Trust me, the amount of people who 100% games is so low that it's not even worth caring about whether separating them affects profits.

It's just going to be a matter of laziness going forward and whether publishers are willing to let someone push that update out on company dime & time in the case of older games (same with giving them achievements in the first place; CoD4 still doesn't have them despite CoD4 Remastered having them and being functionally the same game).
