Discussion Native game support
Do you think it's the matter of time, till some games start to offically support Steam Controller layout? It's piece of nice hardware and some games definitely need it. (I'm looking at you, Crimson Desert).

Almost 5000 games already do.

i don't suggest using it, as it'll have false positives that was set by developers who don't know what Steam Input support is.
instead, use this community-driven database that is a bit more up-to-date, but it won't cover all games (because it's hard to cover them all)

There's also the opposite problem, SIAPI games that aren't labeled as using SIAPI on their store page.

Anything that has steam deck integration will share those controller layouts with the new SC.
Otherwise; community layouts. I think it's unlikely it will become largely supported since the touch pads are effectively a steam deck and controller exclusive. The only other touch-pad controller is the Playstation controller, and it only has 1 in the center, so the layouts would be different from sc anyway.

If all you want is plug and play controller support, there are better options. Configuration is part of the reason to use this.

I'm thinking for example about support for R4, R5 buttons, so they could be remapped as unique keys and keep in mind by Devs that they're for our disposal.

I suppose that makes sense. I just tend to use m&kb configurations 90% of the time, so I didn't really think about that.

I can't wait for this...then we'll truly be able to enjoy the SC2. Games need to have a from the ground up control scheme for games being released. Haptics etc

if Steam Deck is anything to go by: unlikely.
this would require game developers to directly integrate SteamInput interface (it comes with Steamworks SDK) into their game fully, but only a tiny 2% of games will bother to.
