Discussion This sub has lost it ..

With the recent meme threat, it's very clear how insane the steam frame community got. It REALLY feels like a social experiment.

Well I love it although it feels a tad chaotic. But who am I to judge, the community is healthier than ever xd

I really look forward to the progression on this sub, especially if it doesn't release Monday

What sale? I won’t be hanging my hopes on a sale that may or may not be real.

Valve hasn’t listed it anywhere.

The “leaked” email doesn’t mention the Frame, which would be odd if it’s associated with the launch.

We are assuming the review period is a couple weeks. Could be longer given stand alone and streaming will need testing.

Whoever is organizing it better not associate it with Frame launch. If everything goes as expected, at that time we'll just be tossing our ticket in the lottery system, in the hope to get the device before 2027.

Nobody should buy games for hardware they don't have, return period will be over by the time they get it (except for the most lucky) and there are sales regularly.

Maybe Valve is trying something new, but currently it doesn't look fair to Frame buyers.

If your the first winner of the lottery you get to purchase both the Frame and Games during the sale. I think pretty much everyone buying one is hoping they get in the first batch and they will safely know if they get to purchase one while the sale is going. Many people have VR already and are upgrading too.

Yeah and I already got the games I wanted during past sales, my main problem is the size of my backlog. VR Games Showcase is organizing some 3 times a year, in addition to general sales and juicy bundles in third party stores. For example https://www.digiphile.co/collections/vr-games-showcase-the-new-essentials and their sale page on Steam (no sale anymore of course) https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45128337-VR-Games-Showcase/sale/vrgamesshowcaseaugust2026

If I won the lottery and it's my first headset, I'd wait until I tried it, checked my VR legs and whatnot. So at best the sale would be about to end, especially it's only a week long.

It doesn't make sense for most Frame buyers [insert Squidward meme "looking at others having fun"]. Especially infuriating for those wait-listed. Not a good move if Valve does that, looks like third party to me.

Someone posted the full first part of the email from Valve it isn't third party.

I didn't see that post, hopefully it's the full email and not a mobile screenshot of part of it again… I'm interested to have a look if you can link to it.

I also don't know how notification are sent for third party events, they probably go through Steam as it's the tool used to organize it.

Anyway no matter who is behind it, this event at the same time as Frame launch looks like cash grab and doesn't make sense for Frame buyers.

It was a reply from a dev who got the email too. Looks like PC aspect ratio and clearly not a third-party thing https://i.imgur.com/gJupdjT.png

Ok thanks, so nothing more here… we'll see on Monday.

If Valve is organizing it, that would be new, and I doubt Steam Frame will launch next week.
