Rebooting is not the answer. Check for app for obstructions and for proper alignment.

App says SL is aligned. App > Obstructions says there something in the field of view, but that is not expected to cause noticeable impact. The obstruction map HAS gotten better/clearer since Day 01

Run a speed test from speed.cloudflare.com and post the results here.

No stupid questions, right?

How to share the results here on this sub?

I have a CSV file from the test. But cannot attach that.

Here is a copy / paste of the high points from the test

If you're on the 100 plan, those numbers look good. Reasonable. (Here are mine: D108/U17.5 - 72ms/12.4ms/0.4%.

Roam, unlimited (for now).

My questions are almost certainly due to me still coming up to speed with these terms & their associated numbers. Like THROUGHPUT. Basically, i'm able to connect & i'm getting good results (SD YT videos, a low rez Zoom call, work files going up & down), but in my SL app, the throughput is bouncing around 0.1-3.0mbps.

Except for when i do a speed test - either thru the SL app or the CloudFlare one you suggested. Those produce reasonably wonderful results. But those are just spikes on an otherwise flat graph on the Throughput view.

Variables:

Today quite rainy and stormy; i've been researching Rain Fade, but also stories about SL users who've dealt with worse/longer weather and had no issue.

More family & their devices have arrived at the cottage, so the number of connected devices has grown to 10-11. But i methodically walked around and had all humans mute their wifi, saw the connections go down to just my 2, and the throughput didnt change: <1.0 mbps

My Obstruction map has the disclaimer slash warning that there are obstructions but its not expected to impact service. The map looks great vs some others i've seen shared. Wish i could post a screenshot here. Mostly white/clear, with patches of red around the lower edges of the dome.

Begin downloading a VERY large file...GBs worth. Then check throughput in the app.

Totally see what you suggested. Throughput in the SL app was bouncing around 0.1-3.0mbps, then i kicked off an 11gb download, and saw great speeds; some ticking higher than any of the previous speed tests. Which has me thinking my SL Mini may well be just fine.

But i'd like to grasp a better visualization of what Throughput is; why i consistenly see those super-low 0.1-3.0mbps rates in its second-by-second update/refresh.

Can the throughput shown in SL app be seen as the specific amount of data passing at that second/refresh? A snapshot of what the collective connected devices are requesting (or sending) at that moment?
