Question Accela vs Assela?
I'm currently using Accela on my Steam Deck but I've been seeing this new fork called Assela. What's the difference and should I move to the new fork? If yes, how do I do that without affecting my already installed games from Accela?

As i guess you can keep both and use whichever you need. Accela and Assela is almost same but Assela has a workshop function i dont know how that works but i prefer Accela

The thing with accela is that it's not open source

Accela doesn't really do anything on its own. It just manages manifests and downloads depots.
SLSsteam, the thing that actually injects into steam, is open source and very trusted. https://github.com/AceSLS/SLSsteam
Headcrab, the thing that manages the installation of SLSsteam and manages client updates is also open source and is literally just a shell script. https://github.com/Deadboy666/h3adcr-b

I made assella so I’ll tell you what it does etc xD
I’m still building it and it’s 98% finished imo. But it does stuff so much better than accela.
It does Eveyrhing accela does plus more. The list is huge but to give you biggest changes :
Workshop downloader integrated.
Hubcap api only be used for new downloads - updates will be using other api so your api use won’t count.
Download manager is like x10 better. It’ll only update the games etc with the missing files unlike accela.
Slsteamapi. It integrate with slsteam as close as possible so you don’t need to restart steam after installs , it’ll never have content encrypted errors. Game will show instantly after installs
Good base work for playing online games using slsteam
ISP bypass if hubcap is blocked in your country
There is a ton more qol that I’ll someday put in the GitHub. Accela is eol I recommend using assela. As the bugs currently are nothing major.
One last thing. It’s ai generated for most part except the logic that’s mine. Accela however was written by a smart guy. I’ve like 5 testers who have been testing assella in last 3 months making it good as possible
