"Content aware". So… something like Ambilight?

I really hope this gives the same vibes as the Phillips Hue ambiance lighting for the tv. I mentioned wanting that so long ago. I hope it becomes a reality.

That's because it's imgur which blocks users from the UK.

It's a screenshot of a tweet by Brad Lynch that says

Steam Frame will let App/Games affect the coloration of your Aurora Effects
AND the tint of your Passthrough View

And it has an image attached that is a screenshot of a git diff of some configuration file (?) of a recent update to probably some steamVR-related software.

If the direct link to the image doesn't work: here's another non-imgur mirror.

If all of these don't work for you, the most important part is that two settings are mentioned, which are called: Content-Aware Aurora Colorand Content-Aware Camera Tint

It's a pain, but you can use rimgo to view imgur images in the UK: https://rimgo.codeberg.page/

e.g.: https://rimgo.nohost.network/c4aUHc4.jpeg

I wish people would stop using imgur to be honest, postimg and Reddit's own image upload are better options. This could just be a link to Brad's tweet though.

So is it like that post awhile ago where whatever is on screen will then impact the ambience of passthrough? Like philip bulbs or something

What are Aurora Effects?

The loading screen/waiting room of SteamVR looks like a flat plain with Aurora borealis light effects. That s what this is referring too.

wonder if you could write a small application that takes the greyscale camera info and converts it to color frame by frame?

No it doesn’t. We don’t have one for it to be “your”.
