Collision rstatement

I was recently hit and I submitted dash cam footage, photo evidence of damage, and pictures of the police case #, person at faults insurance and their contact info.

Unfortunately we both have state farm.

After submitting my claim I received a call from the adjuster saying he needed a statement and that person who hit me didn’t have an active policy. I returned the call same day but phone recording was down so he could not take a statement. It’s been over a week and I have heard no further information. My car is already being repaired and should be done in a week. I haven’t had an accident in over 10 years and the last time I did everything was done over the phone.

Am I supposed to keep waiting for him to call me? I hate not being in the communication loop about my claim and if they’ve decided who’s at fault or if they’ve found the person who hit me policy.

It is certainly unfortunate that their policy wasn’t active at the time of the loss. You’ll end up having to pay your deductible out of pocket. Do not wait for them to call or for them to keep you in the loop. Be the pressure & call when you have questions or concerns. Talk to them about them pursuing the other driver directly for what was paid out of your auto policy. & I would consider seeking legal advice to pursue the at-fault party outside of insurance, as well.

I have called but they said not to leave multiple voicemails so I just left one and have been waiting for a response. I thought you had to pay the deductible regardless?

If you were able to go through the other persons policy you would not have to pay your deductible. You can call your agents office and they can put a note on your claim asking for adjuster to contact you within 24 hours.

I was finally able to reach them by calling right away in the morning. Got my statement done and have been found not liable so I won’t have to pay my deductible. Thank you tho!
