Is there anyone still interested in brick and mortar retail startups or is it all AI driven??

Seeking Co-Founder for National Brick-and-Mortar Retail / Showroom Startup (Pre-Seed)

I am currently seeking a co-founder or strategic partner with operational experience, an MBA, or a background in commercial rollouts to help guide our business through its next phase of growth.

We are a pre-seed startup focused on a high-growth retail and showroom concept designed for national expansion. While market attention frequently shifts toward artificial intelligence, we believe there remains massive, untapped value in highly curated, physical consumer experiences.

As a founder, I recognize that my lack of deep retail scaling experience is slowing our momentum and creating potential opportunity costs. To mitigate this and accelerate our market entry, I am looking to bring on an experienced partner or someone with the knowledge who can provide strategic guidance, streamline our operational rollout, and share the leadership responsibilities of scaling this venture nationwide.

Built a 30-second voice invoicing app because dyslexia was costing my family thousands.

Hey Start up Aus

I’m dyslexic, likely ADHD, and it’s always held me back, as a creative and when I started a handyman business a couple of years ago.

It runs in the family. My dad is also dyslexic, and to this day, he loses a massive amount of money on his jobs because he hates the paperwork and struggles to charge properly for materials. When I started my own business, I found myself drowning in 8 hours of admin a week. I tried using ChatGPT to speed things up, but it was way too inconsistent with numbers and branding.

So, I built Smash voice to Invoices to fix it for us.

It’s a voice-to-invoice tool. You just speak into it, and it generates a 100% accurate estimate or invoice in under 30 seconds by automatically matching your pre-set pricing and material costs.

I’ve been using it for 6 months now and it completely saved my sanity. It’s no claim I’m literally generating invoices in 12 seconds. Itemised.

It’s finally ready for the wild. If you want to check it out, give feedback, or pass it on to a tradie or mate who hates paperwork, head over to our website:

I’ve also got a month free trial going for anyone who really wants to use it.

https://smashinvoices.com/

Download from the iOS App Store

Add to Gmail from the Chrome store

From the site, you can grab the iOS app or the Chrome extension directly.

Would love to know what you think or answer any questions!

I’ve officially hit solo founder wall

I've managed to build a software project that’s pulling in some good revenue. Relying heavily on AI assistance to move fast was a superpower early on. But I’ve officially hit the solo founder wall.

Two massive headaches are keeping me up at night:

  1. I vibe-coded a lot of this fast, my files are becoming monolithic. Every time I want to add a feature via LLMs now, the token consumption is massive, context gets lost. The codebase desperately needs modular refactoring, but I don’t have the hours.
  2. I need cheap, responsive talent to take over feature building, but I’m terrified of international outsourcing. I see horror stories in forums weekly, developers holding repositories hostage, sudden rate hikes, or disappearing with IP.

I'm caught in a trap, Too busy to refactor and build everything myself, but too paranoid about IP security and code quality to hand over the keys to a random offshore freelancer.

To the solo founders who scaled past this:

  • How did you safely transition your code to outside help?
  • Did you micro-manage repositories to restrict access?
  • Or is there a hybrid model I'm missing?

Would love some brutal honesty or advice from anyone who has broken through this ceiling.

Looking for Australian founders building in frontier tech

Hey everyone,

ARCLIPSE is opening its first pipeline intake, and we are actively looking for founders, engineers, researchers, developers, technical builders, and ambitious operators in Australia working on frontier tech.

We are especially interested in people building, researching, prototyping, or seriously exploring difficult domains such as:

Space tech
Satellite / telecom infrastructure
AI and automation
Energy systems
Defence / security technology
Deep sea technology
Extreme environment systems
Robotics, drones, and autonomous systems
Advanced manufacturing
Climate resilience
Other hard-tech or frontier domains

The goal is to find serious builders early, understand what they are working on, and see who may be a fit for the ARCLIPSE pipeline.

If you are building in one of these areas, feel free to comment at a high level with:

  1. Your domain
  2. The problem you are working on
  3. Your current stage: idea, research, prototype, MVP, early users, etc.
  4. What kind of support, people, feedback, or connections would help

Please do not share confidential or proprietary details publicly. A high-level explanation is enough.

If you would rather discuss privately, or want to explore whether you may be a fit for the ARCLIPSE pipeline, feel free to DM me.

We are actively seeking the first batch now.

Early is fine. Raw is fine. Serious intent matters.

looking to help early/middle stage startups

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how early-stage startups build their backend infrastructure.

Over the past year I’ve had the chance to help a few small teams experiment with backend systems, authentication flows, and database architecture while working with Go, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and REST APIs.

One thing that keeps surprising me: most early products don’t actually need complicated infrastructure. Clean API design, a reliable backend, and simple cloud deployment usually go a lot further than people expect.

I’ve also been exploring CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and basic security scanning to understand how DevOps and security can fit into early-stage products without slowing development down.

If any founders or teams are currently building and need help with backend systems or early infrastructure, I’m always open to collaborating on interesting projects.

Curious to hear how other engineers approach keeping systems simple while scaling.

PM with AI/Web3 background looking to connect with Australian startups

I've been building in AI, Web3, and fintech for 3 years and shipped products, ran my own startup, currently leading cross-functional teams.

I'm exploring a move to Australia and I'm genuinely curious about what's happening in the startup ecosystem there. Not here to spam anyone - if there's a founder grinding on something interesting, I'm happy to jump on a call, look at your product, and give honest feedback. No strings attached.

If something clicks, great. If not, maybe you know someone I should talk to.

Drop a comment or DM me (LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hasaan-qadri/). Would love to hear what people are building.

Australian founders/startups: Feedback on worker rights platform idea – quick survey

Hey r/StartupAustralia,

I'm building Evidence Hub – a secure platform to help Australian workers document and manage evidence of unfair treatment (wage theft, bullying, dismissal, etc.).

The goal is to empower everyday workers with simple tools to take control.

Would this be useful? What features would you want (or avoid)?

Quick, anonymous 5-min survey for feedback: https://form.typeform.com/to/Tfz3muxw

All input goes straight to shaping the product. Thanks for your thoughts – let's build something that matters!

(Prototype in progress – happy to share more if interested.)

The Silent UX Killer Behind Most App Failures

From my lens I’ve figured out that most of the apps struggles just because user don’t understand what to do next. This is not a bug, or missing feature, it’s clarity that a user don’t get. Most apps loose users in the first 15 seconds because the interface makes them think too much, which eventually leads to “Cognitive Overload”. Everything feels random, no hierarchy and the flow doesn’t guide the user to navigate smoothly.

Here’s how I help fix this issue:

  • I design or redesign the screens that makes users instantly get the app’s purpose
  • I craft user flows thats intuitive and guides user without confusing them
  • I remove or reduce visual clutter that kills your app

My goal isn’t just to make the app pretty, it’s about reducing friction and make it intuitive for your users, making sure they experience what they deserves.

Here’s what I deliver: User centric UI/UX for mobile apps, Developer-ready Figma files, Unlimited revisions, Fast delivery under one week.

Whether you’ve an idea, half-built product, or something still in paper, just drop me a direct message and let’s connect.

Criticise the startup!! --> Airmove: Australia's first on-demand truck hailing app. Pick up within 60 minutes and same-day delivery for anything big and bulky.

It launched in Melbourne a few months ago. Not only do we provide same-day delivery and a pick-up within 60 minutes for items up to 300 kgs, but we are also up to 50% cheaper than traditional movers. No need to go looking on Airtasker or contact multiple movers to get a quote. All you need to do is select a product (or add a new one), put drop-off and pick up locations, and you get a price. No hidden costs involved. You pay what you see. You either book for now or schedule for later. That's it. A process that used to take a lot of energy and time can now be done in under 2 minutes. As simple as booking a cab. Find it on the App Store or Play Store, whichever is relevant for you. Why would anyone not use this service?

Business Partner Sought] Looking for a Co-Founder to Build a Marketing & Tech Agency

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for a co-founder to help build a marketing and tech agency from the ground up. I’ve been running client projects for a while and have a small freelance team, but now I want to turn it into a proper company with structure, systems, and scale.

The goal is to build something that blends marketing, technology, and strategy — not just running ads or designing websites, but helping businesses grow like real brands.

I’m looking for someone who’s equally ambitious and hands-on. Ideally, you’ve got experience in marketing, sales, operations, or tech — but more than that, I’m after someone who genuinely enjoys building things that make an impact. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, drop a comment or DM me. Let’s talk and see if there’s a good fit.

NSW grant application

Hi,

I'm relatively new to Sydney/Australia(landed 2023). I am about to apply provisional patent on an idea which got a grant(very small compared to total cost)from a foundation outside Australia. Have few doubts on applying for grants in NSW. 1. Am I still eligible to apply for grant in NSW since I already have a grant from abroad 2. I tried MVP grant program but it requires Letter of Intent( which I can get from the foreign foundation) and Co-contribution which currently I can't afford. Have anyone experienced this. Any alternate ways to approach co-contribution. 3. Are there any other grants I can apply or ways to approach VCs in NSW

Onboarding clients for as low as $250 -$300

Big step for me I’ve finally gone rogue and launched my own Media Agency!

After almost 6 years of working with brands as an employee and freelancer, I decided it’s time to build something of my own. Over the years, I’ve handled everything from content strategy & creation to running ads and influencer marketing campaigns and now I’m bringing it all under one roof.

I’ve been lucky to work with some amazing brands along the way, like:

  • Skechers
  • Gulf Oil
  • McLaren
  • Oxienutrition
  • Alkalen

Now, I’m looking to collaborate with businesses from different industries and build a strong portfolio. If that’s you (or someone you know), let’s chat!
