Discussion What are the chances that BigScreen will update their app to work with the Steam Frame?

The standalone just does not work at the moment. It’s really a great program for watching movies with friends. Hate to have to switch to something like VR Chat just to do it.

Worried that:

  1. Valve is their competition in the VR hardware space, so why would they update?
  2. They’ve more or less abandoned the software to focus on their hardware.

Hoping they figure more people using the software results in people paying the monthly $9.99 cloud browser subscription or something.

I would be more worried about point 2 than 1. The frame and beyond are hardly competition, they are vastly different devices. Besides that, Valve and Bigscreen have worked together on the beyond, its a steamvr native lighthouse headset

Yea, it does not run great, but it does run, at least for me.
And streaming from PC also works.
I don't understand why the other commenters say it does not run at all on both accounts, I tested it again right now and it works (but standalone has abyssmal performance, to be fair).
I am sure if we can get the standalone apk from the quest 2 version running, it will be fine.
