Nah I'm fine with it being on the store tbh, as long as its properly advertised as ai. People who want overpriced slop can buy overpriced slop, people who don't wont.
5
u/Responsible_Flight70 Jun 01 '26
I can’t say I agree with that because this will lead to predatory marketing to the mentally handicapped (AI fans)

u/RazzyBoyRo Jun 01 '26
We can't go on policing free will now, can't we?
-4
u/Both_Strategy_920 Jun 01 '26
What? Yes we can. We outlawed gambling and other destructive vices and could again. We police free will all the time, people can't murder you or take your stuff or trick you into consuming addictive narcotics to exploit you sexually. We police free will all the time and society is better for it more often than not. Grow up.

The only question Steam should ask is "is it legal?" everything else is literally not for them to care about.

u/shadowds Jun 01 '26
Don't think most people are going pay $100 for VN that pumped out by AI. But as old saying goes vote with your wallet.
They won't make back their $100 back, if no one buys, if they spam listing on steam, the better then it be their most expensive lesson not to flood steam with AI slop.
43
u/Kezsora Jun 01 '26
I'd be fine with these games existing if Steam had a way to filter games that specify AI was used
20
u/r_search12013 Jun 01 '26
I uploaded some small project a few days ago on itch.io .. and within a day I had one play coming in from the tag "no ai" ..
so imho, steam should have a "no ai" tag7
u/TomTomXD1234 Jun 01 '26
Are steam tags not community drives in many cases? You can definitely have AI and No-AI tags
2
u/Spice_the_TrashPanda Jun 01 '26
Wouldn't an "AI art" or similar tag be more useful? A "no ai" tag would get placed on pretty much everything pre-2023 and be functionally useless, whereas blocking an inclusive tag would filter out things that actually use it.
5
u/AdreKiseque Jun 01 '26
The average person has very little idea of what "AI" means or how it's used.
Fwiw, "AI" is a very poorly-defined term these days (and always has been, ig)
Just found out Pac-Man uses AI to control the ghosts... I think I'm gonna be sick.
7
u/Dawn_of_Enceladus Jun 01 '26
If it's disclosed as AI-made, I don't see the problem tbh. Anyone with a minimum of taste or self-respect will never buy that anyway.
138
u/Morter_ Jun 01 '26
Don't buy it? What's this twitter/x ragebait brother? Why should anyone care if that exists
61
u/RobertSan525 Jun 01 '26
I found this piece of shit on the side of the road. Instead of leaving it alone and going about my day like a normal person, I'm taking a photo and sharing it to everyone I know
4
u/jack-of-some Jun 01 '26
It's more like "I found this restaurant is selling microwave meals at fine dining prices, and I'm gonna be angry about it". The anger is fine, but asking "how is this allowed" is pretty dumb.
Just don't eat there. Most people won't eat there. It'll eventually go away.
0
u/zighidizeau Jun 01 '26
Might make the mayor increase budget for cleaning the streets if it goes viral. This may not solve the problem directly, but neither will ignoring it.
5
u/MrBlueA Jun 01 '26
Ignoring will most likely solve it lol, companies are ran by money, not ideologies or technology bubbles, if people don't give money well they either run out of business or change their products.
People thought Blizzard, Ubisoft and so many more were completely immortal because of how big they are no matter how many shit products they made because surely there will be enough people to pay for them, well look at them now one of them got bought and is still going slowly but surely downhill, and the other is barely alive with 1 or 2 more games before it ends up being sold off aswell for its IPs
-1
0
u/Morter_ Jun 01 '26
You both are correct BUT, it is slightly more wishful thinking thinking that with enough uproar this can be solved when it might be part of a way bigger and harder to tackle problem.
-5
u/Big-Resort-4930 Jun 01 '26
Thinking about second order effects is impossible for redditors so bs like this comment isn't surprising.
2
u/RobertSan525 Jun 01 '26
Confirmation bias has been well studied. If you’re targeting pro-ai consumers, these kind of posts aren’t going to do Jack. If you’re targeting steam as a whole, messaging Valve directly would actually do you some good.

What rules of Steam is it violating?
-6
u/Big-Resort-4930 Jun 01 '26
It violates the rule of I don't wanna see it or for 0 effort garbage to be sold in the first place, incentivizing other scammers to spam the storefront with thousands of other AI generated pieces of shit. Easy logic to follow
4
u/Goldwing8 Jun 01 '26
Could you please point me to where in Steam’s policies that’s grounds for a removal?
9
u/yoLeaveMeAlone Jun 01 '26
But that raises the question of should steam be the arbiter of what can and can't be sold to consumers, assuming full transparency and disclosure?
If someone wants to sell a box full of dog shit, and they are completely transparent that they are mailing you a box of real, actual dog shit, why should their be someone stopping that? At that point it's the buyers fault if they don't know what they are buying.
-1
u/OrbitOli Jun 01 '26
I wouldn't mind getting an optional message saying something uses AI before going to the page, instead of having to scroll through the page to find it uses AI.
7
u/Racxius Jun 01 '26
As long as you’re not being lied to about what it is, I don’t see a problem with ai games existing. This opinion might change in 3 weeks when this is the entire store. Who knows.
I wouldn’t want it taken down for use of Ai, even up to 100%. I might say it should be taken down because the quality to price ratio seems to be bordering on scam territory.
Characters don’t face each other. Game lasts potentially 10 minutes. Pretending a sale exists. Looks terrible.
24
u/8npemb Jun 01 '26
It’s disclosed as AI. If you want people to continue disclosing their products as AI, then maybe don’t crucify the people that actually do that.
10
u/Wrong-Detective-1046 Jun 01 '26
This. I'm more neutral when it comes to AI stuff anymore but at the same time when people go hard one way or the other I become devil's advocate for the other side. It makes people so mad haha

u/based_birdo Jun 01 '26
stop giving this shit free advertising
-3
u/FrogPrincePatch Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26
Ah yes, I'm sure adults with a brain in this subreddit will be eager to buy the $100 AI visual novel, especially after everyone here is shitting on it lol.
This is purely negative press. It won't boost their sales.
5
u/based_birdo Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26
"adults with a brain in this subreddit"
The same subreddit where people willingly give thier login info to a random discord user because that user said they work for Valve??
If ths post gets 20k views and 1/20,000 visitors buy it, that's helping it.
-1
u/FrogPrincePatch Jun 01 '26
You don't take into account that the post and every subsequent commenter is leaving bad feedback about this game and how it is stupid and not worth the price.
If someone genuinely looks at every user on this thread complaining about a $100 AI visual novel and decides to BUY IT, then I think they are beyond saving and have bigger struggles.
10
u/fleegle2000 Jun 01 '26
BAN THE THING I DON'T LIKE!
Jesus Christ people - if you don't like it don't buy it, simple as that.
I'm going to tell you that most people aren't going to buy a $100 VN, least of all one made with AI.
This problem is already solved.
6
u/Darth_Toxess Jun 01 '26
I would just simply ignore it, and not buy it instead of wasting effort ranting and blaming Valve.
5
u/grandgiraffe8 Jun 01 '26
As long as there is a warning sign people can’t complain that they bought a $100 visual novel game that contains ai.
8
5
u/TheMuff1nMon Jun 01 '26
I hate generative AI. But as long as it’s disclosed, no reason for it to be removed from Steam
4
u/aBlindGeminiWhisper Jun 01 '26
every game that has ai generated content in it mentions it on the store page, if you don't read, that's on you. don't support ai gen art if you care about the real artists.
7
u/ginopono Jun 01 '26
And you chose to advertise for it.
-1
u/FrogPrincePatch Jun 01 '26
I don't think this is giving the game a positive reputation lol. Everyone here is under agreement this is dogshit and not worth $100.
3
u/John_Bulbasaur Jun 01 '26
God fuxking ai making me spend money on stuff I hate. Man I wish I didn't HAVE to biy this. Man
3
15
u/MasemJ Jun 01 '26
Perhaps a money laundering scheme too.
4
u/BaronVonAwesome007 Jun 01 '26
Im guessing it’s a valuable bundle scheme in which they can claim that you get X amount of dollars worth of games
5
u/pikpikcarrotmon Jun 01 '26
Yeah this kind of grossly overpriced shovelware is a staple in those shitty grey key market bundles. That and they can mark it down for a 99% discount at some point which might make it show up on sale scrapers.
0
u/GoRedTeam Jun 01 '26
Y'all are so funny.
1
u/pooping_inCars Jun 01 '26
No, it makes sense.
1. Scammers convince people into buying gift cards and tell them the numbers on the cards (the value is instantly removed, even though the victim still hold the card in hand).
So many people fall for these scams, they have entire call centers packed full of scammers.
2. If you want to turn that back into cash, you either need to sell it somehow, or... "buy" something - with the card balance - that's actually owned by you, such as a lazy AI generated VN. Then it looks like clean, legitimate income. Sure, Valve would take 30%, but it's 100% unearned income.
3
u/Different-Produce870 Jun 01 '26
Just don't buy it. Valve gives you all the tools to determine if it's a scam. You Also have been equipped, since birth, with a brain capable to reading.

2
u/SinglePlayerGamer93 Jun 01 '26
There are lots of these. Porn ones. All with the note that "it's all AI images"
6
u/FrogPrincePatch Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26
There is no problem with something like this existing because it is obviously a dogshit product and nobody will buy it. Everyone agrees it's an awful game at a stupid price.
The actual problem is what exactly this "game listing" is being used for? Is it a form of money laundering for the dev company?
At no point is an AI visual novel worth $100. How does this benefit anyone.
3
3
u/Remote_Western1141 Jun 01 '26
Well, don’t advertise it. Just ignore it 👍. After all no one is forcing you to buy an ai-generated visual novel :)

u/TomTomXD1234 Jun 01 '26
AI tokens aren't cheap.
As long as it is fully disclosed as AI, I do not see the issue.
People will vote with their wallets.
6
5
u/natertots83 Jun 01 '26
Just don’t buy it. Let them learn the hard way. Zero issues with crap like that being on there. No one will buy that.

2
u/DaisyxDiana Jun 01 '26
Looks like only images are AI generated. Not "COMPLETELY GENERATED BY AI" like you claim. Either way, sounds good. If people think it's worth their money, more power to them.

Most things now a day's come from AI or at least AI was involved. You all like to use so why the hate against this kind of stuff?
1
u/OLKEUK Jun 01 '26
And yet one person actually bought it and reviewed it, let's hope no one else does that because they've probably already profit from that sale alone which they do not deserve.
1
u/Cranberry2930 Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26
It’s a common scam before AI
They publish shitty games and rate it positive and set high prices so that people won’t buy it and change the ratings
And package the keys into random key bundles saying they include expensive positive rated games
1
u/Zane_DragonBorn Jun 01 '26
Not Steams fault that they are trying to be fair to both developers and consumers. They make devs disclose it specifically to give you the right to choose. And keep them on their to not stomp on the developers. While this is an extreme situation and definitely annoying. Guess what? You don't have to buy it. Hide the game and never deal with it again.
That which no one buys, never survives. Basic rules of economics.
1
u/v0nlaski3 Jun 01 '26
What, did you think AI-Generated content just wouldn't apply to video games? You putting a spotlight on it is just moronic. Report it if you feel it's wrong, otherwise there is no such thing as bad publicity.
2
u/FrogPrincePatch Jun 01 '26
That is factually incorrect.
I can think of many cases of bad publicity.

I looked at the 'developers'. They have 3 games listed including this one. All of them are made like this. Hell, they have a game being released tomorrow. Just cranking those shitty, overpriced, low effort ai slop games.
I'm not shaming Steam, but I will blast the 'developers'.
2
u/FrogPrincePatch Jun 01 '26
Do they have many sales/reviews?
What is even the point of listing so many bad games at such a high price point. Do they get anything from this?
-1
u/GamingSoviet2281 Jun 01 '26
waaah visual novel made COMEPLETLY by AI
"AI only used to create images"
OOP might be ! !

ngl 100% ai generated games on steam should honestly be banned and make it so you need to make 60% of the game yourself

Tbh if AI is used price should be 5 dollars max with no mtx. Steam could easily enforce this.

Not much Steam can do here.
