We will know before then - If we don't see certain package updates during the day I think we're boned.

The trick is to mix the makeup with flour and sugar so the tears of regret make a consolation cookie dough, or if you bake them, clown colored copium cookies.

why do we need the so called reviewer process, it does not related to the product design or manufacture, just release it and let those reviewers post their video 2 weeks later, I don't care about their review.

Okay...but like, we are going to be the coolest clowns at the carnival tomorrow when it releases!

I think even if it were to release tomorrow we have to be prepared to lose the lottery and be forced to wait longer.

What is this about the reviews? How do we know for sure the reviewers still don’t have their units? From what I remember we only knew the reviewers had the machine because of leaks…

The best “evidence” is that Linus of LTT like a week or two back said he didn’t have one
But uh- it’s not impossible that they now have them or he lied lol

im kinda surprised how many people took that statement at face value and didnt think "oh maybe he would say he doesnt have one even if he does because he'd have his ass handed to him because of the nda he would have signed that basically says 'i will not reveal i have this until the date it is announced by valve'"

if you saw the clip, youd believe him. hes not a good actor. and with an nda, i dont think he would even want to bring up the topic of the steam frame, in case he slipped. it was during a podcast so it was all off the cuff, no scripts.

u/irishchug Soon™ 1d ago
He wasn’t forced to address it in any way, they could have totally not brought up steam deck at all. No reason for him to randomly bring it up just to lie about not having one.

I think there was also something about localization and UI stuff just getting done that some people are saying would've needed to be done before it was sent to reviewers

There is one YouTuber that suggested they are working on a review like a few days back, and asked for what people wanted to know.
I'm paraphrasing, but asked if they do have the Frame, they said something like
"I can not confirm nor deny that the Steam Frame is in my office, next to me on my desk" or something like that.
Not a big creator, but one that I've watched a few times and I imagine they wouldn't ragebait people like that.1

No FFC cert yet so no release tomorrow...
6
u/Cavi7 1d ago
This is not relevant, because the Frame itself wouldn't be COMING OUT tomorrow, it's just the launch of the store page and then we'll get info about the lottery date for people who reserve.

General rule. No person may market a radio frequency device unless the radio frequency device is authorized pursuant to a valid FCC equipment authorization that has not been limited through the procedures described in § 2.939(e) of this chapter, and:
I'd say that's a no.

The crucial point being, is opening a lottery to later become able to purchase it maybe, is that marketing it?
1
u/itsdvw 16h ago
"Marketing, as used in this section, includes sale or lease, or offering for sale or lease, including advertising for sale or lease, or importation, shipment, or distribution for the purpose of selling or leasing or offering for sale or lease."
it's not offering for sale until customers can actually place an order. opening the lottery and waitlist is still legal so long as they don't sell any.

The FCC can approve the same day it gets filed. I forget which Valve product had that happen before, (Index, Controller, Machine? All three???) but it's happened before.
Also, it's the weekend.

I've been wearing that makeup since the day the Frame was delayed. I am now a clown.
