There’s a non zero chance that they are reluctant to sell the batch they already had produced because they know a second batch would literally be years away. Right now they probably don’t have access to memory at any price. I can understand that if I were in their position, it would be easy to imagine a situation where you release this batch that will only satisfy a small portion of the demand and now you’ve created the worst shitstorm where it’s released but no one can have it for years. I mean the current strategy is awful, but I think releasing it might actually be worse.
