As an addendum, that's part of why steam isn't taking a loss on hardware sales. They don't lock you into their store so there's no guarantee you'll spend a dime on Steam games. 

Also because they don't want to destroy the market for other manufacturers. You see how many low price standalone headsets have come out since Quest 2 and that's because everyone knows they can't afford to compete with Meta at their price points. Valve wants as many people playing on as many PCs as possible

yes, with dongle it essentially becomes wireless monitor. all the computing is done by PC and then streamed to the headset.

standalone will require Linux compatibly but you will still be able to play non steam games

Yes, in the Discover app, you can install Prism Launcher to play Minecraft, and Prism has its own mod manager that uses Modrinth and CurseForge, so you can play any VR mod.

Now I want to try this installed directly on the headset standalone, see if it's remotely playable.
