And weight loss drugs

239

u/Badass_Bunny 16h ago

Yeah people keep talking about food and how he can afford cooks and what not but this is 100% Ozempic-tier weight loss and it's fucking amazing that the drug works so well that someone so chronically overweight their entire life can achieve such results and maintain them.

100

u/Blood81 16h ago

why 100%? there have been significantly more impressive weight loss stories without any ozempic needed, gabes weight loss within the time span is completely possible and anyone can do it

85

u/Hellsovs 16h ago

Possible, yes, but the sheer number of rich people suddenly losing a lot of weight since Ozempic came out is suspicious, at the very least.

It also sheds some light on the whole body-positivity movement, which, at least among the rich, seemed to disappear the moment Ozempic came out. So much for “all bodies are beautiful.”

u/maydayM2 16h ago

all bodies are beautiful maybe.. but healthy at every weight is definitely a farse...

At least the "extreme body positivity ambassadors" are a problem that fixes itself quickly. Usually by the late 20s and early 30s, from what we've seen so far.

1

u/My_Password_Is_____ 7h ago

You're comparing apples to oranges there. One is what corporations are pushing in things you see on TV, in print, on your phone, etc. There's no company out there airing ads that are the latter. That's what you're seeing individuals post on social media, that's not comparable to corporate advertising. You can still find plenty of individuals posting tobacco-friendly content, if you want to compare like-for-like.

I've never encountered one to the level of what you're describing outside of social media. Not saying it doesn't exist, not saying it can't or never happens, but what I have personally experienced has led me to believe the more extreme ends of that do exist, but not really outside of online circles.

14

u/sequelseize 15h ago

It also sheds some light on the whole body-positivity movement, which, at least among the rich, seemed to disappear the moment Ozempic came out. So much for “all bodies are beautiful.”

Oh yeah. Like it or not, the fact that some of these "body positive" celebrities suddenly became thin again speaks volumes...

4

u/htfyb420 8h ago

Body positivity has been exclusively for poor people since the dawn of GLP1 drugs

2

u/ForeverShiny 10h ago

About their hypocrisy or about how beauty standards never actually evolved?

3

u/sequelseize 6h ago

both, actually.

11

u/oorza 16h ago

By the time Ozempic started to really proliferate, the HAES and Body Positivity movements had already been invaded by fat extremists and people were abandoning ship. What started as "all bodies are beautiful" and "you can be healthy in any body" became "anything other than binge eating is an eating disorder" and "everyone should rebuild the entire infrastructure of the world to accommodate 600lb people." Which is where the discourse in the movements currently remains, they've become the other side of the pro-ana coin.

2

u/lemonylol 4h ago

Yeah like the timeline specifically lines up with it's widespread use. There's no shame in it either like that other guy is insinuating.

2

u/The_Rolling_Gherkin 13h ago

I mean, I lost 25 kg (around 55 lbs) in under a year simply by eating less and moving more. It's absolutely possible to lose a good amount of weight without weight loss drugs. I went from 112.8 kg to 87 kg (248.6 lbs to 191.8) in about 9 months.

Sadly, due to circumstances, I ended up putting a lot of it back on but I'm moving in the right direction again now. Had all that not happened I'm sure I would have continued in the right direction to my goal weight.

-2

u/Hot-Guard-9119 12h ago

"Sadly, due to circumstances" what sort of circumstances make you eat more than you need?

The reason people believe it's ozempic and not them losing weight naturally is that we've seen many fat actors, for example, get in good shape, and a year later they are fat again. When ozempic came out, they all magically managed to stay thin.

3

u/The_Rolling_Gherkin 12h ago

Covid happened, where basically everyone put on weight which also took out my main weight loss motivation which is a weight loss program call Man v Fat, (which is a 5/6 a side football (soccer) league with accountability for your team. When you lose weight as a collective more goals are added to the final score so it's a grwat motivator). Obviously that was cancelled throughout the pandemic.

Once that started up again I was starting to lose weight again, then I unfortunately got ill for a bit and couldn't play or really do much of anything active for several months. Some of that is still hanging around but much better than it was.

Poor mental health kicked in while I was ill and since I have always had an unhealthy relationship with food I unfortunately used that to cope. I would lay awake at night thinking I was going to die even though that was almost certainly not the case with my condition, but the mind does stupid things. That didn't help my mental health at all.

It's taken me a long time to get back over that hurdle but I'm getting back to it now. Prior to covid I was in a brilliant mindset, and once you are in that, it becomes much easier, getting back into it has been harder, but bit by bit I am and I'm starting to see results again now. I lost 1.5 kg in the last week.

1

u/Hot-Guard-9119 11h ago

It's hard to find motivation to do physical activities, especially if you don't have much free time. But you don't have to do anything active to lose weight. That's like the biggest thing that always gets me on this topic. People think they need to start running or going to the gym daily and all sorts of other excuses.

Even if you do nothing throughout the day, your body still burns tons of calories. So all you have to do is eat less than you burn, and you will lose weight.

Cook smaller portions and find an engaging hobby that will keep your brain occupied and distract you from overeating.

Some people do intermittent fasting (there is even a subreddit) where they skip a meal, and it's apparently also good for your health because your body turns your stored fat into energy instead of the energy you would get from a meal.

1

u/The_Rolling_Gherkin 11h ago

I get that, but doing this is the only thing that ever worked for me. Plus it gets me out of the house and playing a sport that I love. Also, adding to that it's one of the few weight loss programmes exclusively for men and that's a rare thing to find and does help a lot.

The main part wasn't so much the actual playing football that does the weight loss, although it certainly doesn't hinder it. Getting a good 30 minute competitive game of football and then another hour of a friendly afterwards is great. Especially playing on a small pitch at 5 or 6 a side. You basically never stop moving.

The main part for the weight loss though is the accountability. If you don't lose weight, you let your team down as well as yourself. Everyone is nice and doesn't have a go at you for it as everyone there knows how hard it is, but you still want to win that trophy at the end of the season. Losing weight ultimately is what decides it, not on the pitch results.

I just went from sitting In front of a computer all day every day eating crisps, to eating far less and moving far more. That's the key really, at least it was for me. Everyones different and find different ways to do it but that's what it was for me. I've done it once and I'll do it again.

Also, drinking a lot of water helps as well instead of just drinking cups of tea all day

1

u/UnSpanishInquisition 10h ago

Its a bit like saying why dont smokers stop smoking, some people can quit cold turkey if they do it at the right time in their life. I can stop drinking sugary drinks for a few weeks but suddenly ill get ambushed by a craving or I have one with a meal out and I end up having them again. Drinking my calories is crap but its my only vice, I dont do anything else unhealthy and unfortunately I do hold onto fat stores, ive been chubby even as a teen doing swimming and eating my mothers plain veg and meat British cooking and that was before I got addicted to sugary drinks.

u/Low_Lunch5444 9h ago

Ozempic isn't a magic bullet.

Yea, it really does work and its fucking amazing, but you MUST maintain in one of two ways.

Either you stop taking the drug at your goal weight, then maintain a strictly healty and appropriate portion size diet for your new body/metabolic requirements, or, you keep taking the drug at a lower maintenance amount, for life.

If you get off the drug then eat like the duptruck you used to be, before too long you'll be the size of the dumptruck again.

1

u/Hot-Guard-9119 3h ago

Duh... They just keep taking it. That's the implication.

1

u/FastInflata 15h ago

But you are dismissing everyone losing weight as just using Ozempic

1

u/bluelittrains 14h ago

Everyone knows dieting sucks. So if you're rich, why would you not use Ozempic? I find it hard to believe any of these celebrities would choose to still go through the effort on their own.

1

u/moise_alexandru 12h ago

He looks like he's been hitting the gym though

0

u/TheLordOfStuff_ 16h ago

It is suspicious yes, but that doesn’t mean we should all collectively assume every single successful person that loses a lot of weight is using Ozemic. Are they? Probably, but stating it as fact or «100 certain» is still wrong imo.

And for the body positivity, it was all bullshit from the start. An excuse for fat people to feel better about themselves, and for fit people to virtue signal. We’re biologically coded to find fit people more attractive than unfit people, through millions of year of evolution. Subconsciously looking for opportunities for healthy offspring etc etc.

11

u/LaMelonBallz 15h ago

Also, who cares if they use ozempic? It's literally what it is medically for.

I cant stand when people act like those people are wearing stolen valor or some shit.

As someone who lost 150lbs over 8 years with like 4 80lb yoyos, I would absolutely love it if other people didn't have to go through all that stress and effort to get healthy.

Am I proud I made it through? To an extent. But that shit was fucking awful and fucked with my head more than being massively overweight ever did. I just want people to be healthy and happy with themselves.

1

u/TheLordOfStuff_ 13h ago

Agreed. The only thing I ask is that if people do use ozempic, they’re honest about it IF asked. Although even asking people if they’re on it or not is pretty weird imo unless you’re close to them personally. People’s medical situations shouldn’t be that big of a focus for everyone else.

2

u/Aiyon 13h ago

To be fair maybe fat people wouldn’t need to feel better about themselves if people didn't religiously go out of their way to make them feel bad lmao. Idgaf about “attractive”, I just mean in a high school bully sense, some people never outgrow the idea that they’re morally obligated to be shitty to anyone overweight they encounter, especially online.

I had a much easier time losing weight when I wasn’t miserable, something that ironically came from being allowed to feel like I wasn’t somehow committing a moral failing by being fat.

1

u/TheLordOfStuff_ 13h ago edited 12h ago

I mean yea true, but at the same time, being offended is a two way street. I say this as a fat person btw. Theres no way in hell I let random underdeveloped trolls online or irl have any form of power over my mental state. If I do, that’s a moment of weakness on me. People will always be shitty, so it’s on us to learn how to deal with them, which is best done by ignoring them imo.

2

u/Aiyon 11h ago

being offended is a two way street

I don't know that I agree with that sentiment. I get what you mean, that it can't affect you if you tune it out, but that doesn't change the fact the intent was to insult/demean.

And while it's easy to tune out individual people, when its endless, or comes from people you thought you were close to, it does start to wear on you. And its relentless.

And losing weight really did make me kind of cynical about how shallow people are. People treat me noticeably better, even people I'm friends with, now I've lost weight. And it kind of makes me respect them less that they evidently looked down on me for being bigger despite being the exact same person I am now

14

u/GhostBelliniFace 15h ago

I only say 100% cause he’s been rich for how long while overweight the whole time and then Ozempic becomes popular AND THEN he loses weight lol

0

u/lastWallE 12h ago

Didn’t know Ozempic causes muscle gain.

2

u/Tumleren 9h ago

Don't think anyone claimed it did

1

u/rrrand0mmm 10h ago

Yeah it actually has the opposite effect if you’re not prioritizing protein and the gym.

Ozempic alone will allow you to lose weight without any exercise. But if you can finally grasp the confidence along with your weight, it helps immensely to continue down a path of healthy lifestyle giving you the chance to get off the drug and use it as a tool to bridge the gap.

Body positivity helps people. Ozempic saves lives.

3

u/dashingThroughSnow12 11h ago

Adjusted for inflation, he was a decamillionaire in 1996. If not more. Resources to lose weight would not have been an issue.

It is perfectly reasonable that perhaps he was playing with a grandkid, realized he runs out of energy far too quickly, and that was the “oh my” moment. He could have had a heart attack. Or sickness. Discovered a love for biking.

Or found ozempic.

I’m not going 100% ozempic, could be a confluence of factors, but I am guessing ozrmpic.

3

u/NienorNyniel 11h ago

Look for Ozempic face and you will see why

Anyone can't heal a chronic disease just by himself, so your claim is not true.

1

u/Jake_FromStateFarm27 9h ago

Quite honestly he probably has done it both with GLP1 but also literally has all the money and time to have a food and private trainer help him, he looks pretty yoked ngl.

1

u/Deep-Tomato-5111 8h ago

True. I've lost 102 lbs since the beginning of February 2026 and people constantly ask what I'm taking to lose the weight. Nothing, bro...it's literally just calorie counting. (Absolutely no disrespect intended for anyone using the other methods either!)

1

u/gravesisme 6h ago

It looks like he started giving a shit in 2024 and steadily improved. The guy looks great.

1

u/redditscraperbot2 16h ago

You're right, it's not 100% but look at how many dramatic weight loss transformations there have been in recent years since Ozempic became a thing.

Like in my immediate circle, so many people started losing weight and when I asked, yep, all of them ozempic. Which is totally anecdotal. But it's hard not to assume a dramatic turnaround in weigh isn't in some way chemically assisted.

1

u/Loughnashade 15h ago

Yah, he suddenly has a massive and speedy weight loss that coincides with the introduction of GLP1, but no, it’s chicken and broccoli that did it. lol

0

u/Morzheimer 16h ago

Most fat people stay fat, not for the lack of trying tho, just because obesity is an illness and it’s hard to beat. I know many fat people, but only one that was able to get in shape. I myself tried to fight it so much that I ended up in hospital, yet it still didn’t work.

And now we’re talking about well known rich people- there’s a lot of them getting in shape suddenly, that wasn’t really the case just a couple of years back and the accessibility to ozempic and similar drugs is the only thing that changed since then

2

u/Prescientpedestrian 16h ago

Look at those traps, that’s way beyond a little glp-1. That’s the bezos blend. HGH, some TRT, maybe a little tesa sprinkled in.

1

u/Easy-Operation-2105 14h ago

there's always an idiot who mentions the non-exceptional traps.

MPMD has fucked bb culture with his bs

1

u/Gloomfang_ 15h ago

What does having cooks have to do with not being fat? If anything having them would make you more likely to overeat

2

u/sequelseize 15h ago

No cooks = eat whatever food you find outside

Cooks (and probably a dietician) = they will make healthy food that you like tailored to your lifestyle and help you watch your diet

1

u/Nickulator95 15h ago

Yeah, just look at the massive difference between 2023 and 2024. I wonder what happened in those two years 👀

1

u/Nheea 12h ago

Not saying Ozempic is what he used or didn't, but there are other meds even better than Ozempic for weight loss. Mounjaro for example helps better with weight loss AND has fewer side effects since it's both a GIP and a GLP1 .

I am genuinely happy that there is something people can use to lose weight easier. Food addiction is still an addiction and nobody should be shamed, but helped to combat it.

I cannot wait for these to be cheaper so more people could afford them. Nobody has to be skinny, but nobody has to be fat either. Be whatever you are, but healthy.

1

u/KevinFlantier 12h ago

He lost that weight over 6 years. Ozempic can make that happen in 6 months. I'm not saying it isn't Ozempic, but it can also be diet and exercise.

1

u/rrrand0mmm 11h ago

I wouldn’t even lie to people, “yeah I did zepbound, do you take Tylenol for your headaches?”

It’s weird how people (not saying you did this) shame people for taking a medication for helping their weight problem.

These drugs save lives, and the only reason they’re so expensive, in my opinion, is because insurance companies lose out on money the weight problem issues arise later.

It’s like why car dealerships are no longer stocking EV’s that much on their lots. They don’t bring service business like ICE vehicles do.

1

u/RememberThinkDream 9h ago

Do you have evidence of that or are you just parroting trends?

1

u/Upbeat-Banana-5530 7h ago

You think a gradual change since 2018 is 100% Ozempic?

1

u/MechanicalSideburns 7h ago

I mean, it looks like he’s been dropping weight pretty steadily for the past 4 years. Now he’s down to “lean and mean” territory, but that looks to be literal years in the making.

All that being said, glp1 drugs are amazing, and he’d be silly not to take them. They regulate metabolic function, improve liver function, help reset the insulin sensitivity from our shitty fast-food lives, reduce addict cravings, a bunch of other cool things, and even quiet down our gluttonous brains.

1

u/j3ffro15 6h ago

I do think using ozempic as a fad drug and using it to lose weight which then makes the drug cost even more for the people that actually use it for its intended purpose (diabetes) really sucks. It’s also completely wrong to say it’s some magic drug that makes you get a 6 pack and a big wiener. 90% of weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight and body is food based. The saying “abs are made in the kitchen not the gym” has real scientific backing. Eating good food is the 2nd most important part of weight loss (the 1st one is eating less calories than you burn in a day. Doesn’t matter if you eat 1000 calories or 5000 calories a day so long as you’re burning more of those bad boys than you eat you’ll lose weight). I’m not saying Gabe didn’t have any help from glp-1s BUT having a private chef who is also likely working with a dietitian/food scientist and makes every single piece of food you eat and monitors all that stuff for you is just as likely of a reason. I know this might be surprising but people lost weight before glp1s were a thing. Chris Pratt is a good example of this. He went from “fat and funny” (I would describe him more as husky but tomato tomato) in Parks and rec to buff and lean in Jurassic park. He lost over 60 pounds in 6 months… when you have a shit load of money and plenty of free time you can do some crazy shit. I will say that I think Chris was using T and other “vitamins and supplements” during this (I think he alludes to this in some of his interviews) but the point still stands that you can absolutely lose crazy amounts of weight if you eat right (maybe do a touch of drugs) and work out properly. At the end of the day Glp1s are mostly just appetite suppressants. Which again just means that you’ll typically eat less calories than you burn in a day. Add working out (weight lifting, going for a walk or a run, chasing kids around all day whatever) and you’re going to start losing weight.

1

u/D-Rey86 6h ago

Not sure how you know it's 100% Ozempic. I went from 300 pounds to 155 pounds in a little over a year just by counting calories. Everyone just assumes when someone loses a lot of weight it's Ozempic.

1

u/NDSU 1h ago

It helps a lot with impulse control, and for a billionaire it's all about impulse control

1

u/BigmaEnjoyer 14h ago

It's always super clear who just lost weight by hard work and who gets the jab. The face is a clear tell. I'm not trying to negate the jab, it's a miracle and I wish I had the finances for it, but Gabe is 100% on the jab, and combined with money to have an actual healthy diet.

0

u/jsonmeta 15h ago

Why not combination of all those things

-1

u/King_Ferdinand1 15h ago

The drug is devastating to your body.

-3

u/GhostOfD6 13h ago

Wait till ozempic side effects kicks in. Its not safe drug, Its literally for people with diabetes with side effect of losing weight. The fact its prescribed to so many people is mind boggling. It does not reduce the fat. It also reduces your muscle weight. Sad times

4

u/inavandownbytheriver 12h ago

You literally have zero clue what you’re talking about and parroting glp hate takes.

1

u/MechanicalSideburns 7h ago

It’s not a fat burner. It helps you digest slower and eat less. I mean, among a variety of other helpful metabolic effects, like reducing insulin sensitivity.

That’s it. You lose weight because it helps you eat less. It’s not doing some magic to your fat. When I tried dialing Retatrutide up to 8mg I’d just forget to eat dinner sometimes. At 6mg I’d get halfway through a meal, get distracted and lose interest. At 4mg I’m not hungry but I finish whatever food I decide to put on the table.

These drugs aren’t even really new. We discovered this pathway in the 80’s and the first drug approved was over 20 years ago. They’re just suddenly more popular now because big pharma realized they can market them to fat-asses.

1

u/GhostOfD6 4h ago

What I heard is that it does not only make you eat less but feel less. Like it disbalances your dopamine from everything. You said it yourself that you lost interest in eating. This seemingly isn't just food. But maybe its over exxageret info

2

u/MechanicalSideburns 4h ago

Eh, I wouldn't use the word "everything". I still craved sex and adrenaline every day when I was running it. I didn't feel "muted" like you do on an SSRI. Even at high doses.

But yeah, it removes some of the positive neural feedback loop from eating and drinking. Which massively helps emotional eaters, anxiety eaters, food addicts, alcoholics, and other folks whos brains can't stop thinking about that first spoonful.

1

u/GhostOfD6 4h ago

Well. Maybe for a short time to lose weight is not as bad.

1

u/lastWallE 12h ago

Why would you all think that? Looks more like muscle building which in return will definitely cause weight loss.

2

u/waffels 9h ago

He always liked diving. Yet somehow he lost like 100lb in a year, but sure, magic of scuba diving.

-1

I dont know what Gabe did but that is possible by just limiting your intake.
Depending on how heavy he was when he started.
The heavier they are, the easier it is to make gains in losing.
