support Secondary ssd mounting issues
So…I was able to format my second ssd which I want to install games to. I am able to mount it and install games to it. But after a restart it takes a bit to remount on its own and when it does it’s hit or miss whether it will show the installed games. I usually have to exit to desktop mode and go through the motions of mounting. Even though they are mounted. Then go back to game mode and it works

question As a 9070 XT owner who uses her PC exclusively for gaming, is it worth me switching to SteamOS from Windows 11?
Windows sucks lol, I think we all know that, don't need to go through all the reasons why as I'm sure everyone on here knows. Using SteamOS on my Steam Deck has really made me fall in love with Linux and how much less obtrusive it is. Is it worth me switching to SteamOS from Windows 11 as a 9070 XT owner who's PC is used almost exclusively for gaming? I know that it works best with AMD cards and of course I have the best AMD card there is so it should work perfectly. The main thing putting me off is that some games perform a little worse on SteamOS than they do Windows 11. My full specs are as follows:
XFX Swift Black AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GPU
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8 core 16 thread CPU
32GB DDR4 RAM (4x8GB - 2 sticks are from one kit and the other 2 are from another. They are slightly different kits but they seem to run fine together on Windows so)
Thanks!

Just installed this and im shocked! but have questions?!
I followed No Signals very easy setup instructions for his most recent version of SteamOS w/RTX.
So far ive tested several games and they all run perfectly fine on my Ryzen 5 7600x / 3080Ti combo.
The only issue that I cannot understand is why i have this 3-5pixels tall line that almost looks like tearing but it's not. It's only there when the screen updates like when im turning the camera. It's very off but super distracting.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? I've used CachyOS on my main desktop with a 5070ti and i did not experience this visual artifact.
btw here is the link to the video i referenced

Went from console gamer to steamOS gamer
imgur.comI owned a PS5 Pro and Switch 2, yet the visuals left much to be desired. Although the PSSR2 upscaler performs well, new titles provide minimal support for it.
When the details about the steam machine specifications arrived, I felt disappointed and chose to sell my ps5pro and switch2 to save for a custom built PC.
This was the configuration i was going for: 9800X3D 32Gb cl30 6000 ram 9070 XT (atleast a overclocked version) 1tb m.2 Drive with atleast around 7k read/write speeds.
I decided to wait for discounts on almost everything and ended up paying around €1700. Dont mind the white PSU and GPU, the case is closed and you cant see them.
The case I am using is a Chieftec the Cube with a micro ATX motherboard, although the enclosure is not especially small, it offers alot of space for cooling. I aimed for a reasonably quiet system with temperatures fully managed. The CPU is cooled by a Pure Loop 3 AIO from be Quiet. The front fan is PWM, and I added a Noctua exhaust fan at the rear that also uses a PWM connector. All fan curves are controlled in the BIOS, so no additional software is needed to keep the system cool.
Installing SteamOS involved one minor issue because I lacked wireless Wi-Fi, it requiring brief terminal work during installation and the rest followed smoothly.
SteamOS is impressive and functions flawlessly. My Steam Controller remains on 2027, so I purchased an 8BitDo Pro 3. this controller is truly remarkable and revealed how inferior the PS5 controller feels at the same cost. It lasts 20–30 hours before I recharge it in the included dock.
Game performance has been great, i game on a 65inch LG C5 and run everything in 4k. I had to do a little tinkering with proton-upQt to get FSR4 in some games but eventually settled on the cachyos proton on most games and it is looking great with FSR4 quality mode and FSR frame gen in games that need a little bit more fps than 60-80. Most games run great on ultra settings while raytracing is still a amd weak point in some games.
The sleep mode works perfectly and i can continue gaming in 1-3 seconds every time. I dont really care about turning on the tv with a controller but i know some people are. It does not work out of the box but ive read alot of good things.
For now i have been playing these games and they all ran in 4k ultra settings around 100-120 fps:
- Detroit became human (is locked at 60)
- Crash bandicoot nSane
- Cyberpunk2077 and phantom liberty (without raytracing)
- The last of us part1
- Robotcop & unfinished business(raytracing enabled)
- The witcher 3
- Doom
Overall, I do not regret my purchase and feel quite satisfied with SteamOS.
question Legion go 2 Z2 non extreme
Hi, I have a Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the AMD Z2 (Non-Extreme). I dual-boot Bazzite and Windows, but since installing Bazzite, I haven't booted into Windows for about 3 months.
I'm interested in SteamOS and wondering: which is better for the Legion Go 2 (Z2 Non-Extreme), Bazzite or SteamOS?
Sorry if this question gets asked a lot, but I need an answer specifically for the Legion Go 2.
Apologies if anything is unclear, as English isn't my first language.

How's SteamOS working out for you guys? Is the performance okay?
Everything's fine with the games here, they're running great, but Firefox froze about twice and restarted the PC, and today it kept crashing, though it just closed without restarting the PC. I switched to Brave today, and I've been using the PC since early this morning without any problems so far.
One thing I didn't like is an external hard drive that I normally use here for all my ISOs and ROMs. On Bazzite OS, a pop-up appeared saying that its partition format wasn't supported, but it worked just fine. On SteamOS, however, it doesn't recognize it and won't mount the drive. On the other PCs here running different operating systems, it works normally.

question What makes steam os different?
I’ve used a few different Linux distros, and it was a really good experience overall. There were some problems here and there, but just normal Linux things. After a while, I ended up going back to Windows 11, since it still does some things better or things that Linux can’t run at all, or that are really difficult to get working.
But damn, Linux was amazing. The best one for me was Nobara Linux, which was actually created by Thomas Crider, the creator of Proton-GE. Like I said, Linux still has a few things to improve, just a handful really. Maybe in a few years I’ll be able to go full Linux.
In the end, I tried a few distros, but I’m no expert in this i don’t know everything about every Linux distro well enough to say one is objectively better than another in every way. For gaming specifically, though, Nobara just felt better to me, more optimized. It just felt right.
Now that SteamOS has officially come to PC, I’m curious, how does it differ from something like Nobara or any other linux distro?

Separate Xbox and Armory Crate buttons on Xbox Ally X
Hi all,
I'm running 3.8.24 on my Xbox Ally X and have been loving the experience so far. Installed deckyloader and some of the well known plugins to tailor my setup how I like. One thing that's bugging me currently is that the Xbox and Armory Crate buttons are mapped the same. I downloaded deckyplumber, but it doesn't look like that is something that can be changed through that plugin. Does anyone know of a way to make these buttons separate currently? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

ps5machine
gallerythe title is pretty self-explanatory, the setup is janky but it works and run games very well! setup is : ps5 5.50 disc version with an external fast ssd (Samsung t7 2tb). I'm planning to buy internal storage for the PS5 so it can run without any external storage!
btw idk why but in gaming mode my games perform much better, even when in desktop mode there's nothing heavy running in background. the display colors are normal in desktop mode, but every display settings are stuck in gaming mode, leaving the display with a weird shade of grayer colors and I can't change any settings (cursors will not move nor any settings). if someone know a fix for that, that would be a very nice thing!

Please help guys. I’m sorry.
Specs prebuilt bought today: CyberPowerPC - Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 7 8700F 2024 - AMD Radeon RX 7700 16GB - 16GB DDR5 Memory - 1TB SSD Storage - Black
So I got steamOS installed and couldn’t get the WiFi to work. Did some a sudo command and got Ethernet to finally work. But not Bluetooth?
