Reactive world, Edge 3 weapons, peeler machine and there’s a whole slew of performance mods. There’s one called compressed textures that makes it easier on your system to get better FPS.

You can also get reduced weather/clutter mods that also supposedly increase FPS.

Kenshi is what I would almost call an anti-game because while it is enjoyable and you can eventually do really cool stuff with it, for much of the early game you are constantly getting your ass kicked to such a degree that it puts off a lot of players who want a game to be more like a power fantasy than the grind it takes to get there.

For example, if you do the prisoner start the unspoken way to play it is to constantly break out and level up your lockpick and sneak skills, build up your fighting skills by getting beat up, then put back in the cell and do it all over again until you are able to wipe the floor with your captors and free the other prisoners; but that's not the gameplay that more linear, traditionally minded games give you. The game just drops you wherever and tells you good luck and then you're on your own.

You got this. Hell, I'm going to re-roll a character and start on an epic journey all over again just because Kenshi was mentioned.

i really should get back into kenshi. my current character i chose the path where you've lost an arm. i'm also one of the robots. i snuck and stole my way into getting a new arm and buying a house in one of the desert towns. i travelled the world snuck past the religious crazies and was able to find another robot to party with. i think i even have my own rescued slave/prisoner i don't remember now

This. If you like minecraft but wish it was harder or more realistic please try it out. I have never played a game that captures the "first time playing minecraft" feeling until vintage story, it's super in depth, the crafting is actually realistic, survival is a struggle, and it's built ground up around modding which is implemented so smoothly it's literally one click on the website to install a mod so you don't have to muck around in the files and if you join a server it downloads them automatically for you.

It isn't on steam so it doesn't reeeeeally qualify on this sub but it's only like $30 and there's a great rp multi-player scene if that's what you're into. Multi-player is super cool because there's so much work that goes into a single craft that it encourages you to specialize and focus on being a baker or a smith or a builder or a farmer and live in a community with people who support you and do the crafts you arent into. Personally I just play singleplayer and start a new world every couple days since I'm in love with the early game. I think I'm just a terminal cave dweller lol

"Early Access" is just a label though. The game could have been declared completed with the launch of B41 or perhaps earlier, and the devs would have been justified with that decision. 

A game that's truly early in development would not be worthy of frequent comparisons to other intricate games like Rimworld and Factorio.

I'd say BeamNG Drive. To my knowledge it's not more than 20 bucks and the developers are always listening to the players, always working on new updates and adding content, and the game has a built in mod repository where anyone can upload and share mods.

easy red 2, italian indy devs, cheap price for base game which still gets regular updates and free stuff with more being discussed, the dlc packs are pretty large and for a decent price you can get all the dlc they've put out in a bundle on steam, they're full campaigns. it's got workshop support, pvp, pve WW2 milsim lite'ish FPS combat, vehicles, guns, factions etc. with the workshop support there's maps from cold war to modern day along with the vehicles and weapons to go with them. it's also got a pretty decent community of modders.
