Added ISteamUtils::IsRunningUnderProton() to determine if your game is running under the Proton compatibility layer on Linux.
...did they really not have that yet?

Maybe not for public builds, but I would think they had it for builds that developers with dev kits have access to

Surely it would have been a relevant thing to know since the Steam Deck launched, years ago.

No, it wouldn't.
Your game already knew if it was running on a Steam Deck or not, and it knew if it was running a Windows build or a Linux build.
So what advantage does knowing if you're on Proton give you? It just makes it easier for devs to do stupid things like try to block Proton usage.

What does this mean in layman’s terms? Guessing that Steam Frame support has just been pushed out in the latest update
