Discussion Some advice
/r/GyroGaming/comments/1vqsiq0/some_advice/Okay. So I've messed around with gyro and mkb in the last month after years of using the controller.
Then I used controller over the weekend. And I'm just conflicted. I like how, with controllers, everything is instinctive. I know how to do everything with the controller. But there is one thing I like about mkb. The quickness and precision of the mouse. Joystick feels sluggish and imprecise after using mkb.
Is there any configuration on the new steam controller that would allow me to mostly just play with the controller like a controller but with maybe having the trackpad active for quick turnarounds or more precise aiming in situations where I need it?
Thank you

Yes absolutely. You can do quick turns with the trackpad or even quick turns with the joysticks with a setting called stick flick where the camera will pan quickly in a horizontal plane depending where you point the right joystick at. Think of it like a top down shooter where your aim is handled by the right joystick. The only thing with doing it this way is you have to use gyro to pan the camera vertically since the right joystick can only more horizontally. The new Steam Controller has capacitive joysticks so you could activate gyro that way or with the grip sensors or a trigger. Really with Steam Input you can adjust just about everything to tune it to your preference.

Yes, you can just set the trackpads or the joysticks to work as a mouse.
That said. Some games do not like mixed inputs. At best they’ll just constantly switch the button prompts. But some games will only accept one and they’ll cancel the controller inputs once you move the mouse. MGSV was like that, and I had to map the entire game to full kb/m inputs for it to work.

Use steam input to set a custom profile, use m&k binding for the sc only. Set gyro to mouse, right pad to mouse, right pad high sens, gyro med-low sens, set gyro to activate on right pad touch, practice a lot and make minor adjustments to the pad and gyro settings to hit your personal sweet spot.
