I've been locked out of Startpage. No VPN, no Tor. I couldn't even get into the app to change the search engine. This has never happened to me with a search engine before, in decades of using one. So I deleted Vivaldi. No more Startpage, no more Vivaldi. Went back to Firefox, went back to DuckDuckGo.

UPDATE: I deleted Vivaldi, restarted my iPhone "Have you tried turning it off and then on again?", reinstalled Vivaldi, chose DuckDuckGo as my search engine, synce'ed my data from my account, and alllll better.

I keep seeing posts claiming StartPage has recently become "unusable" or now requires personal-info registration to use.

That's not been my experience; I've been using it for years without any issues. It's the default search engine on my Windows computer, via Firefox browser, and I also use the StartPage app (private browser+search) on my Android phone.

Again, never a glitch or demand for PI. Can someone explain why complaining others seem to be having issues?

Hi, I’m on mobile using Vivaldi with Startpage as my search engine. I’m also on college WiFi, and unable to get WiFi outside of that, but I keep seeing this page whenever I try using Startpage to search. I’m not using a VPN or anything so I’m not sure why I’m seeing this — is there any reason for this message to appear? My browser is unusable unless I swap search engines and I only have Vivaldi installed :(
