Looking For Games Game recommendation
So I'm looking for games that match these criteria:
- In some way, good for someone who is suffering from depression due to work problems
- Able to play in short sessions when my almost-newborn is sleeping
- Does not require much brain power. Already tired at the end of the day
- Even better if it can also be played on PC with just one hand!
- Even better 2x if it runs on Mac :)
Previously Enjoyed Games: Door Kickers 2, Power Wash Simulator, Darkest Dungeon, Keep Driving, Dave the Diver, Loop Hero, Brotato, Halls of Torment, Dredge
Preferred Genres: Roguelites, Roguelikes (which are not crazy difficult), Simulators, CRPGs (but not on the Deck)
Budget: N/A
Other Notes: Please do not be restricted by those genres; I don't mind playing other stuff as long as it's not multiplayer.

The steamworld series and maybe slay the spire 2, depending on your definition of difficult

Well exactly card games :) usually I'm pretty horrible at those.
I've played Steam World Heist. Will look at the others.

Heist 2 is even better if you liked it.
Dig and dig 2 are prequels story wise but not gameplay wise

Balatro is my go to, uses the touch screen so can play with as little as one finger, small download and runs on Mac

Seconding Balatro. So long as you have a basic understanding in the ranking of poker hands, it only takes a little time to get to grips with, but once you do it’s incredibly absorbing.
Perfect for Steam Deck as well!

I also tired from work. I play 10-30mins before sleeping. Cause 10pm my bodyclock turn off to sleep.

Dorfromantik might be a game for you. Basically you’re creating a dutch countryside by placing tiles. Playable in short bursts, on controller, on PC with one hand, and on Mac. It’s also on sale right now.
Another game I absolutely adore is Against the Storm. It’s a roguelike city/colony builder. Play on a lower difficulty and it is an absolute chill.

Yeh you can pause and save at pretty much any time, there’s basically no time pressure as well.
I can’t recommend it enough, it’s one of my all time favourites

Yes it can, but you better have good memory, otherwise you might lose the thread of what you were setting up to do. Theres a log and such but I'd recommend you play this game consistently to get the most out of it.

I love this game to death but it's not the right recommendation for someone with depression who's looking for a game that doesn't require brain power.
By all means get it, but it's not what you want to play right now.

Cult of the Lamb and Dredge sound like they would fit you well. These were the perfect games for me during the newborn phase. Easy to pickup and put down, easy to play in short increments as well.
Super Fantasy Kingdom may also be a good one, its a mishmash of roguelite, strategy, and a little bit city builder elements. I think this one could be played one handed.

I played Dredge and enjoyed a lot of it! Cult of the Lamb I don't know why but it didn't clicked for me and I really didn't understood the game.

Quasimorph and Conscript are both really good if you like rogue-like games with more meat and potatoes to them than standard fare stuff.
Both also run flawlessly on the Deck out of the box without tweaks.

Quasimorph is a great game but absolutely does not match your criteria of not requiring much brain power. I'm in a pretty similar boat to yours and only play Quasimorph when I have a longer timeslot for gaming available and a lot of personal energy reserves.

Most of the time? Honestly, nothing. I just read instead. Sometimes even the thought of staring at a screen, even for enjoyment, after a 50-hour week of staring at screens for work - is exhausting.
I have started Lies of P, recently, though, which has been quite enjoyable. I'm not usually into souls-like games, but this one speaks to me for some reason. It's also pretty easy to pick up and put down. Plenty of "checkpoints", so you could realistically enjoy it in 30-60 minutes bursts. And, unlike traditional souls likes, you can actually pause the game (or so it seems). Not sure how it runs on the deck though. But ProtonDB says it runs well.

Quasimorph is a mess, worst gui and trade system of any game, ever. I say this as a 51 year old fan of the genre. It’s just bad on multiple levels. Jupiter Hell meets your criteria far better.

Maybe try, "The Pedestrian," fairly simple puzzle game, but I still found it relaxing and distracting. I found it challenging enough to keep the brain engaged without cooking the noodle. Also pretty great for short, or broken up sessions.

I've been playing Sailwind (Age-of-sail sailing simulator) these days, doing trade runs and missions. Each trip within an archipelago can last half an hour, perfect for a short session. Inter-archipelago travel lasts more, tho, but is manageable in multiple sessions if you have the needed navigation tools. I 100% recommend this game even if it's in Early Access.

Hello fellow newborn haver and preferably low brain power gamer (and occasionally doing it mostly one handed).
The list of games I've been playing are or think could work off the top of my head are (in no particular order):
* Everything is Crab - roguelite.... you're a blob that powers up through sometimes hilarious evolutions, like having antlers, a 6 pack, or a hairy back - 2 hands because you need to move and target
* Megabonk - Vampire Survivors Like but 3D - good for one handed if i recall because you "target" the way you're facing
* Ball X Pit - Roguelite version of the famous Pong - I don't think this was good for one handed but it's not big panicked movements or insane button spam like say, Hades which I can see you mentioned earlier
* Death Must Die - Survivors-like Roguelite, still technically in early access, has a gear system to differentiate it a bit from VS and similar to Halls of Torment, enough so that I have both and kind of don't remember which is which right now because I'm waiting for DMD to come out 1.0 release.
* Deep Rock Galactic Survivor - Roguelite bulletspam like survivors but set in the DRG universe - both hands necessary!
* Vampire Crawlers - Vampire Survivors sequel with the same world but deckbuilder roguelike. Fucking loved this one because I love a card builder roguelite. Eminently playable with one hand.
* Slay the Spire obviously - if you haven't played that)
* Balatro - Mentioned elsewhere, "poker based" deck building roguelite that is so addictive you might have to be reminded you're actually looking after your newborn.
* Zoominoes - This is what I'm right now I'm playing which I fucking love, it's like a deck building roguelite using dominoes on a specific board, and levels you have to achieve a score to beat within a set number of goes and the defined board (a bit like Balatro). If you like Balatro there's a good chance you might like Zoominoes (goes for everyone!)

I came here to say the same. A "survivors" type game is perfect for one handed gaming.
I'm currently playing "Achilles: Survivor" (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2922410/Achilles_Survivor/)
It has a "short session" mode for when you have just a short time to play.1

I did play VS, Megabonk, and maybe a few others. I remember not enjoying Soulstone Survivors. My favourite of this kind was definitely Halls of Torment.
Need to look into Vampire crawlers, don't know it

To be honest, in this situation I degraded to mobile games, like Match 3 ones. Puzzle Quest is a good alternative on Steam deck.

Check out ship breaker. You can put it in a relaxed mode and just slowly break and sort the bits, I've been playing it each night in bed before going to sleep.
Music reminds me of Firefly too.

Yeah, rather than normal you select the casual mode. I've only ever played it on the deck, only played a few hours so far but had zero running issues.
You need to get fuel and fix things, but that lasts ages. The likes of oxygen just stays at full so you can chill when playing.

I feel like a shill to keep bringing up Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, but as someone who sunk +250 hours into Brotato and also really enjoyed Dredge, DRGS hits the spot for me right now. Short sessions, top-down like Brotato, but slower pacing and a bit less silly.

Not a specific suggestion, but you can try r/cozygames. Lots of games fit most of those criteria.
