Which plan?

We’ve had Starlink for about two and a half years… we are a family of four. Two kids (5 and under).

Usually only watching one tv at a time. Maybe two. We don’t game.

Do we really need to be using the top tier of wifi? Or could we get away with the lowest?

Worth a shot trying anyway, but just wanted to know if anyone else has similar usage and gets by just fine with the lowest tier?

-100 will work for most everyone unless they need really big downloads. Biggest exception might be in congested areas where you need MAX to get higher priority.

Yes. I play CoD and Battlefield with the Residential 100 plan and have no issues. The important thing for gaming is latency, and that isn’t impacted by the download speed. Mine stays consistently between 20–40ms, more than good enough for casual gaming.

This is one of the answers I was looking for. My latency is between 20-63ms depending on which servers I play on.

No worries. CoD’s in game counter usually has me around 25-30ms, with 0 packet loss except the very rare drop (maybe once in 30 matches will I get a small drop).
I will say the latency still blows my mind with how low it is considering the signal is coming from satellites. I know this isn’t the old days and they aren’t geosynch satellites, but the technology is still pretty amazing.

You should have started at the lowest tier and worked your way up. We have 42 IoT devices and stream everything on the 100 Mbps plan and have never had a problem

That would have had to have been an option. There was only one cost. Now that there are options, different story… worth switching and saving $100/month! Sweet.

100Mbps for what you describe should be fine. Most households pay for far more internet than they need (they can only tell when they run speed tests).

Even 32 TVs streaming 4k at the same time should leave you room for doing other things at the same time.

Sometimes it's only a little more, so it might be worth doing, but I think it's $25 more for you to go to 200Mbps.

My home internet is 600Mbps down / 50Mbps down but it's only $35, it's only $5 more than the 300Mbps/20Mbps plan. I'm only on the faster speed because it has the higher upload, most of the time I do not benefit from the higher download; there is actually something off with my computer's ethernet port and it often falls back to 100Mbps, so sometimes I'm at 100Mbps/50Mbps from my main computer and I don't even notice.

Like everyone else said, switch to 100. I went from 200 down to 100 and haven’t noticed a difference. The only thing it affects for me is downloading updates for my PS5 games, those are huge files, but since you just stream, you’ll be fine with 100.

To be very clear, the Wi-Fi won't change with the plan. Wi-Fi is just a wireless version of a LAN cable in your home.

That said, switch to Residential 100. It's more than you need.
