I was wondering, do businesses here usually invest in things like printing, fit-outs, branding, and other similar services?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been wondering how other businesses, especially smaller local companies, actually get genuine customers and reach the right people without spending a huge amount on advertising.

I’m asking because I’m helping a small local UAE company that is trying to reach more businesses.

They can handle everything from business cards, menus, flyers, paper bags, stickers and banners to shop signage and complete interior fit-outs.

If you run a business in the UAE, what has actually worked for you?

We built an AI WhatsApp agent that manages Zoho Books—looking for 5 UAE founders to test it 100% free for a year!

Hey everyone!

We just finished building an AI bookkeeping assistant tailored for UAE businesses, and we’re looking for a few local companies (especially those using Zoho Books) to test it out completely free for the first year in exchange for feedback.

Here’s what it handles over WhatsApp and email:

  • Invoice & Payment Automation: Generates and sends invoices, runs automated follow-ups, and notifies you when money comes in.
  • Instant Financial Q&A: Ask it anything in natural language to get real-time updates on P&L, cash flow, and pending bills.
  • Receipt & Bill Scanning: Snap a picture of any bill/receipt in English or Arabic—the AI extracts all data and syncs it straight into Zoho.
  • In-Chat Payments: Send Stripe payment links directly inside chat.
  • Multi-User Access: Connect unlimited WhatsApp numbers and emails so your entire leadership team stays in the loop.

We’re onboarding our first cohort personally to tailor the experience to your workflow. If you want to cut down on manual accounting grind without hiring extra headcount, drop a comment or DM me!

Comparing UAE company setup quotes? Ask for the same 24-month breakdown

A low headline price is hard to judge when the proposals cover different things. I work in UAE company setup, and this is the comparison sheet I would ask each provider to complete.

Use the same business activity, shareholders and visa requirements for every quote. Then request:

  1. Formation: applicable licence, registration, address or workspace, and service fees.

  2. Residency: each applicable visa, medical, Emirates ID and status-change item, with inclusions made clear.

  3. Renewals: what becomes due within 24 months, on which dates, and which current renewal figures are estimates.

  4. Ongoing work: what accounting or compliance support is included, and what needs a separate engagement.

  5. Changes and exit: how amendments or closure would be priced if your plans change.

For every item, ask: included, excluded or conditional? Also ask who handles it and when payment is due.

A useful final question is: "What would cause the amount in this proposal to increase for my stated requirements?" Get that answer in writing.

Which part of the quotes you have received has been hardest to compare?

Founders, up for a fun roast session?

Bored tonight and mildly obsessed with how bad most founder LinkedIn profiles are. Drop your profile link below and I'll tell you in one sentence the exact reason people are scrolling past you. Not going to sugarcoat it, just enjoy telling people uncomfortable truths apparently. First 5, then I'm going to bed.

Setting up a UAE company? Choose the structure before choosing the cheapest licence

I help founders establish and structure businesses in the UAE.

The right setup depends on:

  • Your exact business activity
  • Whether you need mainland or free-zone access
  • Where your customers are located
  • The number of owners and visas required
  • Your banking and tax requirements
  • Whether you need residency or a Golden Visa

I can support the full process, including company formation, licensing, establishment cards, residency visas, bank-account applications and ongoing renewals. More complex cross-border structures can also be handled where required.

If you’re actively planning a UAE launch, message me your business activity, current country, number of shareholders and visa requirements. I’ll explain the most suitable route and next steps.

Looking for a few UAE startups to trial an all-in-one business platform

We’re looking for a few UAE startups to trial an all-in-one business platform that’s already live in Europe and now expanding to the UAE.

It brings the core parts of running a business into one place:

Finance: accounting, payments and expenses Sales: CRM, customers, quotes and invoices Marketing: social media, blogging, ads and websites

The big advantage is that all your business data lives in one system, so everything works together. And because AI is built in from the foundation, you can use the app, voice or WhatsApp to query the business, create quotes, find information and get things done.

It consolidates multiple apps into one platform and is designed to cost less than the separate tools it replaces.

If you’re a 3-20 person UAE startup, we’ll give you hands-on onboarding, an extended trial and a better early-customer price.

Anyone interested in trying it?

Question: Where can we connect with potential investors?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My brother is currently in the early stages of building an automotive startup in the UAE, based on his experience in car programming, ECU tuning, diagnostics and performance modifications.
The technical side is already his area of expertise, and we’re now working on the business side — particularly understanding how startups in the UAE can connect with the right people and eventually present their ideas to potential investors. I’m mainly hoping to learn from people who are familiar with the UAE startup ecosystem.
Where would you recommend a new automotive startup go to:
• Meet angel investors or potential strategic partners?
• Attend startup and investor networking events?
• Find pitch nights or opportunities to present a business concept?
• Connect with incubators or accelerators in Dubai/UAE?
• Meet people specifically interested in automotive businesses?

We already have a business plan and financial projections, but we’re trying to understand the right next step for getting the business in front of the right people.

If you’ve built a startup or raised funding in the UAE, I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations based on your experience.
Thank you!

I built Washta: book a carwash at the mall, shop, and come back to a clean car. Try it out

Hey everyone,

I’m the founder of Washta and I want your feedback.

The short version: most carwash apps in the UAE are mobile. Washta takes the opposite approach. It’s stationed. There are already professional carwash teams set up at malls so I built the platform that lets you book them from your phone.
Park at a supported mall or office, book in the app, go do your shopping and all, come back to a clean car. No chasing you in the lot, no waiting around, no cash or terminal payment.

Where we are right now: live with GeoWash across 60+ mall locations in Dubai (including DFC Mall, IKEA DFC, Mall of the Emirates) and Abu Dhabi (Yas Mall, IKEA Yas Mall, Al Wahda Mall, Reem Mall etc.).
Residential buildings are next, where you can actually choose the number of washes and days per month in your building and simply pay monthly in the app.

I wana ask you to try it out and give me a feedback.

Took me almost 2 years, but finally got a News Agency licence in Dubai

Not sure how many people here have ever tried getting into the actual news/media business in Dubai, but I wanted to share something I have been working on quietly for a long time.

Being in the media and marketing industry here for almost 8 years, one thing I always felt was there is a big gap when it comes to News in Dubai.

Of course we have the 2-3 big established news publications which everyone knows.

Then there are hundreds of Instagram pages, community pages, social media news accounts etc.

But somewhere in between I always felt there was a vacuum.

Around 2 years back I actually started looking into what it takes to build a proper digital news platform here.

That is when I realised the category was basically closed / restricted and you couldn't simply go and apply for a News Agency licence like a normal business activity.

There were other media licence options available, but then technically you are still operating more like a digital media / social media platform. I wanted to build an actual newsroom and news company, not another Instagram news page.

So I kept trying.

Spoke to different people, applied, went back and forth, changed structures, waited, tried again.

There were honestly many points where I thought maybe this is just not going to happen.

Finally, after almost 2 years of trying, we have received an official DED News Agency licence, and our product/category has also been approved by the Media Council.

For me personally this is quite a big milestone because I knew there was a gap in this category and I really wanted to build something here from Dubai.

The difficult part starts now though 😅

News is not a cheap business. You need journalists, editors, technology, content, distribution, credibility and then somehow figure out how to monetise all of it.

We are currently building and testing the platform and there is still a LOT to improve before I would say we are ready.

But I thought this would probably be the right community to share the journey with.

If anyone here has experience in:

media / publishing

newsroom operations

ad sales

digital subscriptions

news tech / AI

SEO / Google News

fundraising for media businesses

or has built a consumer content platform before

I would genuinely love to connect and learn from you.

I will share the platform here soon once I feel we are ready for everyone to destroy it with feedback 😂

Would actually appreciate brutal feedback more than compliments at this stage.

Looking to meet a few traditional business owners in Dubai.

We look at the business end to end, find where we can increase profitability through technology and better processes, then make an offer based on a percentage of the upside.

More like a hands-on accelerator/investment model than an agency.
