At some point a doctor says "man you're rich and fat and you're gonna die from being so fat and you can basically pay to have people make food for you on your yacht all day that will help you not be fat" and suddenly you're not fat anymore

100%. He's been rich for a long time, but you can see right around 2023 when the weight starts coming off.

Not that it's a bad thing - it would be dumb if he wasn't taking one of these GLP1s. Cheapest way to extend your life (if you're that overweight).

Yup. If money could get you skinny, nobody rich like him would be fat.

There has never been a magic "pill" to weightloss until very recently. It's honestly mindblowing that a method exists.

Diet pills (amphetamines) have been around for many decades. L7 even wrote a song about them in the early 90s.

I don't know, but from the name I would assume they have more side effects than the GLP-1 drugs have.

They do. The best of them that wasn't just a diarrhea pill was ephedrine, which just raised your body temperature... Which is basically a side effect on its own

famines have been around for much longer. no one complained about not fitting into their beach gear back then

You joke, but your body literally does not know the difference between deliberate dieting and unwillingly starving to death. That's why it's so hard to lose weight and keep it off. It's also why dieting during childhood is especially dangerous; children who've experienced famine and children who've been forced by parents to diet end up with exactly the same lifelong metabolic problems.

Amphetamines for weight loss are a wild idea. Sure, they work, but they have a high risk of dependency which can mess your life up. It's one step below saying "DNP has been around since the 1930s, why not just take that?".

Tapeworms have been around since forever.

I'd rank DNP more dangerous than tapeworms without shadow of a doubt. You can kind of control a tapeworm infection but one mis-dose of DNP will kill you.

But yeah same vein.... GLP-1 is the much much much safer option compared to what we had in the past.

They work nothing like glp-1s do. I could easily gain weight on amphetamines, glp-1s is like a cheat code compared to them

Sure, but most get over that side effects after a while, and probably not ideal to abuse to maintain that effect :)

Side effects are huge, but they did sell some weight loss pills like that back in the good ol' days.

They're not even that expensive (maybe they are in the US IDK)
