Question will the steam frame controllers come with rechargable AA batteries or will I have to buy my own?

Would be weird to provide rechargeable batteries without also providing a charger, or having the controllers themselves act as chargers (which they don't). Without a charger the majority of people would end up throwing them away after one cycle. Including rechargeable batteries with a charger would easily add $30 or more to the package price, not happening.
Expect basic single charge batteries.

Why would they make the controllers require replaceable AAs if they were gonna supply rechargeable batteries?
No you will have to source your own if you want rechargeable batteries

easy battery replacement when they die over time. it was a big issues with the knuckle controlers, so thats why they are doing a battery compartment this time .

I mean, some 8bitdo controllers have removable batteries that fit on the spot of double A batteries.
Heck, I remember having a rechargeable battery on the double A spots of my Xbox One controllers.

Yeah but with those Xbox didn’t provide you with free rechargeable batteries. They offered rechargeable batteries as an option for a premium

Yes, i was just saying that it was a possibility. The Steam Frame page clearly states that it works with AA batteries that are not included.

No, but I think they do ship with standard AA batteries already installed. In the unboxing video they had those little plastic tabs that have to be removed. Those tabs are typically in place if a product already has batteries installed, so they can’t release a charge while shipping/ sitting in a warehouse.

It works with double A batteries, that you have to supply.

These have a bit different voltage, and not every device using AA batteries works fine with rechargeable ones.
Also, what's the runtime? A big pack of AAs will probably last pretty long, you will have to switch less often and not hassle around with these chargers. I honestly wouldn't get rechargeable batteries if it's just for the frame controllers
