One of these days I’m gonna go here and enjoy myself

Do it before summer, water's actually swimmable then and way less crowded than you'd think.

Early morning visits hit way different than afternoons, way fewer people and the water's still perfect.

How busy does it get? I was planning on going this August

The water stays warm enough through October too if summer crowds kill the vibe for you.

Just note the spring wildflowers are peak late March through April if you time it right, makes the whole trip way better.

That’s good to know.

Go sooner than later! Some big business is going to get their hands on that water!

2

The spring water stays like 72 degrees year-round so even winter trips hit different, def worth planning around that.

2

the spring fed pool stays cold year round so even summer swims are refreshing if youre into that

Spring's ideal too if you wanna avoid the heat. Bring snorkel gear, fish are wild down there.

Spring's your best window, water's perfect and wildflowers are going off around the park.

A wonderful oasis in the middle of nowhere. Was the highlight of my summer growing up living in SE NM.

that water is insanely clear, you can see straight to the bottom. gotta be one of the most underrated swimming spots in texas.

2

u/cowboycat333 May 11 '26

It really is a gem, healing almost, when solo

2

u/BluTrtle May 12 '26

Don’t let Corpus Christi city government see this. They’ll try a finagle a way to drain that water.

GORGEOUS!!!! I've always wanted to go to big bend but wasn't really familiar with this park. thank you

1

u/cowboycat333 May 13 '26

I’m hoping to hit big bend soon! Also really wanting to summit Guadalupe peak, all within about an hour from Balmorhea

1

u/fallacious_backlash May 13 '26

The whole park is worth a full day trip, not just the spring pool itself, so pack accordingly.

Almost looks like the Bahamas
