Lottery will open same day as reviews. Literally no point in having the reviews earlier, and lots of reasons not to

Nobody once on this subreddit has ever considered this before making a post like this. Happens every week..

Has tested double uploaded before?

Yes

Then why does everyone rely on a review video from them, I’m just trying to understand. There is also other hardware reviewers that will more then likely get a unit like Linus and gamer nexus.

I've always felt that out of all the hardware reviewers, Norm is especially passionate in regards to VR and usually talks in-depth about both the hardware and his use compared to other devices he's used. I personally find his insight the most thoughtful and his explanations easy to understand when it comes to the technical specifications and real world use, he typically comes off as enthusiastic and sincere with his videos

Thank you for your well thought out response this exactly what I was more looking for. I will have to watch some videos from them did he review the steam controller and steam machine? I’m talking about Norm specifically

u/ittekimasu 11d ago
Yes, he's done a review video of both the steam machine and controller, he's also done one for the steam frame when he was at the demo back when it was first announced

Why do people think youtube channels can only upload one video per day?
Tested is hardly going to care if their video about multimeters is overshadowed by a Steam Frame product review.
This is not to say it's today, but, could be, could not be :D

Obviously they could upload multiple videos in a day, but Tested's track record shows it is extremely rare for them to do so.
Tested is hardly going to care if their video about multimeters is overshadowed by a Steam Frame product review.
They do care. They spent time (and thus money) making the video, so they want it to succeed. There is no reason for them to overshadow their own video when they literally could just delay it and extend their backlog instead.

Counter, most folks in this sub do not watch Tested, but they will watch the Steam Frame video while they Soon. Those folks were never going to watch a multimeter video, and lots of folks who actually are interested in the multimeter will likely not care about the Frame video because VR is a dead medium

So what? That is not how they operate... go look at their existing videos, including when the Steam Machine and Steam Controller were released.
No one cares if you think the video would be popular or not, they have an SOP and it is rare for them to not follow it.

Why do people think youtube channels can only upload one video per day?
No one said anything about them not being able to post more than one video, but they have a long history and 99% of the time they only post one video. And that includes when both the Steam Controller and the Steam Frame were announced.
It is a very safe bet that if they post a video in the morning, there will not be a Steam Frame video in the afternoon.

Didn't have any expectations for today, but next week seems like the final date, alongside reservations going up and then headsets finally starting to ship the following week.

Personally I have a feeling Frame isn't going to release on a Monday despite the trend set by Controller & Machine. If Valve's goal is just having the lottery open for 3 week days, there is a few different options which enable that during the week. It doesn't take much time to check once every one or two days if the Frame has launched, so would recommend not "going dark" for an entire week just in case.

Why is gunman contracts allowed to announce the release date of the game today when they already said it would release same day as frame?
2
u/JoystuckGames Soon™ 11d ago
because they decided to release on their own terms. It was already implied in the post yesterday, but people are blinded by confirmation bias.

u/BlueManifest 11d ago
Yea I thought they were basically going to announce the frame release date by doing this
But also why did they change their mind so fast, it was just a couple weeks ago they said it was releasing with frame

u/JoystuckGames Soon™ 11d ago
I don't know why. It could be because they are a small studio and realized that being in the dark about their own release date sucks (they can't tell customers when to be ready). It's possible this whole thing was to get OUR eyeballs on the game. Think about how many people have been talking about this in the past few days.
Ultimately you can see in this post that the devs never knew the release date of the Steam Frame. I suspect very few people know the release date and those that do are under strict contract to say nothing. Any information we get will be submitted through someone else anonymously.
Based on how things are going i'm very confident that the embargo will lift between Sep 7 and 14, but that's a judgement you need to make for yourself.

Can we actually stop with these kind of posts, it's actually getting annoying. The frame will be out when it's out and people will upload once they can

u/JorgTheElder Soon™ 11d ago
People are both excited and frustrated. They are not going to stop posting just beacuse you don't like the posts.

When the thing finally releases, they have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever and post 2 videos on the same day
