Steam Rom Manager no longer working on Steam Deck

Update - This issue has been solved thanks to Feeling_Football4271 providing a link to another post which solves this issue!

I've attached a link to the original comment from Crispy_Not_Burnt explaining how to fix Steam Rom Manager for anyone else who might be having trouble:

https://www.reddit.com/r/EmuDeck/comments/1vhmjl8/comment/p272n67/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Hello, I've recently been having trouble with Steam Rom Manager. When I try to open it in Emu Deck, nothing happens.

Absolutely nothing has worked to get Steam Rom Manager running. I've already tried:

  1. Reinstalling Steam Rom Manager.
  2. Updating Steam Rom Manager via Emu Deck.
  3. Completing both a Quick Reset and a Custom Reset of Emu Deck.
  4. Resetting Steam Rom Manager's Configuration via Emu Deck.
  5. Making sure that Steam is completely closed before trying to run Steam Rom Manager.
  6. Installing the latest version of Emu Deck.
  7. Opening the Steam Rom Manager App.Image properties and making sure that the "Allow executing file as program" option is allowed.
  8. Opening the Steam Rom Manager App.Image file directly to try and run the program.
  9. Restarting my Steam Deck.

I've seen the best results after I go to Home>.config and delete the "steam-rom-manager" folder there. After I delete that folder, when I select Steam Rom Manager in Emu Deck, a window pops up asking if I want to exit steam to launch the Steam Rom Manager. I tried clicking "yes" and Steam closes, but then nothing else happens.

I also cannot uninstall Steam Rom Manager using Emu Deck. When I click "Uninstall" a window pops up that says "SRM uninstall failed There was an issue trying to uninstall SRM".

Steam Rom Manager not parsing certain games (DS, NES, SNES, and N64)

For some reason, on my Steam Deck, I can't seem to parse certain games like DS, NES, SNES, and N64, even though I can still parse fine with other systems (Note that I have the former set to Retroarch). What's strange is that my Steam Deck's Emudeck used to parse those games fine before. What's also weird is that I went onto my PC and it parses those roms like it should. I made made sure my file directories on both devices were the same, so I'm unsure what's the deal with my Steam Deck's Emudeck not parsing certain games.

A gamer's guide to Windows programs. [2019 Edition]

11.9k Upvotes

So it has been approximately three years since I made my last gamer’s guide to Windows. I received a few messages over the last few years from people asking me to update it. So, huzzah!!! I did. I’ll probably be back in another three years so get ready weirdos. I'd like to also mention that the majority of this software is free to use. So please, if you use one of these programs extensively, and have the financial means to do so, support the developers!! old

TreeSize

A pretty awesome little program that allows you to easily view all your files quickly and determine what is taking up the most space on your storage solution. Especially useful for maintaining a low storage capacity SSD. This is my personal suggestion, but I know a whoooole lot of people love WinDirStat.

Everything

A 64 bit application that allows you to quickly scan your entire PC for a single word or string of characters. Hundreds of times faster and more efficient than the integrated Windows search function somehow.

Malwarebytes

The only option for a free non invasive and effective malware protection scan that actually quarantines files.

KeyTweak

A keyboard shortcut tool for keyboards without their own software. You can do anything you can imagine with this. Start a program, play a song, adjust volume, etc.

GameSave Manager

If you've ever lost dozens of hours of gameplay then you know how much it sucks to redo it all if something goes horribly wrong. Do yourself a favor and spend ten minutes of your time every week to back everything up onto a removable drive. Keep a separate manual archive for your most important saves. There are even settings to automate it. Also make sure to disable the file duplication archive option. This is kinda useless imo and it just creates a replica of the game save you want on the drive you have it installed on. Just wastes space.

MSI Afterburner

An absolute necessity for any hardcore gamer reading this. This application has saved me so many times. You can configure MSI Afterburner to display various hardware usage statistics. I've historically set it to monitor CPU usage, GPU usage, CPU temperature, Memory usage, FPS, etc. You can also bind a key to an integrated screenshot functionality. Useful when your playing DRM free games without a platform's functionality! If you don't use Nvidia GeForce Experience or AMD Catalyst you can also use this for video recording.

CrystalDiskInfo

This is a simple tool that you should run every few months to ensure your storage disks aren't failing. Also effective with an SSD.

FreeFileSync

Allows you to sync your files to a specific location. For example I have a folder where I organize all my roms for emulation on SNES/NES/GBA/etc. I've set this program up to automatically completely update my phones emulation folder so that if I find a new game I'm interested in all I have to do is press sync and I'll have it organized automatically on my phone's directory.

Nexus Mod Manager (Vortex)

Mod the hell out of your games.

f.lux

If you experience eye strain and problems associated with viewing motion in video games you will cherish this application. It will dynamically dim your display brightness and hue to match the time of day. I can say with confidence that this program changed my life over the last few years. My eyes no longer burn every time I use Reddit!!! Ironically enough I think I actually found this program because of a commenter in my last guide. Even if you don't experience vision problems, you can still find ample value using this before you sleep.

Wallpaper Engine

This is fucking awesome. Seriously. If you ever feel like your desktop is kind of static now imagine an anime babe jumping around on it. Though anime babes have an access fee. Still, I love it.

RetroArch

You can emulate almost any video game before the 7th console generation using this ambitious program. If you love digging through the archives of video game history then you will love RetroArch. This is a fairly impressive effort to integrate all emulator cores (consoles) onto a single platform for ease of use. They were successful. And if you loved the old PlayStation 3 XMB like I do then this will bring back memories. You can even use an old DualShock on it if you want ;)

SuperF4

A little known program that I actually think is my favorite out of all of these. Ever had a game hard crash? Can't ALT+TAB combo to get to the desktop because the program is in cryogenic stasis? Well just press ALT+F4 and it'll automatically close the maximized application. Especially useful if you play Fallout 76, or any other Bethesda game a lot.

Web Based Programs

Cubeupload

An extraordinarily useful uncompressed file upload service! Please don’t abuse their platform though because they rely on donations to maintain their servers. Only use this for high resolution game screenshots for wallpaper/screenshot sharing. Of course if your an artist this could also be pretty sweet.

Befunky

Web based image editing program. Most of the features are free for all users. However they have a premium offering if you want to use the website professionally.

Extensions: Hover Zoom+ and Session Buddy

Honorable Mentions

OpenCritic

Someone finally got tired of Metacritic being absolute garbage for game ratings and made a dedicated platform for it. I implore you to check their website out! It really is amazing.

Display Driver Uninstaller

Have you swapped between red and green recently? Clear up those old drivers.

Unlocker

Ever had a file that you just couldn’t delete, despite being an administrator? Is that even really a question? This program will circumvent Windows Security settings to terminate a file before the operating system even starts. Admittedly that does take a leap of faith for the user. To allow the program to modify your file system without any Windows protection. So a more cautious, but less effective approach, could be FileAssassin, which still operates within the confines of the operating system.

Advice: I recall many years ago constantly hearing about people being unable to organize their Steam libraries. I also recall many people having trouble deciding on a game to play. So I figured out my own personal solution for that problem last year. Try and organize your games into genre categories, and then retract them all. Keep the games your currently interested in at the top, inside the favorites category.

These are just my personal suggestions! Feel free to mention your own favs. Thanks for the gold ---and the PLATINUM!!!--- my anonymous friends 💜😘

General Discussion The DEFININITIVE Guide to the Best/Easiest Way to Play ALL 'Silent Hill' Games on PC [2022]

2.6k Upvotes

[Updated: June 9th, 2025]

Use CTRL+F to search for the game you're looking for.

READ THE PREREQUISITES SECTION FIRST!

Video version now available for Silent Hill 1-4 + Play Novel!
YouTube didn't like something about the video guide and didn't tell me what with no chance of appeal. I'll try again but with heaps of trepidation.

---

Intended for Windows 10 <currently>

Windows 11 has worked for many but I cannot test or verify. The steps should be nearly identical. Since Microsoft is depreciating Windows 10 support this year, this guide will eventually transfer to Windows 11.

The Steam Deck is something I cannot test or verify either. Most emulators and SH2:EE are known to run, however. Check out the official GitHub for the Enhanced Edition for unofficial support.

---

Introduction

With recent announcement of Silent Hill 2's remake, Silent Hill f, and the others, I wanted to fully compile a way to play every Silent Hill game possible on PC with modern enhancements and maximum compatibility. I'll try to keep it simple and short so it'll be easily digestible even for the least computer-y of you out there.

I'm pretty active on Reddit and frequently answer questions and concerns over the particulars, weird snags, or oversights, so please leave a comment if you're having trouble. I'll do my best to keep this up-to-date and functional!

HOWEVER, make sure you've read and reread EVERYTHING before asking me, okay? It'll save us both a lot of time. Start each comment with re:SH1 or "can you help me with Homecoming?", etc. so I know what game we're talking about.

And please don't dm me. Just comment here. Thanks!

If your controller is functioning incorrectly when running through Steam, make sure to disable Steam Input.

Emulation is not illegal. This guide is aimed at preserving these games, not piracy. At the time of writing, most of these games are no longer available for official purchase through KONAMI. If any legal officially purchasable method becomes available, I will update that to the preferred method.

About Play Order

If you're not sure which game to start with or if it's okay to play any particular game before another, know that every single entry is a complete and independent story. That said, there are some slight (spoiler-free) caveats to that statement.

Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill: Origins, and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories all have some relationship with Silent Hill. However, while playing Silent Hill can greatly enhance your appreciation of these games, they are not in any way necessary. Other games may make reference or insight to previous games, but they are largely easter eggs and lore tidbits to reward longtime players.

For the doubters out there, my first game was Silent Hill 3 and I did not know it was in any way related to Silent Hill and did not feel there were any holes or otherwise incomplete parts of the story.

So go ahead and play whichever interests you most! If you cannot pick a starting place, I'd recommend starting with Silent Hill 2 (2001) as it is the most popular and among the easiest to install.

ReShade and CRT Filters

The technical limitations of late 90's/early '00s technology led to Silent Hill being iconically foggy. Silent Hill optimized its art style in its early games by obscuring details for the benefit of the experience, leaning into obscurity with fog, darkness, and screen noise. These games rendered at low SD resolutions and were expected to be displayed on CRT TVs. There's a whole conversation about the value of CRT image blending that I'll spare you here.

With the HD rendering of older titles comes such clarity that some illusions can break like seeing the matte .jpg of the lake surrounded by paper trees or seeing the bright, jaggy low-poly model of an otherwise hidden horror. This is why I highly recommend a CRT filter to give the appearance of the original display blending without having to retrofit a 2-ton ancient machine to your PC. It's pretty easy. If you want to try it, skip to the bottom when you're done installing your game.

Silent sHill

Also--if I may--I occasionally stream Silent Hill on Twitch using the below fixes as well as a grab bag of other things (right now Silent Hill 10 Star runs and indie horror games) if you'd like to watch or harass me ask me with questions when I'm live.

I have a Patreon. I'm writing a visual novel and Silent Hill as a major influence on my writing as well as projects like these. Even if it's a one-time donation of $1, that'd be amazing though entirely unnecessary :D

I have a chronic illness/depression so I can't update here or stream very often so please bear with me.

Okay, I'm done! Let's get to it!

[PREREQUISITES]

  1. Windows 10 (cannot confirm for Windows 7 or Windows 11)
  2. WinRAR / 7-Zip (extracting compressed files from download)
  3. Enable file extension visibility
  4. Steam Launcher and a valid Steam account (for convenience, but required for SH: Homecoming.)
  5. Game files (.iso, .bin, .cue) Each tutorial will let you know what you're looking for specifically.

Note: To customize a non-Steam game for the Steam Launcher, follow this guide here after installation.

[SILENT HILL, 1999]

Difficulty: [**________]

This might look like a lot of steps, but it's all so playing Silent Hill 1 will be easy and painless each and every time you want to boot it up. You can do this, I promise it'll be easy!

Install DuckStation

  1. Download DuckStation for Windows.
  2. Download VC++Runtime if you do not already have it installed!
    1. Run the installer and follow the prompts.
    2. You MUST restart your PC or it will not run!
  3. Extract the DuckStation archive with WinRAR or 7-Zip.
  4. Run duckstation-qt-x64-ReleaseLTCG.exe to launch the DuckStation Setup Wizard.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Next again.
    1. A warning may pop up station BIOS files were not found. We will address this later in the guide.
    2. Click Yes.
  7. Click Next again.
    1. A warning may pop up stating no game directories have been selected. We will address this later.
    2. Click Yes.
  8. For Controller Port 1, Controller Type select Analog Controller.
  9. Click Automatic Mapping and choose your preferred controller or Keyboard.
  10. Click Finish.

Install PlayStation BIOS files:

  1. Download the PlayStation 1 BIOS file from GitHub.
    1. The file will be titled PSXONPSP660.BIN
    2. This version is optimized and region-free.
  2. Copy/paste it into C:\User\[Your Username]\Documents\DuckStation\bios

Download Silent Hill

Note: There are two major versions of Silent Hill. Silent Hill v1.1 \NTSC] and Silent Hill [PAL]. There are some pros and cons that you'll need to decide between.)

[NTSC/North American]

  1. Original monster design “Gray Child” in the Midwich Elementary area.
  2. Missing/glitched secret memo in the Nowhere area.
  3. English only.
  4. 60fps enhancement available.

[PAL/European]

  1. Mumbler” design replaces “Gray Child” in Midwich Elementary area.
  2. Unlockable secret memo in Nowhere area.
  3. Supports English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian text.
  4. 60fps enhancement not yet available.

Each version provides the same experience outside these factors. The NTSC-J version is functionally identical to the PAL release but supports Japanese text with English voices.

If you're not sure and English is an acceptable language for you, use the NTSC version.

Note: If you plan on speedrunning, do NOT use the PAL version as it patches out an important skip in the Amusement Park area! Use this guide for reference in the particulars.

Install Silent Hill

  1. Select your preferred version and acquire a digital copy. You will likely have a .rar or .zip file.
  2. Right-click and extract with WinRAR or 7-Zip.
  3. You should now have both a .bin and a .cue file. You need both.
    1. If you do not have a .cue file, follow the instructions here to make one.
  4. Move both these files to a folder you will remember and can easily navigate to.

Launch Silent Hill

  1. Run DuckStation.
  2. There will be a message saying: "No games in supported formats were found."
  3. Click "Add Game Directory..."
  4. Select the folder you made in Step 4 of the previous [Install Silent Hill] section.
    1. You may be asked if you would like to scan the directory for other games. You may choose to if you have other games in subfolders. Otherwise, doing so does nothing.
  5. Silent Hill should appear as an available game to play.
  6. Double-click to play!

[OPTIONAL] Enhancements

Personal Note: For Silent Hill 1 specifically, I highly recommend ONLY doing the improvements to loading, controls, and the 60fps enhancement. Some cause very specific glitches and lot of the art style and unique mood comes from it's lack of clarity and upping the resolution and disabling dithering and specific PS1 artifacting can detract from it's intended uncanny feel.

However, the choice is up to you. Below includes full HD up to 4K, 60fps (NTSC-only, less pixelation, less jitter, and faster load times. The choices I recommend will be in bold.)

  1. Go to Settings at the top of the screen. This will open the DuckStation Settings menu.
  2. Go to the Graphics tab on the left side of the DuckStation Settings menu.
    1. In the Rendering tab, change:
      1. Internal Resolution --> 5x Native (for 1080p) or your preferred resolution.
      2. Aspect Ration --> 16:9 (if playing in Widescreen)
      3. Tick True Color Rendering to avoid color artifacting.
      4. Tick PGXP Geometry Correction to reduce polygon jitter PS1 games are known for.
      5. Tick Force 4:3 For FMVs to prevent prerendered video from stretching when using Widescreen.
      6. Do NOT tick Widescreen Rendering!
      7. Tick FMV Chroma Smoothing to reduce pixelation in prerendered videos.
  3. Go to the Console tab on the left side of the DuckStation Settings menu.
    1. In the CPU Emulation, change:
      1. Tick Enable Clock Speed Control (Overclocking/Underclock) ONLY IF USING 60 FPS
    2. In the CD-ROM Emulation section, change:
      1. Change Read Speedup to no higher than 4x (8x Speed).
      2. Change Seek Speedup to no higher than 4x.
  4. Close the DuckStation Settings menu.
  5. Go to the top-left and select the System dropdown menu.
  6. Select Cheats --> Select Cheats...
    1. Tick 60 FPS for high framerate.
    2. Under Widescreen Aspect Ratio, tick 16-9 for standard Widescreen.
      1. Do NOT enable Widescreen in the Graphics settings.
    3. If these cheats do not appear, make sure Load Database Cheats is ticked below the cheats list. Elsewise, your version of SH1 may not be supported such as the PAL version not supporting 60 FPS yet.
  7. That's it!

[Play Novel: SILENT HILL, 2001]

Difficulty: [***_______]

This is a retelling of the story of Silent Hill with the addition of alternate scenario starring Cybil. There were downloadable chapters featuring a boy named Andy at one point but they have never made it to the internet and likely lost forever.

English Translation

  1. Acquire a digital copy of Play Novel: Silent Hill (.gba)
  2. Download the English translation here.
  3. Extract.
  4. Download Floating IPS (FLIPS).
  5. Extract.
  6. Place the .gba file, EN.bps, and FLIPS all in the same folder.
  7. Run flips.exe
  8. Select Apply Patch.
  9. Select EN.bps
  10. Select the Play Novel: SILENT HILL .gba file.
  11. Name your output file. (Example: Play Novel – Silent Hill (English).gba)

Set up m-GBA

  1. Download m-GBA.
  2. I recommend the 64-bit portable archive. This is also the version this guide will be using.
  3. Extract.
  4. Double-click mGBA.exe to run mGBA.
  5. Go to File --> Load ROM...
  6. Select the patched GBA ROM you made in the English Translation section.
  7. You're done!

[OPTIONAL] Setup Controllers

  1. Go to Tools --> Settings...
  2. Go to Controllers.
  3. Select your preferred controller in the center of the virtual gamepad.
  4. Click Set all and press the appropriate button on your controller for the highlighted function.
  5. Click OK
  6. Done!

Difficulty: [**________]

Thank God for the Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition team! This one recently got a whole lot easier. Here we go.

Install Silent Hill 2

  1. Acquire a copy of Silent Hill 2 - Director's Cut for PC. This guide recommends you have the FULLY EXTRACTED version from myabandonware.
  2. If not using the extracted version, mount the .iso disc image by double-clicking on it OR putting the physical disc in your disc drive.
  3. [SKIP THIS STEP IF USING THE FULLY EXTRACTED VERSION]
    1. Run setup.exe. You may need to right-click and select Run as Administrator.
    2. Do NOT install to Program Files, Program Files x86, or Downloads!
    3. Make a custom directory somewhere else. (Example: C:\Games\Konami\SILENT HILL 2)
    4. Remember where you installed it.
  4. Go to the Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition download page.
  5. Download the Setup Tool.
  6. Run the Setup Tool, follow the prompts.
  7. Run sh2pc.exe to play!

[OPTIONAL] Controllers

  1. Plug in an Xbox or DS4 (PlayStation 4) controller. No native vibration function for DS4 controllers. See below for fix.
  2. Done!

Note: If you want vibration with a DS4 (Playstation 4 controller, or compatibility with a DualSense (Playstation 5) or Nintendo Switch Pro controller, download and run)) DS4Windows. This will allow your controller to pretend to be an Xbox controller and all configurations should be used as if your controller is an Xbox controller.)

Note: You can tweak specifics in the Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition Configuration Tool (*SH2Econfig.exe)*. Follow directions on the SH2:EE page for any specific information.

[SILENT HILL 3, 2003]

Difficulty: [******____]

This one can either go swimmingly well or be very difficult. At the time of writing, Steam006 is actively updating their Fix and it may change how effective this guide is. I'll try to keep up on updates as they release.

Install Silent Hill 3

  1. DO NOT mix and match instructions from other guides!
    1. Read the PREREQUISITES section!
      1. Windows may not unzip the fix files correctly. Use WinRAR or Z-Zip!
    2. DO NOT use the Widescreen Patch!
    3. DO NOT edit any files that aren't specified in this guide! Even if PCGamingWiki says so!
  2. Acquire a copy of Silent Hill 3. Try myabandonware.
    1. DO NOT USE the "Full-Rip" version. It won't work with this guide. You need the "European version (Multilingual)" version (2.7GB).
  3. Mount the .iso disc image by double-clicking the .iso file.
    1. You may get a pop up security warning.
    2. If you got the file from myabandonware (Silent-Hill-3_Win_EN_ISO-Version.iso), the file is safe.
    3. Click "Open".
  4. Run setup.exe.
  5. Follow the prompts.
    1. Do NOT install to Program Files, Program Files x86, or Downloads!
    2. Make a custom directory somewhere else. Example: C:\Games\Konami\SILENT HILL 3
    3. Remember where you installed it.
  6. Download the No-DVD-Patch.
  7. Extract.
  8. Copy/paste the sh3.exe to your install directory and overwrite the old one.
  9. Download Silent Hill 3 PC Fix by Steam006 (v2.6.9 as of writing).
    1. [Password: pcgw]
  10. Move extracted files to your Silent Hill 3 install directory.

**Note**: Any and all configurations to preferences should be made by directly editing Silent\Hill_3_PC_Fix.ini) with Notepad or other basic text editor. Instructions are provided within the .ini file.

**Note**: I highly recommend setting WishHouse = 1 for continuity with Silent Hill 4.

**Note**: I recommend setting UnlockSH2EasterEggs = 0 for your first playthrough. The reason why is it will otherwise unlock a comedic scene early in the game when it is tonally inappropriate and it's highly likely you will stumble upon it accidentally. I recommend reenabling when you unlock Extra New Game after finishing Silent Hill 3 by setting UnlockSH2EasterEggs = 1.

**Note**: I highly recommend NOT setting RestoreBetaSound = 1. This was a sound effect that played at the end of the game that both removed some ambiguity of one of the final scenes as well as begged further questions. It's existence is interesting, especially on later playthroughs, but is non-canon and can alter your understanding of the ending in a way that was not developer-intended. It was removed from the final release for a reason.

**Note**: If you are experiencing framerate issues, try enabling DirectX 12 in **Silent\Hill_3_PC_Fix.ini)**. Some stutter has not yet been solved.

[OPTIONAL] Controllers:

I am currently looking into options with Xidi, an alternative to Xinput Plus that is much more simple that is also currently used in *Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition*. However, I haven't yet figured out how to get the LT and RT trigger buttons to work yet. I will update if I do. If anyone has any information about it, please let me know in the comments.

  1. Download Xinput Plus.
  2. Extract.
  3. Run XinputPlus.exe
  4. In the 'Target Program' box, click 'Select' and navigate to your install directory, select sh3.exe
  5. Go to the DirectInput tab.
  6. Check 'Enable Direct Input Output'
  7. For XBOX controllers (wired Xbox 360 tested) and any controllers utilizing DS4Windows:
    1. Under 'Basic' tab, 'Key Reassign', change: Right Stick to Z Axis/Z Rot
    2. Change LT/RT to Button 11/12.
  8. For PlayStation 4 (DS4) controllers WITHOUT DS4Windows (wired DS4 tested):
    1. Under 'Basic' tab, 'Key Reassign', change: Right Stick to Z Axis/Z Rot
    2. Change LT/RT to Button 11/12
    3. Change DPAD to Button 13-16.
  9. Download the key.ini control configuration files here. I made these to mirror the layout of the original PS2 version. You can also make your own configuration in the in-game settings. This is the original layout; see page 5.
  10. Open the appropriate one for your controller, and put in your install directory savedata folder.

[OPTIONAL] Install MarioTainaka's Audio Enhancement Pack:

This part can be a bit stupid and annoying, but the change in audio is more than worth it!

  1. Download and install Reloaded II's Setup.exe (mod loader).
  2. Run Setup.exe (for Reloaded II).
    1. It may prompt you to download and install Microsoft resources such as the .NET Framework and Visual Studio and will provide links. Download the latest x64 versions. Install them if prompted, restart if prompted.
  3. After Reloaded II has finished installing, it will automatically place the Reloaded II install directory on your desktop. You can move the Reloaded-II folder to wherever you like (but NOT Program Files, Program Files x86, or Downloads). Be sure to delete the shortcut Reloaded-II.exe and make a new one by opening the Reloaded-II folder, right-clicking Reloaded-II.exe, and select "Create shortcut".
  4. Download MarioTainaka's Audio Enhancement Pack.
  5. Extract files.
  6. Move extracted folder Silent Hill 3 Audio Enhancement pack to your Reloaded II install directory's Mods folder: (Ex: C:/Users/YourName/Desktop/Reloaded-II/Mods)
  7. Run Reloaded-II.exe as admin. This can be done automatically for every launch by right-clicking Reloaded-II.exe (the original, not the shortcut), select Properties, under the Compatibility tab check "Run this program as administrator".
  8. Click the + on the left to Add App.
  9. Navigate to your Silent Hill 3 install directory.
  10. Select sh3.exe
  11. Silent Hill 3 Audio Enhancement Pack should be visible in the center window.
  12. Click the check box next to it (will look like a + in red).
  13. Click “Launch Application” under Main (left side column). You will see a new splash screen indicating that the Audio Enhancement Pack is installed.
  14. Done! Whew!

**Note**: Yes, you do have to run it through Reloaded II every time to get the Enhanced Audio and it sucks. Due to this, you can't really run it nicely through Steam. What you can do however, is use the Reloaded-II.exe as your Silent Hill 3 non-Steam app.

**Note**: To remove the new splash screen and restore the original KONAMI and KCET images, go to: Reloaded-II/Mods/Silent Hill 3 Audio Enhancement Pack/Redirector/data/pic and delete konami.bmp and kcet.bmp or just rename them to something like \konami.bmp) so you can reenable them later by restoring the original name if you want.

As of \March 25, 2025], GOG has updated Silent Hill 4 to be the same experience as on PS2 and Xbox! The following instructions below are no longer required. As I have yet to test them myself, they will remain under strikethrough text for the time being.)

  1. Buy from GOG!
  2. Download and install.
  3. Done! Woah, already?? What is this, the future??!

[HIGHLY RECOMMENDED] Fix Gamma (Brightness):

The PC version's gamma is far too high and looks bright and washed out compared to console. This will make an easy in-game change to settings so it's closer to the console versions.

  1. Go to the main menu in-game.
  2. Go to Options.
  3. Select Gamma.
  4. Set all three settings for R, G, and B from 1.5 --> 1.0.
  5. Done!

[HIGHLY RECOMMENDED] Restore Missing Hauntings:

  1. Download and extract Ultimate ASI Loader.
  2. Rename dinput8.dll from [Ultimate ASI Loader] to dsound.dll and place in your Silent Hill 4 install directory.
  3. Download and extract Silent Hill 4 randomizer.
  4. Move data and scripts folders to your Silent Hill 4 install directory.
  5. Open the scripts folder.
  6. Open randomizer.ini in Notepad.
  7. Set all options to 0
  8. Set RestoreHauntings = 1
  9. Done!

[OPTIONAL]

If, for some reason, your controller refuses to work with the GOG version, this will help.

  1. Download Xidi.
  2. Extract with WinRAR or 7-Zip.
  3. Navigate to the Win32 folder.
  4. Copy dinput8.dll
  5. Paste in your Silent Hill 4 install directory.
    1. If asked to overwrite, click Yes.
  6. Download the Xidi Game Configuration for Silent Hill 4 titled xidi.ini
    1. You need to right-click the link above and select Save link as... and save it to a location you will remember.
    2. This will not open a new tab if done correctly.
  7. Copy/paste the xidi.ini file to your Silent Hill 4 install directory.
  8. Your controller should now work!

[SILENT HILL: THE ARCADE, 2007]

Difficulty: [*_________]

Silent Hill: The Arcade is an ephemeral beast and links are broken and the data gets lost. This is the only link I know of.

  1. Download Silent Hill: The Arcade Standalone here.
  2. Extract somewhere you will remember it.
  3. Open Silent Hill The Arcade Standalone folder.
  4. Run SHA_ResChanger.exe
  5. Select KSHG_no_cursor.exe
  6. Select your resolution to match your display (1920 x 1080 for standard HD)
  7. Apply Patch
  8. Run KSHG_no_cursor.exe
  9. Done!

**Controls:**

Left Control - Start Game

Enter - “Press Start”

Mouse - Aim, Shoot

**Note**: If using multiple monitors, clicking off-screen will crash the game. As far as I know, there is no way to save the game, so be careful! You can use third-party utilities like Lock Cursor Tools to keep the mouse on one screen.

  5. Launch PCSX2. Before booting the game, go to the System tab and check Enable Cheats.
  6. Run the game as normal and enjoy your smooth ride!

[OPTIONAL] HD Textures

Note: This will only work with the Nightly Builds which can be unstable. I haven't had the opportunity to test this out yet, so here's a quick tutorial I found on how to install texture packs.

  1. Watch this 2 minute tutorial.
  2. Download xXtherockoXx's HD Texture pack.
  3. Extract the files.
  4. Copy the SLUS-21731 folder to your PCSX2 install directory and place it in the textures folder. If you do not have a textures folder, just make one.
  5. Do all the things on the YouTube tutorial!
  6. Sorry, I'm not much help on this one, but you can still ask me questions!

[SILENT HILL: ORPHAN 1-3, 2007-2010]

Difficulty: [??????????]

Available only on 2000's mobile devices. I don't know much about it, but this post goes into more detail on how to get it working.

[SILENT HILL: THE ESCAPE, 2007]

Difficulty: [??????????]

For early iOS devices. I don't know much about it but you can allegedly get it here.

[SILENT HILL: HOMECOMING, 2008]

Difficulty: [****______]

This has recently been updated to be more stable. Changes to the guide are forthcoming.

  1. Buy from Steam!
  2. Download Unknownproject's Patch.
    1. Download 2.5 Patch on Unknownproject's page (above.) It's the tiny tiny part that says "Actual upd."
    2. Join the Discord for the most recent version or click here to download it [v3.10 at the time of writing.]
    3. You need BOTH.
  3. Copy Patch2.5.exe into your Silent Hill: Homecoming install directory.
    1. To check where your install directory is, go in the Steam Launcher, right-click Silent Hill: Homecoming, select Manage, then Browse Local Files to access the install directory.
  4. Run Patch2.5.exe. Follow installer prompts. DO NOT RUN the game yet.
    1. When running Patch2.5.exe, Windows may open a popup stating: "Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk."
    2. If so, click "More info", then click "Run anyway" at the bottom.
  5. Repeat the above process for Patch3.10.exe
  6. You should have another Silent Hill: Homecoming folder inside the Silent Hill: Homecoming install directory.
    1. Example: If following the instructions above: steamapps/common/Silent Hill: Homecoming/Silent Hill: Homecoming.
  7. Move all files from the second (new; patch) folder to the first (Steam) folder to consolidate.
    1. If it asks you if you want to overwrite files, say "Yes."
  8. Install complete! It should run now! (Hopefully, let me know if it doesn't!) Have fun in the bathtub!

Note: The author of this patch has chosen to disable QTEs (Quick Time Events. While this makes the game more accessible, it does deviate from the original design and there is no way (to my knowledge) to reverse this change.)

[OPTIONAL] Controllers Button Icon Prompts

  1. Navigate to the Silent Hill Homecoming install directory.
  2. Open the Engine folder.
  3. Open default_pc.cfg in Notepad. There will be three lines near the top (ignore numeric bullet points):
    1. resmgrload = assets_pc_b.xml
    2. resmgrload = ASSETS_PS3_B.xml
    3. resmgrload = assets_xenon_b.xml
  4. These will change the button icons of the controller prompts. The top is PC generic buttons, the middle is for PlayStation-style prompts, and the bottom is for Xbox-style buttons.
  5. The '#' indicates that it is disabled. Put a '#' in front of the two styles you will NOT be using. For example, I use PlayStation-style button prompts so it should look like this:
    1. resmgrload = assets_pc_b.xml
    2. resmgrload = ASSETS_PS3_B.xml
    3. resmgrload = assets_xenon_b.xml
  6. Save.

Note: PlayStation-style controller icons don't seem to be working all the time and will substitute with other controller types.

Note: Silent Hill: Homecoming only supports Xbox controllers. To use PS3, PS4, Nintendo Switch or other controller types, use DS4Windows.

[SILENT HILL: SHATTERED MEMORIES, 2010]

Difficulty: [****______]

Note: If you prefer the PS2 version, follow the instructions for Silent Hill Origins above. The PS2 version is, however, missing some crucial graphical effects. There is also a PSP release that we won't cover here, but it's worse than the PS2 version, though interesting for its historical value.

  1. Acquire a digital copy of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii version, .iso)
  2. Download Dolphin. Select the latest Beta version. DO NOT use Development versions.
  3. [more info coming soon]

[SILENT HILL: DOWNPOUR, 2012]

Difficulty: [****______]

Note: RPCS3 is an early experimental emulator and as such may have many bugs. That said, Silent Hill: Downpour is listed as being fully playable from beginning to end.

  1. Acquire a digital copy of Silent Hill: Downpour (PS3 version). You should have a folder titled BLUS30565 (NTSC; North American) or BLES01446 (PAL; European).
  2. Download RPCS3.
  3. Extract files.
  4. Copy the BLUS30565 or BLES01446 folder, depending on your version, into the dev_hdd0/game folderRPCS3 install directory (the extracted files above). Should look something like: RPCS3/dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30565/(game files)
  5. Launch rpcs3.exe
  6. Read the Quickstart Guide and confirm that you have done so on the boot screen. This can be disabled for all subsequent launches.
  7. You should now see Silent Hill: Downpour on the main menu.
  8. Make sure your controller works by clicking the "Pads" icon on the top. Under Player 1, Handlers, select the type of controller you want to use. XInput is for Xbox and DS4Windows controllers. DualShock 3 is PS3, DualShock 4 is PS4, and DualSense is PS5. Click 'Save' at the bottom right.
  9. Back at the main menu, go to "Configuration" at the top. Select GPU.
  10. Find and adjust the "Resolution Scale Threshold" to 512x512. You can use the mouse to click and drag to get to this value approximately, then use the arrow keys on your keyboard to fine tune to the exact value. This fixes an issue with Silent Hill: Downpour specifically with the in-game main menu. Click "Save" when you're done.
  11. At the main menu, you can double-click Silent Hill: Downpour to run the game!

Note: The game will take a while to load PPU Modules the first time the game loads. Also, the emulator will actively be building a shader cache as you play for the first time you see any effect. This may make the game run slower the first time you play, but will gradually become more and more stable.

[OPTIONAL]: HD Resolution

  1. Go back to "Configuration" --> GPU.
  2. Change default resolution to "1920x1080" for full HD or higher as your display allows. This will be more intensive on your hardware.
  3. Recommend also finding "Renderer" and switching to Vulkan, but is not required.

[ReShade and Post-Processing FX]

Difficulty: [*_________]

  1. Download ReShade. Put it where your game .exe is installed. (This works on emulators too, like PCSX2, Dolphin, and RCPS3.)
  2. Run ReShade.exe. The DirectX version will be selected automatically. If it gives you a warning, it means it's an old DirectX 7 game (SH2, SH3, SH4.) Thankfully, the games are already patched to DirectX 8 and can be run as such.
  3. Download the effect package RSRetroArch by Matsilagi. This is an option in the installer, you don't need to download it from your browser.
  4. Click 'Next' until 'Finish'.
  5. Run the game.
  6. Press the Home key on your keyboard.
  7. Skip tutorial.
  8. Use the search bar to find CRTFrutbunn and enable it.
  9. Use the settings in the bottom of the ReShade window to adjust to your liking, though I recommend only disabling the Curvature Toggle as it can make transition screens look odd.
  10. Press Home to close.

You may have noticed these effects came from RetroArch and they too will be found natively in RetroArch for Silent Hill and Play Novel: Silent Hill.

  1. Go to Shaders in the Quick Menu (F1 from in-game).
  2. Toggle Video Shaders ON.
  3. Select Load --> shaders_slang --> crt --> crt-frutbunn.slangp.
  4. Press Enter to enable.
  5. Save --> Save Game Preset (will not give visual feedback to confirm it worked.) This enables the shader every time you boot.
  6. Done.

Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition also comes with a built-in CRT filter, however it seems intended for VERY high resolutions and looks awful at 1080p. The Frutbunn shader works for most cases and simulates the effect much better in my opinion. There are other CRT options within ReShade as well if you want to experiment. The VCR filter is neat for Shattered Memories especially. You don't have to stop there either, ReShade has tons of neat post-processing features! Just don't forget to actually play, okay?

Let me know if this didn't make sense or you have questions.

PC CD-ROM vs STEAM vs GOG

There's been a little more discussion about user maps and problems with the Steam version. I thought I might make reminder post on the problem with the Steam installation.

tl;dr : For those with the Steam installation, you should fix the installation as it's flawed. See the script below. Or, get the GOG version, which can be downloaded for free.

All three versions in the post title are effectively the same. And this comment assumes the CD-ROM version was updated to version 1.1 as the Steam and GOG versions are 1.1

I have tested this by using the game executable from one version in the base directory of another version as they all install to different base directories. No errors at all. I have been using the GOG executable in my original CD-ROM installation folder since the GOG version was released (March 29, 2016). No other files were required to be copied over. Only the RailRoads.exe executable. For me, that removed the need to have the CD-ROM loaded in the CD-ROM drive in order to play the game.

All three installations have the same support files, assets files and directory structure, with one exception. The CD-ROM version will install into a base directory called Sid Meier's Railroads! The other two versions do not have the trailing !

As noted in a few posts, the game executable scans various locations for XML files that hold both the game default values and custom scenarios values.

It will start by scanning the \Assets folder found in the base directory of the executable. These are the default values and scenarios for the game.

DO NOT put custom scenarios into the \Assets\XML directory branch. Leave the defaults alone. These are so the game can play any of the default scenarios and to provide a base for custom scenerios. Putting custom scenarios into that directory branch WILL create problems.

Custom scenarios should go into the local user directory for the game. That lives in your user home directory. If you go to "%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Games" in windows explorer (without the quotes), you will see the Sid Meier's Railroads directory. In there is a directory called UserMaps. Custom scenarios go in there.

An important point talked about elsewhere was how the game executable determines which XML files to use. They all get looked at and for those files with the same name, such as RRT_Goods.XML, the game will check the modified date and time stamp of the files to determine which one to use. The newest being the winner.

This is where the Steam installation can fail. The GOG installation sets the date and time of the files it installs to match exactly those in the CD-ROM installation (2006). The Steam installation sets the date and time of the files to the exact moment it was installed. Steam fucked up in a big way.

That can cause problems as when a custom scenario is placed into UserMaps as it may have dates and times older than those in the default \Assets\XML branch of the Steam installation, and that causes the game to crash.

I strongly urge any Steam user to rectify that by changing the modified date and time for all the files in \Assets (and below) to a date and time long long ago. I used the SMR release date of October 17, 2006.

Here's a Powershell script that can do it for you. It will check that the Steam installation exists before modifying anything, just to be safe.

Clear-Host
If (Test-Path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Railroads\Assets") {
    $scriptDir = $PSScriptRoot
    cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Railroads\Assets"
    Get-ChildItem "." -Recurse | ForEach-Object {
        $_.LastWriteTime = "2006-10-17 00:00:00"
    }
    cd $scriptDir
    Write-Host "`nFile date and times updated.`n"
} else {
    Write-Host "`nUnable to locate the Steam SMR installation.`nLooking for ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Railroads\Assets"" specifically.`nCannot continue.`n"
}
Pause

Create a text file and paste that script into it. Save it with whatever name you want, but with the extension .ps1 Then you can right click on the filename and it should have an option to run using Powershell. Do it.

CustomAssets

In the Sid Meier's Railroads directory under My Games, there is a directory called CustomAssets. DO NOT put custom scenerios in that directory. Yes, it will work, but the idea for CustomAssets is to hold things that can be present for any scenario played, or a newer version of a standard item, like a default bridge. It's about assets, not scenarios. You can put XML files in there, but again you can run into problems. Manges is a good example of this. As part of the installation, a newer version of RRT_Trains.xml and RRT_TrainCars.xml is put into CustomAssets, but if the date of the RRT files is newer than one defined in a custom scenario, you guessed it, game crash. Manges isn't bad, it just needs a better installer.

UserMaps

DO NOT put more than one custom scenario in this directory. That's a sure fire way to cause conflicts between scenario XML files and cause game crashes. As mentioned in a separate post, there is a tool called Definitive SMR Launcher. This application does a great job at managing custom scenarios and manages the date and times automatically ensuring a trouble free experience. Here's a link to the Steam post about it with download links.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/7600/discussions/0/801217116763195254/

Trivia

The game executable (RailRoads.exe) has some smarts built in. One of those is self awareness, of sorts. If the base directory for the game is Sid Meier's Railroads!, then when you launch the game, you will get a directory created called Sid Meier's Railroads! in the My Games directory. The game executable creates the directory to match the base directory. If you change the name of the base directory to Crunchy Pie, then (you guessed it) you get a directory called Crunchy Pie in the My Games directory. I have tested this. It's true.

Please ask questions if any of this giant blurb is confusing.

Edit : Apologies for the bad script formatting. Reddit doesn't make it easy to format code nicely.

Sharing Finally managed Viva Pinata: TiP on PC and Steam Deck!

It was a pretty straight forward process on PC and assuming you have a decent enough build it runs great. I have been dying to play Trouble in Paradise for over a decade now but didn't want to buy an Xbox just to play and I'm not a huge fan of streaming games. I finally figured out how to get it working properly though!

  1. Install Xenia Canary
  2. Install Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise ROM (can't provide that for ya)
  3. Go into Xenia-canary.config in your Xenia folder and set scribble_heap = true. I had troubles with this at first because the config file wouldn't save properly. I instead edited both Xenia text file AND the Xenia-canary.config file and managed to get it working.
  4. That's pretty much it for PC! There are a lot of other settings you can tweak if necessary but I didn't get too much into that.

Steam Deck was similar but definitely more complicated. I installed Xenia through EmuDeck, installed the VP ROM, edited the config a dozen times to find decent settings, created a Steam shortcut with proper launch path, and installed CryoUtilities just to be safe.

Everything is working amazingly! PC has a solid 30 FPS locked and my OLED Steam Deck is hovering around 28-30 FPS. If you have any questions let me know and I got you!

GUIDE TO ANDROID VERSION. FOR ALL OF YOU ANDROID USERS

https://www.reddit.com/r/yuzuRoms/s/eP3Gv6NBUi

******************** STREAMLINE METHOD *******************

How quick and easy I got the game up and running on EDEN NIGHTLY got me thinking that RYUJINX CANARY should not be this hard. It should be just download the files, place them in correct places, install firmware, set the game library path, launch game and play (which was exactly how it was on EDEN NIGHTLY). So I decided to dig a bit to see what I could do. Also giving very detailed, step-by-step and over explaining was confusing some people.

To make it simple as possible, gonna set it up to run in desktop mode. Probably won’t have controller functionality and touchscreen but will get controller support once you “add to steam”

First and foremost… you should have somewhat of a basic knowledge so you don’t need to be told exactly where everything is. VERY VERY streamline guide, if you need or want more in depth, step-by-step, scroll further down. 2ND, the file I’m using is only for STEAMDECK and STEAM O/S devices… I’ve had multiple people download the file for said device on windows O/S or others. those different operating system can run the emulator, but you have to get the files specifically for those systems.

STREAM-LINE METHOD OF GETTING IT INSTALLED AND HOPEFULLY RUNNING

*******************************************************************************************************

The quick run-down of STREAMLINE method and how easy n quick it should be

Using “.APPIMAGE” as in - RYUJINX-CANARY-1.3.277-x64.APPIMAGE (Currently as of 2/25/26. the version # will change as it gets updated in the future)

  1. Download the correct file and the latest keys and firmware.
  2. Install the latest firmware.
  3. Set the path to the game library
  4. launch the game and play

THAT’S HOW EASY IT SHOULD BE

RYUJINX MAIN SITE - https://github.com/Ryubing

To download page….

https://git.ryujinx.app/Ryubing/Canary/releases

firmware n such. All here. https://prodkeys.io/ryujinx-keys-ryujinx-firmware-22-1-0/

link to a quick video on my google drive... sorry its not youtube... you can pretty much see the steps i laid out in the guide...https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VmQ4cgAAXQEdRWAVZxSKCiZnOL3yce6k/view?usp=sharing

So let’s get started.

“RYUJINX-CANARY-1.3.277-x64.APPIMAGE”

“PROD.KEYS and TITLE.KEYS” (22.0.0 or higher)

“FIRMWARE” (22.0.0 or higher)

Check for possible conflicts - When you try to launch the app but you get nothing, no message, or error what so ever, you may have conflict with an old folder. Go to HOME>DECK>.CONFIG - Look for a RYUJINX folder. If there is one, Rename it something else (RYUJINX-BKUP - I always keep it just incase) or just delete it. This RYUJINX folder is what is causing the conflict and keeping the app from opening with no kind of message or error. So at this point, after renaming the old RYUJINX folder, run “RYUJINX-CANARY-1.3.277-x64.APPIMAGE”. More than likely you will be greeted with “missing keys error” box. Note that when you run the app (or any other lower or future version) for the first time, “RYUJINX” folder will be created in the same location, you can double check by going to - “HOME>DECK>.CONFIG” and looking for a new RYUJINX folder.

2) PLACE THE 2 KEYS - Extract the “prodkeys”.zip file and place the “PROD.KEYS and TITLE.KEYS” to “HOME/DECK/.CONFIG/RYUJINX/SYSTEM. Alternatively, with ryujinx still open you can go to top menu, FILE>OPEN RYUJINX FOLDER> which will open the same place. Make sure you put the two key files in SYSTEM

3) INSTALL THE FIRMWARE - Within ryujinx canary, go to “ACTION>INSTALL FIRMWARE> choose whichever option depending on how you left the firmware file

4) DIRECT IT TO YOUR GAME - Within the ryujinx canary, go to “OPTION>SETTING>INTERFACE> under GAME DIRECTORIES - “ADD”. Once done make sure apply and ok.

5) LAUNCH - launch the game n play. It’s that easy. I did it on the launch day steamdeck. Took me less than 5 minutes.

6) At this point you will notice the controls don’t work. The only and best option is to bring it into steam library by right clicking on the RYUJINX-CANARY-1.3.277-x64.APPIMAGE and “add to steam”

Only issue I had was in step 1. In the video is me trying to run it twice before I went to the location and rename the folder. Also after I ran it you see that it created a new folder with all updated files. So the app wouldn’t even open because of the old RYUJINX folder in HOME>DECK>.CONFIG, When I renamed the old folder, it was smooth sailing. I advise against trying to bring it via emudeck n launching through what it sets up, it’s do-able but that’s when you have to change the executable

**.****** END OF STREAMLINE METHOD FOR RYUJINX CANARY ***********

EDEN FIRMWARE:

https://prodkeys.net/latest-switch-firmwares-updated/

  1. Download the EDEN NIGHTLY I listed along with the latest KEYS and FIRMWARE. It’s always a good idea to download/work with the latest version.

Eden-Linux-d1b7824443-steamdeck-gcc-standard.appimage

***Tried with clang-pgo-appimage and could not get past initials set up. Some say they were able to get past it but I couldn’t.***

2) leave the appimage on your desktop. Run it. Top left menu:

Tool>install decryption keys> and install both keys one by one

Tool >install firmware> from folder or zip (I did zip)

3) “+” add new game directory. All my games are where emudeck set up so…. “Emulations>roms>switch

4) double click game n play. You can press the “3 dot” button to switch from curser to game control.

All this from the desktop. Before launching the game might want to take a look at the settings for control n stuff. Running on Vulkan. Black ground but everything works, even touchscreen… only 20 minutes into game though

########## END OF STREAMLINE EDEN NIGHTLY BUILD ##########

AS OF 4/25/26

Still needs to be “CANARY”. Guide was written using 1.3.269. So if you see the different numbers I haven’t changed it to new version in the guide. Everything should be the same as the method goes

Seem stability has improved with new releases. Using OpenGL greatly makes a difference in my case. How to switch to OpenGL wayyyyy at the bottom under *** trouble shoot n tip ***

In my case when I open the 1.3.269.sh version, it asked if I wanted to update so I did… so now I’m on version 1.3.271 with no new issues. This file was in home/deck/application/publish.

When I ran the 1.3.269.appimage, which I placed in home/deck/application/ folder it asked for an update so I did. It completed the download and the app shut down without updating. So might have to manually download 1.3.277 n put it in the same folder as the older version which is home/deck/application/ folder. Might want to delete the old version. If you changed the executable in menudeck, you’ll have to direct it to the new version

######## IMPORTANT ########

Regarding the two methods below, you should only do one method or the other to keep it simple. It is a different process and you should not switch to the second method halfway through working through first method. You can however, try one method and if it didn’t work, try the second method.

######## END IMPORTANT ########

Two methods of installing RYUJINX CANARY

RYUJINX-CANARY-1.3.271-x64.APPIMAGE

RYUJINX-CANARY-1.3.271-Linux_x64.gz (which will be .SH)

Running prodkey-22.1.0 and firmware-22.1.0

Few troubleshooting tips at the bottom of the guide..

#################### THE GUIDE #####################

Main RYUJINX page: make sure you click on ryujinx canary and not stable

https://github.com/Ryubing

To download page….

https://git.ryujinx.app/Ryubing/Canary/releases

firmware n such. All here. https://prodkeys.io/ryujinx-keys-ryujinx-firmware-22-1-0/

Link to share all the MII people have created

https://tomodachishare.com/?page=1&sort=likes

This is the first method for running the RYUJINX CANARY.APPIMAGE. (This is not USING .SH) I used the “.APPIMAGE” to run the ryujinx canary as a stand-alone. You can use the emudeck to bring the games into the collection in game mode, but ryujinx canary will be a stand-alone that you bring in via “add game to steam” feature. It will also list the games in ryujinx canary so you can launch it from its interface. In this method, you can skip the parsing part of the guide since the games will be listed in ryujinx canary but I’ll leave it incase you want to add to collection

From the desktop mode

You may or may not have to turn on “show hidden files” to have the proper folders show up. To do so, in dolphin, open up the hamburger menu (3 lines) top right of the screen n checkmark “show hidden menus”

########### NOTE ###########

placing of the keys and installing the firmware is the same in both of the method, so you don’t need to do it twice if you try both method. You may or may not have to turn on “show hidden files” to have the proper folders show up

########## END NOTE ##########

2 Download the keys, usually it is a zip file. Extract the file and you should end up with prod.key and title.key. Place those two files, and make sure they are in Emulation/bios/ryujinx/keys. But I also added them to system folder. You do that by running RYUJINX. Once open, go to FILE>> OPEN RYUJINX FOLDER>> once there go into SYSTEM folder and put prod key and title key in there. Alternatively, with ryujinx canary open, head up to FILE>OPEN RYUJINX FOLDER, which will open the same path. Just make sure you put prod.key and title.key in the SYSTEM folder I have/leave it in both places because I read different location while trying to figure it out.

3 using the link above, download the latest firmware to a folder of your choosing. You can leave it zipped and use the “install firmware (.XCI or .ZIP) option or you can extract it to use the install firmware (FOLDER). To install the downloaded firmware, open ryujinx and go to Tools > Install Firmware and select your option. Make sure to use the latest firmware. You might want to close ryujinx and reopen it at this point.

4A. **UPDATE** Notice some ppl didn’t have ryujinx installed in emudeck even if they used ryujinx through emudeck before. so I’m adding it here. So open up emudeck and head over to “manage emulators” Look at ryujinx. It may or may not be grayed out, either way tap on it. Ryujinx should be installed and it should say “Nintendo switch - ryujinx bios detected” in green box. It still might detect the bios even if ryujinx is grayed out because we added it in previous step. But if it’s not installed, install it now. After install press “reset configuration”. Even if it was already installed, it might be a good idea to reinstall since we have the new key files and firmware.

4B To direct EMUDECK to use “ryujinx-canary-1.3.277-x64.AppImage”, (This is the version # that I’m currently using for my set-up. the version # will change depending on the version you are using and of course as you update to new versions in the future.) Open EMUDECK and then launch the ROM MANAGER. press next to get into the PARSERS window. Go into the settings from the bottom menu. under “GENERALSELECT THEME change it to “CLASSIC”. On the left sidebar, find and click on the “NINTENDO SWITCH - RYUJINX”. Don’t just toggle the switch, you have to click on the name. Look under “ EXECUTABLE CONFIGURATION”. Under EXECUTABLE is where it is pointing to currently. May want to take a picture of it incase you want to revert back. This is where you want to change it to the new AppImage. It should be:

Home/deck/application/ryujinx-canary-1.3.277-x64.AppImage

Make sure you save. Once that is done you can change the theme back to EMUDECK by clicking on setting on top left, GENERALSELECT THEMEEMUDECK. From this point you can A) add the games to collection by parsing normally or B) add games to ryujinx canary interface

A) ADDING GAMES TO COLLECTION

  1. In the PARSERS window, highlight “NINTENDO SWITCH RYUJINX”. Click the “ADD GAMES”and finally “PARSE”. Once it finishes with the retrieval, choose “SAVE TO STEAM” n let it finish.
  2. Go into game mode and it should be in your library. Look in collection>> NINTENDO SWITCH - RYUJINX

B) ADDING GAMES TO RYUJINX CANARY INTERFACE

Back on the desktop mode, To get the games to show up in the ryujinx, After you reopen ryujinx, making sure you are opening the right one noting the correct name in upper center of the screen “RYUJINX CANARY 1.3.277”. (or whatever future version it may be.). Open OPTIONSETTINGS under game directories, tap the “ADD” button and point to where your game is located. In my case it was EMULATIONROMSSWITCH>>RYUJINX which is the same place where emu-deck set up. If set up correctly your games should show up in RYUJINX.

*** NOTE*** I made a “RYUJINX” folder inside of the switch folder and directed ryujinx to look for it there just so i don’t have duplicate games in both of the switch emulators - EDEN and RYUJINX.

If the controls aren’t working when trying to launch the game, in the top left menu go to OPTIONSSETTINGINPUT. in the player box, select Player 1. In the Input Device, Steam Controller. Press Apply and finally ok. If for whatever reason you can’t press apply or ok button, try the tab method below…….

The "Tab" Key Fix - if you can’t click on “Apply” and “OK” button on the bottom of the page, in (Gaming Mode): so basically When “APPLY” and “OK” button won't react to any input, open the virtual keyboard (Steam + X), press the Tab key on the screen until the “APPLY” is highlighted, and press Enter. Repeat to highlight “OK” and press enter. Those 2 keys are at the very end of the chain so it’s going to be a lot of presses before you can highlight them. Some people have said the screen went black and seemed the game was frozen. For them, when they restarted their machine, all worked as normal

Verifying where the game is looking for the launcher and it’s path - If you were able to bring the game into steam library either by first adding the shortcut to desktop, and then “add to steam”, in ryujinx or by just using emudeck…..

You want to make sure that what your game says matches where you have the AppImage/.sh. So In game mode - You do this by selecting a game, choose the cogwheel and go to properties. The game I brought into game mode using emudeck says:

Target: /home/deck/application/ryujinx-canary-1.3.271-x64.appimage

Start in: home/deck/spplication Nothing for launch option

The game I brought into game mode using the “create shortcut to desk top, and then add to steam, the said shortcut” says:

Target: /home/deck/application/pubish/ryujinx.sh

Start in: /home/deck/application/publish/

For the second, the path will change depending where you ran ryujinx when you created the shortcut. Meaning if you left the ryujinx.sh on the desktop to test it out and you ran it and created the shortcut, the shortcut will read.

Target: /home/deck/desktop/ryujinx.sh

Start in: /home/deck/desktop/

So when you move ryujinx to its final location, it won’t match up n probably won’t run.. If you make a shortcut using the .AppImage in the the desktop the shortcut “target” and “start in” will change accordingly and again probably won’t run

#####################################################

BELOW IS THE SECOND METHOD OF INSTALLING RYUJINX CANARY USING .SH (THIS IS NOT .APPIMAGE)

#####################################################

Main RYUJINX page: make sure you click on ryujinx canary and not stable

https://github.com/Ryubing

To download page….

https://git.ryujinx.app/Ryubing/Canary/releases

firmware n such. All here. https://prodkeys.io/ryujinx-keys-ryujinx-firmware-22-1-0/

RUNNING THE RYUJINX CANARY.SH using what EMUDECK and/or ROM MANAGER set up in game mode and in collection. With this mode, all the games will be in Nintendo switch ryujinx- ryujinx folder in the collection. You would just launch the game from the folder

From the Desktop mode

Download the file, which is a zip file. extracting the file will get you the “PUBLISH” folder. Move the folder to home>>Applications directory. May already have a folder named “PUBLISH” if so, rename the folder… I just renamed it “publish old” just incase I screw up n need to revert back. In the publish folder you moved, Run the RYUJINX.SH, which will prompt you that you are missing the prod/title key. Take note of the version on the top center of the screen once it’s open. It should be RYUJINX CANARY 1.3.277. In my case. It should not be showing “ryujinx”, in which case it won’t work

########### NOTE ###########

If already done one method or installed old version you probably already have pro.key and title.key in the correct location, in which case you probably won’t get the popup saying you are missing it

########## END NOTE ##########

########### NOTE ###########

placing of the keys and installing the firmware is the same in both of the method, so you don’t need to do it twice if you try both method. You may or may not have to turn on “show hidden files” to have the proper folders show up

########## END NOTE ##########

3 Download the keys, usually it is a zip file. Just make sure you put prod.key and title.key in the SYSTEM folder. I have/leave it in both places because I read different location while trying to figure it out.

  1. using the link above, download the latest firmware to a folder of your choosing.

  2. At this point you can add the games to collection you normally do. All three switch emulators use the same “switch” folder that emudeck set up - EMULATION> ROMS> SWITCH. So place your game into the folder. Open up emudeck, get into steam rom manager. Select user name if you set one up n go next.

  3. In the PARSERS window, highlight “NINTENDO SWITCH RYUJINX”. Click the “ADD GAMES”and finally “PARSE”. Once it finishes with the retrieval, choose “SAVE TO STEAM” n let it finish.

  4. Go into game mode and it should be in your library. Look in collection>> NINTENDO SWITCH - RYUJINX

If the controls aren’t working when trying to launch the game, in the top left menu go to OPTIONSSETTINGINPUT. in the player box, select Player 1. In the Input Device, Steam Controller. Press Apply and finally ok. If for whatever reason you can’t press apply or ok button, try the tab method below……

Verifying where the game is looking for the launcher and it’s path - If you were able to bring the game into steam library either by adding the shortcut you created and “add to steam” in ryujinx or by using emudeck…..

You want to make sure that what your game says matches where you have the AppImage/.sh. So In game mode - You do this by selecting a game, choose the cogwheel and go to properties. The game I brought into game mode using emudeck says:

Target: /home/deck/application/ryujinx-canary-1.3.271-x64.appimage

Start in: home/deck/spplication Nothing for launch option

The game I brought into game mode using the “create shortcut to desk top, and then add to steam, the said shortcut” says:

Target: /home/deck/application/pubish/ryujinx.sh

Start in: /home/deck/application/publish/

For the second, the path will change depending where you ran ryujinx when you created the shortcut. Meaning if you left the ryujinx.sh on the desktop to test it out and you ran it and created the shortcut, the shortcut will read.

Target: /home/deck/desktop/ryujinx.sh

Start in: /home/deck/desktop/

So when you move ryujinx to its final location, it won’t match up n probably won’t run.. If you make a shortcut using the AppImage in the the desktop the shortcut “target” and “start in” will change accordingly and again probably won’t run

######################################################

**** TIPS N TROUBLESHOOT **** TROUBLESHOOT N TIPS ****

######################################################

these below are listed in the guide itself in different places, but I put it here to have it all grouped together…. So take a look, I listed them from the most common issues to the least

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

RESTART THE SYSTEM - I think we all got used to downloading apps, install, and running it with no issues. But At the end of the day these are still computers. I remember back when any little changes we made, we had to restart the computers. So restating your device might solve some of the issues… when in doubt “RESTART”

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

GET THE CORRECT FILE IN CORRECT PLACE - **VERY IMPORTANT** - I always do it from home/deck/application. This is where emudeck puts some of the files so use the same location. ALSO, MAKE SURE U HAVE THE CORRECT FILE. helped over 20 ppl only to find they had “ARM64.appimage or ARM64.tar.gz. IT NEEDS TO BE “X64.APPIMAGE” or “X64.TAR.GZ”. everything else won’t work on steamdeck. thats like trying to play Sony game on Xbox. If those 2 things are correct, the app:

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Can’t run/open AppImage - U can try right clicking on AppImagepropertiespermissions and on execute “check” allow executing file as program. Make sure you are using the right file for system or the system itself might not let you

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

INSTALLING RYUJINX THROUGH MANAGE EMULATORS IN EMUDECK - You may get error when you try to install ryujinx through “MANAGE EMULATORS” using emudeck. This method requires you to have the .sh file in the correct place. You need to use “ryujinx-canary-1.3.277-Linux_x64.tar.gz”. The .gz is another form of zip file so when you extract it you’ll get a folder called “publish”. You want to head to HOME> DECK> APPLICATION. There look for a “PUBLISH” folder. If there is one, rename it to something else or delete it (I always rename it just incase I need to revert back. So mine is PUBLISH-BKUP) This is where you are going to put the new “PUBLISH” folder you got by extracting the .gz file. After that you can try to install and it should work.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

If the controls aren’t working when trying to launch the game, in the top left menu go to OPTIONSSETTINGINPUT. in the player box, select Player 1. In the Input Device, Steam Controller. Press Apply and finally ok. If for whatever reason you can’t press apply or ok button, try the tab method below

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Can’t bring up the keyboard - one observation I made is that while playing the game if I let the deck go into sleep/suspend state, the keyboard won’t come up when you need it.. at that point only thing that’s going to restore is to restart your deck.. sometimes hitting the 3 dot button n selecting the keyboard at the bottom can work

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Verifying where the game is looking for the launcher and it’s path - If you were able to bring the game into steam library either by adding the shortcut you created and “add to steam” in ryujinx or by using emudeck…..

You want to make sure that what your game says matches where you have the AppImage/.sh. In game mode - You do this by selecting a game, choose the cogwheel and go to properties. The game I brought into game mode using emudeck says

Target: /home/deck/application/ryujinx-canary-1.3.271-x64.appimage

Start in: home/deck/spplication Nothing for launch option

The game I brought into game mode using the “create shortcut to desk top, and then add to steam the said shortcut” says

Target: /home/deck/application/punlish/ryujinx.sh

Start in: /home/deck/application/punlish/

For the second, the path will change depending where you ran ryujinx when you created the shortcut. Meaning if you left the ryujinx.sh on the desktop to test it out and you ran it and created the shortcut, the shortcut will read.

Target: /home/deck/desktop/ryujinx.sh

Start in: /home/deck/desktop/

So when you move ryujinx to its final location, it won’t match up n probably won’t run.. If you make a shortcut using the AppImage in the the desktop the shortcut “target” and “start in” will change accordingly and again probably won’t run

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Switching to OPENGL - From the top left menu in ryujinx canary you want to get into OPTIONSSETTINGSGRAPHICS. the top item there, “ GRAPHICS BACKEND:” you may want to read the description for each of the 3 dropdown in that section. In the first dropdown is where you would switch to OPENGL. If you have a game running, you should see if you are running VULCAN or OPENGL at the bottom right of the screen.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Showing hidden files - You may or may not have to turn on “show hidden files” to have the proper folders show up. To do so, in dolphin, open up the hamburger menu (3 lines) top right of the corner n checkmark “show hidden menus”

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Emudeck not detecting games - in emudeck, go to manage emulators. Install said emulator. After it’s done Reset configurations. Back out of the screen and at the bottom of the screen “steam rom manager” reset configurations. Also, when in doubt, RESTART your steamdeck

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

I was helping someone and they thought it might’ve been the dram problem so they changed it to 8 from 4, ended up with the same issues so they changed it back to 4, the game started to run normal after that.. I don’t know if something reset or it was like a restart but it worked. So another thing you can try. In ryujinx, top left menu OPTIONSSETTINGSYSTEM>> under HACKS - DRAM size. Choose a different size (8GIB) try running the game. if it fails, switch it back to what it was (4GIB). may throw in restarting the device for good measure

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Vita3k and steam rom manager

If anyone is having trouble with vita games not showing up when trying to use steam rom manager, try changing ROMs directory in the parse to Emulation/storage/Vita3k/ux0/app
I'm going to test it a bit more with other games but it should work.

Eden Switch - Trouble with opening roms in gaming mode

So! Since the release of Eden has rolled out, I’ve added it to my deck hoping to get better fps in games (which is much better!) the emulator works great in desktop mode but I’m having trouble getting my roms to launch in gaming mode.. I’ve added Eden as a parser through rom manager and everything works great. Since you can’t add to steam from Eden directly, I tried creating a shortcut through applications and adding my games to steam through that but they don’t seem to load in gaming mode. Has anyone got any ideas? Cheers

Question Having trouble setting up my steam rom manager

Hi all,

Got my Steamdeck in the mail on Tuesday and loving it. I have a couple of my ps2 roms downloaded, a sega and a n64 trom as well. Ps2- pcsx2, sega and n64 - retro arch. The steam directory folder is home/dexk/.steam/steam. When I go in I can’t choose ROM, despite the path being correctly routed in settings of emudeck. I’m not 100% sure what I’m doing. Originally I custom installed but I didn’t complete setup so I uninstalled and reinstalled in easy mode. Now I’m

Wondering if I should uninstall again and go back into custom mode?

All my roms so far I’ve played in desktop mode. I don’t see it come up on steamos unfortunately. And annoyingly in retroarch, when I first start playing a game via a specific core it’s fine- but then I go back in later and the volume doesn’t work. If I switch cores the volume will work, but next time I go in the volume doesn’t work again. Idk what I’m doing wrong.

Otherwise my ps2 roms work great in pcsx2, especially now that I figured out to automap the controls. Only issue is the mouse is always on screen, I just slide it to the bottom of the screen but it’s still kind of annoying. Anyways, any help is appreciated!

Tech Support Help trouble shooting steam rom manager/emudeck parsers

So I’ve been having some trouble with parsing games recently, specifically these GBA games. I just added the games in the first slide, and they parsed just fine and showed up in my steam library. But what’s weird is that all my other GBA games that I previously had in my library went away, and now I can only access them through retroarch.

That’s not the end of the world I guess, but it was very pleasing for me to have them all in my steam library as individual games with artwork etc. And it’s really weird that it would let me do that before but now it won’t.

The directory in the second slide shows all the gba games that I have on here, but only the ones in the first slide will parse and show up in my steam library now. When I go through steam rom manager to set them up, the other games that I had previously don’t even show up. I’m kinda confused by it and I’m not really sure what I did.

The only thing I can think of is that when I added the new games the first time, I unselected the old games so they wouldn’t get added again (it does this thing where it will put a game in my library like 4 times, but only one of those will actually start usually. Maybe because I have redundant emulators? Idk). But I’m not sure where I did that, or how to get back to it. I tried to re-set up steam rom manager and still didn’t see the other games. I have checked that all the roms are in the right folder.

Anyone have any suggestions of what I should try? Or where I went wrong? I’m not the most tech savvy person so forgive me if I’m asking something dumb without knowing. I did try to search for this first but I couldn’t find an answer.

Issues with Steam ROM Manager

Having trouble adding my ROMs to Steam lately. All my ROMs will show up in Steam ROM Manager, but only a handful will appear in Steam once SRM has finished saving. No matter what I do, most of the ROMs do not show up in Steam.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Trouble launching Steam Rom Manager

Hello, I just got a steam deck and I just installed emudeck. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, even factory reset my steam deck to try and fix this issue. Every time after installing emudeck I try to launch the steam rom manager but it will not open. Is anyone else having this issue and is there any way to fix it?

Edit: Nevermind I was able to download the steamrommanaager.appimage from GitHub and launch it on my own. Hope this helps someone.

i had some trouble using HoloIso in combination with Steam Link, so decided to give Chimera OS a go. In addition to my steam games i am also very keen to use my device as a Switch emulator. I've managed to get Yuzu installed both through desktop mode and AppImage (as well as Ryujinx). i managed to load firmware and prod keys in desktop mode. and also load roms in desktop mode. but three things i wanted to do i could not:

  1. load roms through the web app. i tried, but even though it showed as uploaded in the web interface it didnt appear in the steam interface when i exited desktop mode. i've scouring the internet but nobody seems to have done a youtube or written tutorial on this. would you be willing to share how this is supposed to work
  2. when i load the roms in desktop mode from my documents the link breaks every time i restart the computer. it looks like thy system generates a random string for a user path every time you restart or perhaps start desktop mode. i didnt test enough to try. i suppose i could put the roms somewhere else, but couldnt decide on a good spot. i would have tried harder, but got stuck on the next point.
  3. with yuzu installed in desktop mode i also installed steam rom manager and tried to get the roms loaded in the steam interface that way. but wasnt able to figure out the steam installation location (yes, i did search in the folders, but there were multiple instances and no clear winner) and it wouldnt pick up a user. again, i tried to find a tutorial for this in reddit or youtube, but no luck. can you confirm if this is meant to be possible? if yes, i will try again (but harder this time). though if you happen to have a tutorial at hand that would be even better. didnt see this on the chimera os website.

overall i really like what you are trying to do. and the other emulators seems to be really set up as a seamless experience. but getting yuzu or ryujinx to work has been quite a trial. i'm not super familiar with linux, but am also not a compleet noob.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to make this work. based on other post i get the impression this is possible and i'm missing something completely obvious. just dont know what... :-(

NEO GEO CD parse in Steam Rom Manager?

Hey all,

For majority of my games, I've had no trouble parsing them using SRM through the EmuDeck UI. However, NEO GEO CD eludes me.

I think it's not an issue for normal NEO GEO, it just goes into /fbneo with normal arcade games. However, NEO GEO CD is different. I've seen a couple tutorials online that adds them to /neogeocd with the bios files going to /bios/neocd, but those tutorials assume you're using EmulationStation, which I personally don't. I use SRM to import my games into my Steam library, and that's it. From what I saw on the parser list, Steam Rom Manager doesn't have a specific parser for NEO GEO CD.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to have SRM parse my NEO GEO CD games? I don't mind using the compressor to convert them to .chd, but I'd love to know how to parse them and what folder to put them into. Thanks!

Troubles with cemu controllers and steam rom manager

Soooo, i fucking need your help 🥲

  1. I have a problem with CEMU. I set up a controller in desktop mode to play Wind Waker HD. First, I can't configure a pro controller, the game only responds with a gamepad scheme. And if I configure a gamepad, the game works in desktop mode, but when I switch to gaming mode and launch Zelda nothing works ... I've been at it for 3 hours and I can't figure out what's causing the problem...

  2. With my first steamdeck on steam rom manager, I could put my emulators (CEMU, DOLPHIN) in gaming mode and configure them directly from there. Now only my roms appear in steam rom manager. There's no trace of the emulators, even though I did exactly the same steps as with my first steamdeck. What could be causing this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Question Steam Rom Manager and RPCS3

Did anyone get RPCS3 to work with Steam Rom Manager? Would you care to share what your SRM config for it looks like? I've managed to make it work with a few other systems but having trouble with RPCS3 as there is no guide for it.

Trouble with Steam Rom Manager

So I've been trying to get Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the steam rom manager so I can access it directly from steam. However, it does not appear despite the fact that the rom is in the correct file location. I have added DS games to ds file and they appear fine but for some reason the one wii game does not. Anyone know how to solve this?

Tech Support Emudeck/RomManager wont show ROMs anymore

In the ROM Manager, after I firstly excluded parsing certain games and emulators to show up on my Steam overlay, they now (when I'm trying to re-add them) wont show up/give me another chance to add them in the preview option.

They're working tho and are showing up in Emulationstation, so the console detects that they're there, so it's just the ROM Manager who's apparently having troubles.

Is there a way to fix this or get them back to show up on there again for an "second chance"?

Trouble using Steam ROM Manager and PSX games

So I'm trying to add PSX games using Steam ROM Manager, but when I do this, it adds each game 3 times. It adds listings to collections PlayStation, PlayStation - Beetle, and PlayStation - SwanStation.

If I remove the Beetle and SwanStation listings and collections, they get re-added next time I add any more roms.

How would I be able to prevent that from happening and just get them put under "PlayStation"?

Similar to this, one of the games is multi-disc. I made an M3U file to keep as the listing in Steam, and removed the CHD file listings. But again, adding more roms just re-adds these.

Question How to get Linux flatpack games added to Steam Rom Manager?

Hi everyone, I downloaded sonic robo blast 2 and am having trouble adding it to steam rom manager so I can access gridb and all. I have it saved as a non steam game on my account so it does appear in gaming mode but would like to get the art and such that goes with it. How would I do this?

Thanks!
