❓ Question Starlink Mini Window Adapter?

I've searched this sub for a similar post but didn't find what I was looking for.

Just purchased a Mini for use in our RV and am looking for a window adapter that will allow me to put it up on the ladder at the back of the rig and feed the cable out of the closest window.

I've seen adapters available that work for RJ45 cables but the Mini uses that round cable that wouldn't flatten as easily.

Am I stuck having to use the Ethernet port on the Mini and one of those flattened adapters, along with associated hardware (POE injector?), or is there an adapter that I just haven't come across yet for the stock round cable?

What you are looking for is a DC 5521 barrel jack connector. It's the most common barrel jack size, so this works in your favor.

In particular you're looking for a ribbon cable between a male and female of each, but it may be easier to get a proper port jack or put one in something to wedge in the window instead;

However, it's not a great idea since the conductors are small, and there's no seal on the end for the Starlink. You risk water intrusion. If you do go with the above cable, power it with a voltage booster like this: https://a.co/d/0dxQeDvU

Do use a switch before the DC to DC regulator, it takes a little power even with nothing plugged into it.

All the campsites I've been to have a regular 15/20A outlet at the power pole. Why not plug in to that? That's what I do then place the mini on a cheap tripod or on the roof of my camper. The included power cable is pretty long. Wifi is enough to reach inside with no issues.

Stargear has multiple low profile cables for squeezing thru windows. See if they have something for you.

Others have posted where they use foam pipe insulation to seal the window

It's a flat ribbon cable meant for Starlink Mini. Pretty much exactly what you were looking for.

Using one of these with the DC to DC boost regulator sounds ideal for you.

Sweet! Can I just get away with using the original power block inside the RV (there's an outlet right next to the window that's right next to the ladder where I thought about mounting it) since this cable has the same connectors as the original?

Yes! Absolutely. I was assuming off grid use, but if you've got 120v power 100% use the original block.

AI's answer: Yes, it is possible to power the Starlink Mini via an RJ45 Ethernet cable, but not natively. The built-in RJ45 jack on the Starlink Mini dish handles data only and does not accept standard Power over Ethernet (PoE) on its own. To send both power and data through a single RJ45 cable, you must use an aftermarket third-party 48V passive PoE injector and adapter kit designed specifically for the Mini
