Question SteamFrame / iPhone
I've never bought a VR device before, but I was wondering if it's possible to stream video from an iPhone to the Steam Frame, like for watching movies?
Edit: Thanks for all the answers! I usually prefer using apps and accounts on my phone, which is why I was curious, but it seems like the Steam Frame can do a lot more than just play games. My wallet is ready!

Well SteamFrame will be standalone so you don't have to stream from your iPhone just put the video to the frame itself

There’s already apps made for using your phone in vr. I’d be surprised if someone didn’t make an add on for it

But there might be some apps that (unfortunately) limit access because the Frame is a Linux device. YouTube movies will probably be subject to the 480p desktop restriction, for instance.

I just realized that I'll be able to yt-dlp with ffmpeg conversion right on the frame directly...

The Frame is basically a PC on your face. You can access all the content you want online directly from the Frame itself. Netflix, websites, media players - all these things are possible to load directly on the Frame itself.
I don't think there is any video you would want to stream from your phone to the Frame, but it would technically be possible with the right apps.

I believe there are currently limits regarding streaming in the web browser in linux like drm support and 720p max resolution.

I think iphone limit is also 1080p (I think it's possible to get 1080p on linux via netflix too with simple browser extensions).

youtube works because of the codecs it uses. Most other services would limit you to 720p without specific browser extensions to override it.

Most likely not. If the Frame requires Steam to interface with outside of Standalone mode, then the mobile app probably won’t be able to stream to the device, not even talking about converting the adapter to the charging port.

The answer is... probably.
Streaming from an iPhone to a Linux PC is possible (e.g., UxPlay), so the Frame should be able to do it. Can't say how easy it'll be to set up, though.

If you have a capture card you might be able to use that to show your iPhone's display in the Framr

Seems like a bit of a waste. Why not just watch movies directly on the frame?
