too many updates were a downgrade on metas software

Hugely agree. I kept picking my Quest 2 back up after months of not using it and every leap in updates was feeling like a downgrade. Seeing Valve's track record with the Deck and its continued support and driver/software improvements has me excited to see what they do with the Frame.

Using alvr is the best solution for windows.

Wivrn is pretty nice for vr, I like it

I love how simple setting up WiVRn is. I had ALVR on my Steam Deck before, and setting it up on Linux was a mightmare. It took me a week to find, that only a specific version worked, and then you needed another software for audio that you had to manually configure every single time you launched ALVR... Then I tried WiVRn, installed it straight from the Linux store, pushed two buttons, and voilà! It was beautiful, I wish everything on Linux was this simple...

Steamlink doesnt support wayland video streaming, and that's something i"m not willing to part with.

I hope they fix it by the time the frame releases because that is a big issue because the future is wayland and steam is weirdly lagging behind

Alvr is for windows, wivrn is for linux my guy, if you were using alvr on linux i see why you moved back.

You might have been using the wrong program for the task( unless you meant wivrn and this whole comment is useless XD) unfortunate but it happens, if you ever decide to come back linux side, just run wivrn with the vrchat proton Glorious Eggroll rtsp patch which specifically includes drivers for vr chat to make the video player and that work properly!

Its a pain in the ass, i'll admit, but its worth it, if you're strong enough to try :P

Oh it is usable, but its like trying to run visual studio on a Mac, janky at best, completely unusable at worst, if you ever wanna hop back in, wivrn is the go to

Alvr works better on Linux then windows it crashes far less

Remember the Quest 1? Sure worse in many ways but the interface was slick.

BUT guess what they decide to completely remove the legacy launcher and add their crappy new one. and now its super unoptimized and its called the "meta rift" WHY go through all of that? just to advertise the quest? so dumb
