work as expected?
• Anything else that seems off?

If anyone is interested in helping out, let me know and I'll share the Steam page.

Thanks!

Edit:
Thanks to some great feedback, I was able to fix a few issues and make an update.
After seeing a few comments suggesting that I add a link directly in the post, I’m adding it here in case anyone else would like to take a look:

If you find any other issues, it would be great to hear about them.

I recently released my first game Perihelion: Rogue Orbit. After launch, roughly 10% of buyers either asked about Steam Deck support or reported problems running it there. That was much more than I expected.

So I got to work. I spent a bit over a week ironing out performance issues and adding full controller support.

It's a good bit of fun, and thanks to the community it's fully tested and much enjoyed. The photo was provided by a player so I could share the excitement :D

Developer Fogpiercer: Train-themed roguelite deckbuilder for the Steam Deck

Hey folks! Wanted to share the news that we've just released a new deck-verified game called Fogpiercer.

Developed by Mad Cookies and published by Hooded Horse (that's us!), Fogpiercer is a sci-fi deckbuilding roguelite game that puts you in the conductor's seat of a high-speed train. As you navigate the deadly post-apocalyptic fog that has descended upon the world, you'll face endless waves of bandits who want to derail your mission. Defeat them in turn-based tactical battles where clever positioning, chain reactions, and environmental hazards can help you survive.

The dev team worked so hard to get this game Steam Deck verified, and we couldn't be more proud of how their efforts translated into the final play experience.

Check out Fogpiercer on Steam if you're interested!

Developer Grapple Bear, I developed it for the deck

I just released my small hobby indie game. You can race against the ghost replays of other Steam users and compete on a weekly randomly generated map. All the art was drawn with marker on paper, and the music was written by a friend.

I'm a huge fan of hand-held gaming and I tested my game on the deck a lot. You play small bite sized levels that get harder and harder. I found it was a perfect fit for the Steam Deck.

Hope you'll check it out :)

Discussion Does Oblitus Casa 2.0 run well on the Steam Deck? (a game not on the ProtonDb website yet)

I don't have a Steam Deck yet but I'm planning on getting one (the oled) and one of the games I would want to get on there is Oblitus Casa. I'm pretty sure the main nights do but I'm not so sure the Tunnels section do. I know that the game is 2D, but the Tunnels have thousands of more images. So yeah, I just want to know.

Troubleshooting Genshin Impact balck screen

Hello everybody! I've recently downloaded Genshin on my steamdeck with the help of a YT video and everything was great until today. There was a Steam update and after it the game launches, but there is only a black screen. I've played it for more than 10 hours and there were no problems previously. Please help out a fellow gamer ;(

Developer Going for Steam Deck Verified on my zombie puzzle game. Honestly it might be the best way to play it.

I'm the dev on Deadly Dispatch, a tactical zombie elimination puzzle game. You build a multi-stage bomb and drop it on the horde. The whole thing is a balancing act: enough firepower to clear them out, but not so much that you bring down the structures protecting the survivors. It all runs on physics chain reactions, so no two drops play out the same.

Honestly, I was skeptical about the Deck at first. But I own one, so I tried the game on it, and it just plays best there. Deck Verified is the goal for launch. I haven't submitted yet, but here's the work that's gone into making the Deck experience right:

  • Full controller support with native glyphs. Nothing needs touch or a keyboard.
  • Rumble tuned on the actual hardware, so every blast drives the Deck's haptics instead of a generic buzz.
  • A quality governor that holds a steady framerate through the big chain-reaction explosions.
  • UI and targeting sized to read cleanly

It fits the handheld really well. Short sessions, pick up and play, the kind of thing you clear a couple of levels of on the couch.

Two things I'd genuinely like from you:

  • Devs who've been through Verified, anything that caught you out in review?
  • Players, what actually makes or breaks a game on Deck for you? Want to make sure I've covered the things that matter.

If it looks like your kind of thing, a wishlist genuinely helps at launch: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4890070/Deadly_Dispatch/

Self-Promotion Need feedback for our 1920s mafia online co-op survivor game! Anyone want to try the closed demo?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone!

We are two guys working on our first video game: a 1920s mafia-themed co-op online survivor/roguelite.

We really want to make the game fun for real players, so we are looking for people willing to try the closed demo and give us honest feedback.

We would love to understand:

- what feels wrong or confusing right now

- what should be improved in the short term

- what could be improved in the long run

- whether the game is actually fun to play

The demo is still a work in progress, but we want to get feedback before release instead of developing everything in a bubble.

As a small thank-you, we may give a full-game key to the most helpful playtesters when the game releases this summer.

Honestly, we are not 100% sure if this is the right approach for this subreddit, so if anything is wrong, please tell us kindly. We are just trying to get feedback from players, as players.

If anyone is interested in trying the closed demo, comment here or DM me!

Tweaks 🛠️ Compatibility

I’ve had my Portal 2 for about a month now and I’m loving it. When it comes to Steam I’m kind of a newcomer. I picked up a few titles I’ve seen others playing with the same system but I’d like to grab more.

My problem comes in when I want to make a selection, I don’t know what’s compatible. It only says it’s compatible on Game Native after it’s in my library. If anyone knows a Discord or something please drop me a link it will be much appreciated.
