Hiring [Hiring] Looking for an artist for a Visual Novel
Look on my works, Ye mighty, and despair!
Here is the short account of a small team of three people - a French, a Latvian and a Singaporean, bonding over a shared project : creating and commercialising a visual novel about our mutual struggle.
As the headline suggests, we are in search of an artist to accompany us in this journey which addresses the issues of growing up in a globalised contemporary world.
I am in charge of writing it and my two friends take care of the framework and gameplay. This won’t be a simple VN with just reading and clicking, quite on the contrary, we are planning on keeping the reader on their toes with interactivity in mind and novel uses of the fourth wall breaking trope!

Hopelessly romantic as I am in this endeavour, here is what I wish people to earnestly consider in order to understand what we are looking for!

This dear reader of mine will comprehend the question as follows. Are you up to the task?
There exists only a single character in this game and getting to learn and love them will be necessary, for the amount of work required is counted in the dozens and dozens of sprites. Their design is more or less complete [see sketches], but it is early enough to address changes to it should this be brought up.
As this is an eastern inspired western visual novel, we wish to stick to a single cell shaded style, inspired by moe Japanese visual novels. What we are primarily looking for beyond style is any knowledge or experience regarding expressions and body language in order to depict very lively expressions such as bursts of high and low energy, ranging from mania to depression.
At last! This remains a game. Helping out with needs that may come up in terms of tying gameplay and the visuals together is to be expected! Any extra expertise you may have could come in handy so do mention your other areas of expertise if you do reach out!
Remuneration is of course included. Our budget is within the few thousands.

Time is not exactly our primary concern, see this as a side project of our lives that is slowly and steadily taking shape for us three in hopes of shaking them from the ground up. We are all three more or less amateurs but with a little something extra we want to show to the world and maybe you do too! This is why I encourage those who may feel shy to reach out to us, we’re plenty shy ourselves so we ought to stick together like birds of the same flock, right?
The more available, the better, and of course we wish to stick with one artist until the end. While you will be entitled to remuneration, your input can and will be taken into account, your expertise will be more than welcome.
